This invention relates to improvements in safety razors and in razor blades.
Briefly, an object of my invention is to provide an inexpensive razor and blade, simple in construction, easy of operation and which will provide the shaver with a better shave.
More particularly, another object of my in vention is to positionthe double-edged blade so that both cutting edges are in identically the same position from the medial line of the blade platform in order to present identical cutting edges with relation to the guard-cap so that the shaver will have a greater degree of safety.
Another object of my invention is to provide a novel combined platform, guard and cap fashioned of one piece of material to receive a new type of blade which automatically positions the cutting edges of the blade in an exact and predetermined position with relation to the guard.
By my construction, the edges of the blade can be readily washed and wiped without removing the blade from the razor, so that the blade is always ready for immediate use.
Another object of my invention is to provide a novel blade having an applied metal ridge to give the blade longitudinal rigidity and to stabilize the blade during any flexing.
My new blades are constructed so that no.
tolerance is required since the blade is centrally held by a metal ridge within a channel so that no play is permitted such as the centrally slotted blades now in use.
For a fuller understanding of the nature and objects of my invention, reference is had to the following detailed description in connection with the accompanying drawings, in which Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the razor, showing a blade partially within the razor head.

Referring to the drawings, Figs. 1 to 4, inclusive, numeral 50 represents a razor head fashioned from one piece of material and comprising a platform 5|, guards 52-52, and a cap 53-53. Along the longitudinal central portion of platform 5|, there is a channel 54. Cap 53 is split along the longitudinal central portion creating an opening 55. Guards 52-52 are bent downwardly at 56. Openings 51-51 are created between the guards 52-52 and cap 53-53. Cap portions 53-53 and platform 5| are slit at 53 so as to create spring members 59-59 which are bent downwardly to contact and hold the razor blade 60 under pressure. Notches I45 are formed in cap 53-53 and platform 5|. Attached to channel 54 at its central portion, there is a handle 6|. The material of platform 5|, guard 52 and cap 53 is made of a material having reedges. Razor head 63 is fashioned of one piece of material comprising a platform 66, guards 61-61 and a cap 68-68. Cap 68-68 is split along the longitudinal central portion creating an opening 69. Guards 61-61 are bent downwardly at 16. Openings 1I-1I are created between guards61-61 and cap 68-68. Cap portions 68-68 and platform 66 are slit at 12 so as to create spring members 13-13 which are bent slightly downwardly in order to contact and hold the razor blade 64 under pressure. Notches I46 are formed in platform 66. Channels 16-16 created in the spring members 13-13 and the platform 66 permit longitudinal ridges 65-65 of blade 64 to ride within the channels so that the blade is held in proper position. Handle 14- is attached to the bottom of platform 66 by plate 15. The material of platform 66, uards 61-61 and cap 68-68 is made of resilient material so that spring members 13-13 and cap 68-68 retain blade 64 within the razor head 63 under tension. In injecting the blade 64 into razor head 63, the metal ridges 65-65 slide within the channels 16-16 and snap into fixed position when blade 64 is entirely within the razor head 63. Since the channels 16-16 are spaced equi-distant from the longitudinal medial line, the blade 64 presents identical cutting edges with relation to the guards 61-61.
Referring to Figs. 9 to 12, inclusive, numeral 11 shows another modification of my razor head fashioned of two pieces of material, one piece comprising the cap 18 and guards 19-19 and the other, the platform 86 so joined together so as to present an inseparable razor head. The cap 18 and platform 86 have longitudinal channels 8| and 82, respectively, along their medial lines. Guards 19-19 are bent downwardly at 83. Openings 84-84 are created between the guards 19-19 and cap 18. The cap 18 is slit at 85 to allow for movement of spring member 86-86. Spring members 86-86 of cap 18 are bent downwardly to contact and hold razor blade 66 and spring members 81-81 of platform 86 are bent upwardly to contact and hold razor blade 66 under pressure, the platform being slit at 88 to allow for movement of spring members 81-81. Attached to channe1'82 at its central portion is a handle 89. The material of razor head 11 is made of resilient material so that spring members 86-86 and 81-81 and the cap 18 retain blade 66 within the razor head under tension. In injecting blade 66 into razor head 11, the metal ridge 62 slides within channels 8| and 82 so that the blade is rigidly held exactly along the medial line of the razor thus presenting two identical cutting edges spaced equl-distant from guards 19-19.
Referring to Figs. 13 and 14, inclusive, numeral 96-96 represents another modified razor comprising two identical halves. Each half is fashioned of one piece of material consisting of siliency so that the spring members 59-59 and i a cap 9|, guard 92, platform 93, spring members 94 of cap 9|, .spring members 95 of platform 93 and handle 96. Along the central longitudinal medial line, the material of the cap 9| and platform 93 is bent at 91 and 98 in a one-quarter arc so that when the halves are joined together a channel'is created. Cap 9| and platform 93 are slit at 99, to permit greater flexibility in the spring members which are bent downwardly to contact and hold razor blades like 66. Handle 96'has aligned holes I66 and I6I to receive rivets for joining the two halves of the razor together. In injecting blade 66 into the razor, metal ridge 62 slides within the channel created by 91-91 and. 98-98 thus holding the blade rigidly exactly along the medial line of the razor.
Referring to Figs. to 17, inclusive, doubleedged blade 66 has a metal ridge 62 running around the centrallongitudinal portion of the blade and fitting within notches I62-I62. Spaced equi-distant from the central ridge 62 there are notches I63-I63 at the short ends, I64-I64 of the blade.
Referring to Figs. 18 to 20, inclusive, doubleedged blade 64 has a pair of metal ridges 65 running longitudinal through opposed holes I65-I65 and spaced equi-distant from the longitudinal medial line. In the central portion of the ends I66 of blade 64 there are, opposed notches I 61.
Referring to Figs. 21 to 25, inclusive, numeral I41 is a razor comprising a cap I48 split along the longitudinal medial line as shown at I49, spring members I56-I56, slit at I5I-I5I in said cap, guards I52-I52, a stationary platform I53 and spring members I54-I54 slit at I55-I55 in said platform. Handle I56 is digidly attached to the center of platform I53. In stationary platform I53, the material is bent to form a chamber I51. Within chamber I51 there is a movable platform I58 to which is revolvably attached a shaft I59 terminating at the opposite end in a threaded member I66 with a finger knob I6I. Shaft I59 passes through handle I56 and threaded portion I66 co-operates with the threaded chamber I62 at the base of handle I 56.
The blade I63 shown in Figs. 26 to 28, inclusive, has two ridges I64 embracing the blade and held in position by notches I65 in the edges, the central portion has cut-outs I66.
In operation, blade I63 is inserted within the razor so that ridges I64 of the blade pass into channels I61 of the platform I53. Spring members I56-I56 and I54-I54 hold the blade under tension. Finger knob I6I is then turned so that moveable platform I58 flexes the blade I63, moving ridges I64 of blade I63 into the upper channel I68 of the cap, forcing the blade to take the position shown in Fig. 36 and the razor is now ready for shaving.
My razors may be made of various types of materials such as metal, plastics or like materials.
It is obvious that various changes and modifications may be made in the various detail of construction without departing from the general spirit of my invention, as set forth in the ap pending claims.
I claim:
1. In a razor of the character described, a

14. A double-edged wafer razor blade comprising a flat member and an attached longitudinal round wire ridge or round wires on said flat member.
15. A razor blade comprising a normally flat member, a pair of opposed holes near the short edges of said blade and a pair of attached longitudinal round wires embracing said blade and spaced equi-distant from the longitudinal medial line of said blade.
16. A safety razor blade having a normally flat resilient body and supplemental round wires secured to the body of the blade on each side of its longitudinal medial line providing razor engaging means for locating the blade in a safety razor.
17. A double-edged safety razor blade having a normally flat resilient body, and reinforcing round wires secured to the body of the blade and supplying positioning means for inserting said blade in a safety razor.
18. A double-edged safety razor blade having a thin sheet steel body and supplemental round wires longitudinally secured to and embracin said blade thereby reinforcing the blade and serving to support said blade in spaced relation to the guards of asafety razor.
19. A safety razor blade having a normally fiat resilient body and supplemental round wires extending longitudinally on each side of the medial line of the blade and embracing the blade supplying positio ng means for inserting said blade into a razor.
20. A safety razor blade having a resilient body of thin sheet steel and rigid longitudinal round wires attached to the blade and projecting from both faces of the blade and being arranged to take a greater curvature when the blade is subjected to increasing clamped pressure.
21. A double-edged safety razor blade having a longitudinally resilient body and reinforcing round wires running longitudinally on the blade and embracing bothiongitudinal faces of the blade.
22. A safety razor blade having a body of thin tempered steel and reinforcing round wire or round wires of different metal than the blade, said reinforcing ridge member or members dividing said blade into various sections.
