Fixed to the inner surfaces of the side walls 30, are pairs of aligned, horizontal, guides 33 to support the racks I2, each rack being supported on a pair of aligned guide bars. The guide bars 33 may be of angular cross-section, each comprising a vertical wall 33a and a horizontal, inwardly extending wall The walls 33h of the guide bars 33 are each formed atthe front and rear with upwardly

It will be noted that the racks are supported on the horizontal walls 33h of the guide bars 33, and that the frame portions at the sides of the rackcontact said horizontal walls. When a rack is fully inserted in the cabinet, the

The space between one pair of guide bars 33 and the next adjacent pair of guide bars is greater than the height of the rack to permit a clearance so that when it is desired to withdraw the rack, the Vrack may be/lifted above theV Ilug Y34 and drawn out of the cabinet. When it is desired to partially withdraw the rack, the front: part thereof is lifted until it clears the lugs 34,` and the rack is lpulled forwardly to a position where said lugs engage within the notches 2|. Thel frontvpart of the rack may then be tilted down` wardly, as Ashown in mFig. 1 of the drawings, articles may then be withdrawn from the front part of the'rack. In such position the guide bars above the rack contact the rear end of the rack, as shown in Fig. 1.A A

It will be noted that the racks may be inserted into the cabinet with either the portions I3 at the front and rear, or with the portions I4 at the front and rear, by reason oi"-V the fact that the racks are square in shape. In either position. notches 2li or ZI will be disposed at the sides to receive the lugs'34.

The combination cabinet and rack construction` disclosed herein is particularly suitable for ships. the

When the rank is partially withdrawn. 'as shown in Fig; .1.. apart of'the'rack may be used without exposing "the rear part. and furthermore, when they-ack is supported in partially vwithdrawn position. it is firmly held in the cabinet while articles are takenr out of it or placed thereinto.

It will thus be seen thatthere is provided a device in which the several objects of this invention are achieved,` and which is well adaptedto meet the conditions of practical use.

As various possible embodiments might be made of theV above invention,-and as various changes` might be made in the embodiment above set forth. it is toibe understood that all matter herein set forthfor shown in the accompanying drawings is to be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.

Having thus. described my invention. I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent: s

1. -A'cabinet having side .vwallsa Vpairof parallel horizontal supports Yattached to the inner surfaces of the side walls of the cabinet, a square rack supported on said supports, each pair of opposite sides of said rack being formed with aligned notches, and means at the front ends of the supports to engage within said notches, when the rack is partially withdrawn from the cabinet, said supports having means adjacent the rear ends thereof to engage the rear end of said rack when the rack is fully inserted into the cabinet,'th`e distance between the 'notch engaging means and the means to'engage the rear end of the rack being substantially equal to the length L of said rack from front to rear.

2. Acabinet having side walls, pairs of aligned sidewalls', square racks mounted on said supports, means at the front and rear ends of said supports to retain the racks against forward or `:rearward movement when the racks are fully inserted in the cabinet, and means at each pair of opposite sides of each of the racks to engage the means at the front ends Yof the supports to retain the racks againstv forward or rearward movement ina position where the racks are partially withdrawn from the cabinet.

3. A cabinet having side walls, pairs of aligned horizontal rack supports on the inside of said sidewalls, square racks mountedV on said supports, means at the front and rear ends of said supports to retain the racks against forward or rearward movement when the racks are fully inserted -in the cabinet/and means ateach pair of oppositesides of each of the racks to engage the means at" the front ends of the supports to retain the racks against forwarder rearward movement in a-'position where the racks are partially withdrawnfrom the cabinet, the distance between one pair o'f aligned supports and the next vadjacent pair of aligned supports being greater than the height ofthe racks t permit the racks'to be tilted forwardly and'downwardly in partiallywithdrawn position, andone pair of supports 'serving tov engage the rear ends of racks mounted on the supports below the same when in partially withdrawn posi-tion and tilted downwardly andforwardly.'

4. A'cabinet having side walls, a pair of parallel horizontal supports on the inside of said side walls, av square shaped rack mounted on said supports, said rack having pairs of opposite walls, each pair ofiopposite walls being formed with aligned notches, andra pair of aligned upwardly extending lugs 'on said supports adapted to engage in each pair of notches.v

A square rack having at thelower edges oithe side and endwalls thereof, an angle shaped reinforcing,v frame having upwardly extending, vertical wallportions and inwardly extending, horizontal wall portionaopposite horizontal wall portions being formed with aligned pairs of notches' mediately the ends thereof,-adapted to coact with supporting lugs on a Acabinet to support therackV in a partially extended and tilted Position.

V6. A rack having at the lower ends of the side and end Ywalls thereof, an angle' shaped reinforcing frame having upwardly extending, vertical wall portions and inwardly extending, horizontalwallportions, opposite horizontal wall portions being Vformed withaligned pairs of notches mediately the ends thereof, and a cabinet having a support for said rack, and lugs adjacent the front end thereofto engage in said pairs of notches.`

7. In combination, arcabinet and a square rack insertable intov said cabinet with either pair of opposite sides of the rack at the front and rear of the cabinet, said cabinet having means to support said rack when the rack is inserted into said cabinet with either of its opposite side portions at the front and rear, said supporting means including means to prevent the rack from sliding forwardly or rearwardly when the rack is fully inserted within the cabinet, means on said rack adapted to cooperate with an element of the second mentioned means to support said rack in partially withdrawn position when either of its opposite side portions are disposed front and rear of the rack, to expose one part of the rack while another part of the rack is still Within the cabinet.

8. In combination, a cabinet and a square rack insertable into said cabinet with either pair of opposite sides of the rack at the front and rear of the cabinet, said cabinet having means to support said rack when the rack is inserted into said cabinet with either of its opposite side portions at the front and rear, said supporting means including means to prevent the rack from sliding forwardly or rearwardly when the rack is fully inserted within the cabinet, means on said rack adapted to cooperate with means to support said rack in partially withdrawn position when either of its opposite side portions are disposed front and rear of the rabk, to expose one part of the rack while another part of the rack is still within the cabinet, and means on the cabinet to retain the rack in forwardly and downwardly tilted position when the rack is retained in partially Withdrawn position.
