Claims.

This invention relates to display cards.

The general object of the invention is to provide a display card including novel supporting means.

Another object of the invention is to provide a display card including novel integral means including interlocking side flaps which provide a rigid support.

Another object of the invention is to provide a display card including a novel compartment display portion.

Another object of the invention is to provide a windowed display card having a novel lock member.

A further object of the invention is to provide a novel display card in the general form of a star.

Other objects and advantages of the invention will be apparent from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, wherein:

Fig. 1 is a plan view of a display card embodying the features of my invention;

Fig. 2 is a front view of the display card in assembled position;

Fig. 3 is a side elevation of an assembled display card;

Fig. 4 is a plan view of a blank forming a modified display member;

Fig. 5 is a front view of the modified display member;

Fig. 6 is a side elevation with parts broken away showing the modified member;

Fig. 6A is a fragmentary view similar to Fig, 6 on an enlarged scale;

Referring to the drawings by reference characters I have shownmy invention as embodied in a display panel which is indicated generally at H]. As shown the panel includes a body portion having a score line !2 adjacent each side of the panel, a score line !3 adjacent the top of the panel and a score line !4 adjacent the bottom of the panel. The score lines !2 are parallel to each other and the score lines !3 and !4 are likewise parallel and the four score lines, in general, define a rectangle.

Each of the score lines !2 and I3 terminates in an arcuate slit !5 with the slits outwardly directed and each slit merges into a straight slit Hi which extends to the outer edge of the body portion as clearly shown. r

The score line I4 terminates in an outwardly directed straight slit I! which merges into a second straight slit I8 which continues to the outer edge of the body.

The various slits define side flaps I9, a top flap 29 and a bottom flap 2!. Adjacent the juncture of the side flaps l9 and the top flap 2U the'flaps !9 are provided with notches 22 which are adapted to engage notches 23 in the top flap. The side flaps !9 are also provided with lower notches 24 which are adapted to engage notches 25 in the bottom flap 2!. In use the flaps I9, 2!), and 2! are folded and the notches are interlocked as shown in Fig. 3 to form a supporting frame about the body I! of the panel. The lower edges 28 of the side flap !9 are bevelled in such fashion that the panel body I I is inclined at the desired angle as shown in Fig. 3.

In Figs. 4, 5, and 6 I show a modification of my invention wherein the display panel includes a receptacle. In the modification the body 30 is provided with score lines 3! along each'side, an upper score line 32, and a lower score line 33. Each score line terminates in an arcuate outwardly directed slit 34 and each of the slits 34 intersects a straight slit 35 so that a pair of side flaps 36, a top flap 31 and a bottom flap 33 are provided. The flaps are provided with slots 3'! at each end which in the assembled construction interlock to hold the flaps at right angles to the body 30.

The body 30 is provided within the area defined by the score lines 3!, 32, and 33, a viewing aperture 39', with side score lines 39, and with a bottom score line 40 which define side flaps 4! and a bottom flap 42 thus defining portions of the aperture 39'. These flaps are separated from the body by curved slits 43 at the top thereof and by straight slits 44 at the bottom thereof so that the flaps 4!, 4!, and 42 may be folded perpendicular to the body 30.. Each side flap 4! includes a plurality of tongues 45 which have upwardly directed ears 4E thereon and the lower flap 42' includes short tongues 41.

Integral with the lower flap 38 I show a back member 48 which is connected to the flap 38 by a score line 49. The score line 49 at each end terminates in outwardly directed slits 49'. The flaps 4! and 42 are adapted to be folded perpendicular to the body 30 and the back 48 is then folded along the score line 49 until it is parallel with the body 30 and is in alignment with the flaps 4! and 42. The back 48 includes slots 50 along the side and intermediate slots 5|. The slots 5| receive the tongues 41 and the slots 50 receive the tongues 45.

36, 31, and 38 are preferably first folded to position and their interlocking members 31' are engaged. The flaps 4| and 42 are then bent at right angles to the body and the back 48 is moved parallel to the body about the crease line 49. The slots 50 are aligned with the tongues 45 and are passed over these tongues as shown in the dotted line position in Fig. 6A after which the back is shifted downwardly to the full line position in Fig. 6A and the parts are thus locked in assembled position.

In Figs. '7, 8, and 9 I show a further modification of my invention wherein the body 60 is provided with top side score lines BI and an intermediate inverted substantially V-shaped slit 62 to provide a top flap 63. At each side I provide a side flap 64 connected to the body by a score line 65 and severed from the body along an inclined slit 66 providing a tongue 61.

Each tongue 61 has a slot 68 adapted to engage in a slot 69 on the upper edge of the top flap 63 when the parts are in operative position.

The body further includes a bottom fiap 10 connected to the body by a score line H and havinginclined slits 12 at each side thereof. The slits 12 define bottom tongues 13 which have slots 14 therein. When the flap 1B is bent to operative position as shown in Figs. 8 and 9 each slot 14 is engaged in a companion slot 15 on the adjacent side flap 64 to hold the parts assembled. As in the previously described types, the lower edge 16 of the side flap 64 engages a support and serves to hold the display member erect while the lower outer edges of the body also serve to support the device.

It will be noted that the body disclosed in Fig.

9 is of general star shape and that all of the devices provide neat, attractive display panels which can be readily manufactured and assembled.

Having thus described my invention, I claim: 1. In a display panel, a body having a score line adjacent to the top, bottom and each side thereof to define edge portions, the opposed score lines being parallel, said body having an outwardly directed slit at each end of the score lines, a straight slit extending from the end of each of said outwardly directed slits and being arranged parallel to the adjacentscore line, each edge portion being foldable along its score line to define a flap and each outwardly directed slit and its associated straight slit defining a tongue, said tongues being on the flaps, said tongues at each corner of the body overlapping and being disposed in planes arranged at right angles to each other, the overlapping tongues including interlocking slots.

2. In a display panel, a body having a score line adjacent to the top, bottom and each side thereof to define edge portions, the opposed score lines being parallel, said body having an arcuate slit at each end of the side and the top score lines, said arcuate slits being outwardly directed, said body having an outwardly directed straight slit at each end of the bottom score line, a straight slit extending from the end of each of said outwardly directed slits and being arranged parallel to the adjacent score line, each edge portion being foldable along its score line to define a flap and each outwardly directed slit and its associated straight slit defining a tongue said tongues being on the flaps, said tongues at each corner of the body overlapping and being disposed in planes arranged at right angles to each other, the overlapping tongues including interlocking slots, the lower ends of each side portion being bevelled to form a support.

3. In a display panel, a body having a score line adjacent to the bottom thereof to define an edge portion, said edge portion being foldable along its score line to define an outer bottom flap, said body having a viewing aperture, an inner flap at each side of the aperture, said inner flaps being integral with the body and having tongues thereon, said body bottom outer flap having a back member connected thereto by a score line, said back member being foldable parallel to the body and having slots therein receiving the tongues on said inner flaps.

4. In a display panel, a body having a score line adjacent to the top, bottom and each side thereof to define edge portions, said body having a slit at each end of the score lines, each edge portion being foldable along its score line to define outer side flaps and an outer bottom flap, each slit defining a tongue, said tongues at each corner of the body overlapping and being secured together, said body having a viewing aperture, an inner flap at each side of the aperture and an inner flap at the bottom of the aperture, said inner flaps being integral with the body and having tongues thereon, the tongues on the side flaps having upwardly directed ears, said body bottom outer flap having a back member connected thereto by a score line, said back member being foldable parallel to the body and having slots therein receiving the tongues on said inner flaps.

5. In a display panel, a body having a score line adjacent to the top, bottom and each side thereof to define edge portions, the opposed score lines being substantially parallel, said body having an arcuate slit at each end of each score line, said arcuate slits being outwardly directed, a straight slit extending outwardly from both ends of each slit, each side edge portion and the top edge portion being foldable along its score line to define an outer flap, the bottom edge portion being foldable to provide an outer bottom fiap each outwardly directed slit and its associated straight slit defining a tongue, said tongues at each corner of the body overlapping and being disposed in planes arranged substantially at right angles to each other, the overlapping tongues including interlocking slots, the lower ends of each side portion being bevelled to form a support, said body having a viewing aperture, an inner flap at each side of the aperture and an inner flap at the bottom of the aperture, said inner flaps being integral with the body and having tongues thereon, the tongues on the side inner flaps having upwardly directed ears, said body bottom outer flap having a back member connected thereto by a score line, said back member being foldable parallel to the body and having slots therein receiving the tongues on said inner flaps.
