This invention relates to pendant watches, and has for its main object to provide watches of this type, the reading of which will be easier and more convenient than is the case with similar watches at present.

Another object of this invention is to provide a pendant watch which will be adapted to be secured on the body of the wearer, like on a garment, and which will have a dial face for reading the same, and an ornamental rear face normally exposed, and which will be rotatable on its suspending means to expose said dial face when desired.

1 Still a further object of this invention is to provide a pendant watch as characterized hereinbefore, which aside of being rotatable on a vertical axis so as to expose either face of it as desired; will also be rockable or bendable on its suspending means on a horizontal axis, as usual.

Still a further object of this invention is to provide a pendant watch which will have a casing having a normally exposed surface of an ornamental design, like leaves, branches and fruit of a plant, said ornamental design being also a portion of the suspending means and in which design there will be members to permit said rotation and rocking on a horizontal and on a desired vertical axis, respectively.

Other objects of this invention will be apparent as the specification of the same proceeds, and among others I may mention: to provide a device as characterized hereinbefore, which will be simple in construction, attractive in appearance, easy and inexpensive to manufacture, and easy and convenient to handle.

Fig. 1 is a front elevation of one embodiment of my pendant watch;

Figs. 2 and 3 are similar front elevations, the watch proper in Fig. 2 being turned 90 and in Fig. 3, 180 with reference to its position shown in Fig. 1;

Fig. 4 is .a sectional elevation of the casing of the watch proper on an enlarged scale;

Fig. 5 is a top view of the watch and its suspending means shown in Figs. 1 to 3.

Referring now to the drawing more in detail by characters of reference, the numeral l0 indicates my pendant watch in general having a watch proper portion 1 l and a suspending portion l2 for the same.

In the preferred embodiment shown in the drawing, the watch proper portion H is coma shell shaped hollow body, the closed rear surface [4 of which preferably is shaped and ornamented in any desired manner to imitate a fruit, like in the embodiment shown in the drawing, it is an imitation of an apple.

Any usual watch movement i5- is set into the shell or casing 13 by any appropriate means, or simply by a frictional engagement, said movement having a dial face I6, as usual, on which the hours may be read, and it being covered by a transparent crystal H.

A slot l'fl is provided at an appropriate part of the casing, preferably at the lower part thereof, through which protrudes the winding stem [9 of the watch terminating in a winding crown 20. The upper end of the watch casing is provided with an aperture 2lterminating in a recess 22, and the lowermost element 23 of the suspending means for my pendant watch has a pin-like portion 2 in the aperture 21 around which the pendant watch proper It may rotate. A sleeve 2 la may be provided in aperture 2|.

A head 25 is provided for the pin 24 securing the watch on the pin but permitting its rotation,

' said head 25 being housed in the recess 22 so as not to interfere with the watch movement l5 set into the casing 13. The lowermost member 23 of the suspending means is made part of the design of said suspending means.

In the embodiment shown, as has been mentioned, the suspending design for the watch imitates an apple hanging on some branches having leaves thereon, and the member 23 is imitating a lowermost branch on which is a leaf 26.

In the embodiment shown, the suspending means proper are in the form of a safety pin 21, the construction and use of which will be obvious, and the outer surface 28 thereof may be finished to fit into the general design of the apple branch and leaves.

A chain member 29 may connect the upper portion of the suspending means with the lower portion or stem 23 thereof, said chain 29 permitting the bending or turning of said branch or stem 23 with the watch ll thereon in an upward direction, that is, rocking the same on a horizontal axis.

As it is well known to those versed in this art, pendant watches, which have an ornamental normally exposed back surface and a reading or dial face normally hidden, are awkward to read, since they have to be turned upwardly and read in that position.

With my invention, the reading of such a posed of a watch casing I3 being in the form of watch is greatly facilitated. While normally their dial faces may be concealed and only their design or ornamental effect shown, like the apple and apple branch effect in the preferred embodiment of my invention described hereinbefore, with my invention, when it is desired to read the watch, the same will be turned 180 around a vertical axis, or on the branch member 23, until it will take up the position indicated in Fig. 3, whereupon the same may be rocked upwardly, as indicated by the arrow 30 in Fig. 2, and the face thereof easily read. After reading the watch may be dropped back into a vertical position, then again turned 180, whereupon it will appear as shown in Fig. 1, in a position showing its orna-, mental effect and concealing its dial.

What I claim as new, is:

1. A pendant watch having a casing imitating one-half of a fruit in the form of a hollow shell with a normally exposed front face showing the fruit design, and an open rear face, a watch movement set into said casing, the dial thereof being shown through said open rear face of the shell and being normally concealed, means to suspend said watch on a piece of garment on the body of the wearer, an exposed observable portion of said suspension means, and said fruit imitating front face of said shell, comprising a harmonious design imitating a part of the plant of the respective fruit, said suspension means including an elongated element, said watch casing being rotatable on said elongated element to permit the inspection of the normally'concealed rear dial face thereof, when desired.

A pendant watch having a casing imitating one-half of a fruit in the form of a hollow shell i with a normally exposed front face showing the fruit design, and an open rear face, a watch movement set into said casing, the dial thereof being shown through said open rear face of the shell and being normally concealed, means to suspend saidwatch on a piece of garment n the body of the wearer, an exposed observable portion of said suspension means, and said fruit imitating front face of said shell, comprising a harmonious design imitating a part of the plant of the respective fruit, said suspension means including an elongated elernent, said watch casing being rotatable on said elongated element to permit the inspection of the normally concealed rear dial face thereof, when desired, said elongated element also being pivotally connected with the rest of the suspension means to permit an upward tilting of the watch casing after it has been turned, for better inspection of the dial face.

A pendant watch having a casing imitating one-half of a fruit in the form of a hollow shell with a normally exposed front face showing the fruit design, and an openrear face, a watch movement set into said casing, the dial thereof being shown through said open rear face of the shell and being normally concealed, means to suspend said watch on a piece of garment on the body of the wearer, an exposed observable portion of said suspension means, and said fruit imitating front face of said shell, comprising a harmonious design imitating a part of the plant of the respective fruit, said suspension means including an elongated element, said watch casing being rotatable on said elongated element to permit the inspection of the normally concealed rear dial face thereof when desired, and said suspension means including a transverse element adapted to engage the garment to provide a support and reaction when it is desired to turn the watch casing.

4. In a pendant watch, as set forth in claim 2, the markings of the watch dial being in an upsidedown relation in a normal position thereof, so as to better read them when the watch case is turned and upwardly tilted, suspended on the body of the wearer. y
