thereto and adapted to take removablelegs or supports forming a tripod or similarflstand or ratus according to the preceding paragraph in which the removable brackets are carried by clamping bands secured to the body of the filter so that the bands and rately removed.
The invention also consists in filtering apparatus according to either of the two preceding paragraphs in which the unit it combined with a pump unit so that the combined filter and pump may be carried on a detachable tripod or stand.
Further features of the inventionwill be apparent from the description given hereafter. j
The accompanying drawings illustrate one con-- venient form of apparatus in accordance with the invention. t
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the complete apparatus.
Figure 2 is a plan. Figures 3 and 4 are plan views on a larger scale of the two clamping bands shown in Figure 1.
brackets'may allfbe sepa- 1 5 Claims. (onus-91150) f n y t n s "fitted with a sprin" catch" rename me -bane for retaining the bracket su position until wi1-" f ully released. braketfis also 'fittedwith a lowerboss d formed'to fit into the dove.-
tailed tapered slot 0' in the lower clamping band. The brackets-d'are'socketed as are totakethe detachable legs e of thetripod which are held in a Figure 5 is an enlarged View of a tripod leg,
and
Figures 6 and are enlarged views of a bracket to take a tripod leg. l
In carrying my invention into effect in one convenient manner, I take any suitable filter unit a to the body of which I bolt two clamping bands be spaced one above the other. Each of these clamping bands may have slots formed in it to tak the supporting brackets d to which the tubular or other tripod legs e are attached. The slots b in the band b are formed with parallel undercut side walls visible in Figure 3 while the walls of the slots 0' in the band 0 are both undercut and inclined to present a; dove-tail formation as clearly shown in Figures 1 and 4.
In the particular construction illustrated each slot b in th upper clamping band and which detachable supporting bracket has a rectangular end portion d which slidably engages with the position by gravity hooks g engaging in holes e (Figure '5) drilled therein. The arrangement is such that the filter complete with supporting tripod can be freely moved about and when required the legs dismantled by throwing back the holding hooks g, an the supporting brackets may be withdrawn after releasing the spring. catches f. Atthe lower end of each leg is hinged a foot support plate h of adequate area so constructed thattit folds up relatively parallel with the leg when not in use as shown by the dotted lines in Figure 5, but is counterweighted so that when theleg is assembled with the filter unit the foot plate assumes a relatively horizontal position (as shown by the full lines in Figure 5) and prevents the leg sinking into the ground.
When-it is desired that a combined filter and pump unit shall be detachably supported on a tripod or thelike, I may provide a plate 2' adapted tobe connected across the upper and lower clamping bands, and such plate is furnished with bosses i by means of. which a pump k of convenient form may be detachably secured to the plate while the latter is also detachably secured to the clamping rings.
If desired, the filter may be provided with interchangeable connections on inlet and outlet with caps for back flushing. Thus the connection from the pump to the filter inlet can be detached and coupled to the filter outlet, thus permitting back-wash through the filter from outlet to inlet to aid detachment ofnthe filtering medium,
Any suitable frame or box may be provided for taking the components of a dismantled unit, also tool box, mixing tin and tin containing filter powder, water treatment chemicals and testing set. a i
It will be understood that the invention is not to be limited to theforegoing details of construction which are given by way of example only, as I may modify the means fordetachably carrying the filter and pump upon a stand or tripod so that the partsmay be readily dismantled for transport, depending upon the purposes for which the installation is to be employed.
I claim: 3 v
