Application April 8, 1940, Serial No. 328,403
1 Claim.
This invention relates to a sanitary shield for the seat of a commode, and the main object is to provide such a device in the form of a sheet of paper, preferably medicated, having certain parts which may be extended downward. The shield is out in a shape and of a size to cover the seat, and is scored, cut or similarly constructed along lines to permit separation of parts of the material that are to be bent downwardly.
The present shield is very simple in design and has a downward portion at the rear and a downward portion at the front when in use.
The shield may be made of any flexible material best suited for the purpose but I prefer to make it of what is commonly called medicated paper of a suitable thickness.
By referring to the accompanying drawing, which is to be considered a part of the application, it will be observed that Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a commode seat with the cover in place. Fig. 2 is a sectional view through the center of the long axis of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a plan view of the paper seat cover.
Similar reference numerals refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
Referring to the drawing it will be observed that I is the paper cover with portions cut out as indicated by 2. The tabs, 3, are to be bent downward when the cover is used and for this purpose the cover is out along lines 6. The commode top or seat is indicated by 4 and it rests on a standard commode bowl indicated by 5. Fig. 1 shows the cover in position for use.
The paper cover may be held in any convenient receptacle adjacent the commode seat so as to be easily accessible when wanted for use.
While I have shown the preferred embodiment of my invention I do not wish to limit myself to the precise and exact details of structure but reserve the right to make any and all modifications and changes so long as I remain within the spirit and scope of the following claim.
Having described my invention I claim:
A commode seat cover comprising a sheet of heavy paper having a substantially octagon shaped circumference and a substantially round central opening except two opposite extending tongues with their sides cut into the cover portion to permit said tongues to be bent downward when in use.
WILLIAM O. WALLACE.
