11 Claims.
The present invention relates to improvements in plumbing fixtures and more particularly to plumbing fixtures having a plurality of valves for controlling the flow of water to other plumbing fixtures such, for instance, as a shower-head. One of the objects of the present invention is to provide a superior plural-valve plumbing fixture in which the supply of water of the desired volume may be directed to a shower fixture or other plumbing fixture without affecting or altering the selected temperature of the water.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a plural-valve plumbing fixture having superior means incorporated therein whereby the desired volume of water at a pre-selected temperature may be quickly and easily controlled without requiring resetting of the individual hot-water and cold-water valves.
A further object of the present invention is to provide a superior plural-valve plumbing fixture having incorporated therein positive volumecontrol means for controlling the volume of water to a shower fixture or the like, and which is effective and economical to manufacture.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide a superior water-control unit embodying in compact and effective relationships, individual hot-water control-means, individual cold-water control-means, and means for vary- 3O ing the combined output of both of the other said means, without disturbing the relative percentages of hot and cold water in the outflow from the unit.
With the above and other objects in view, as will appear to those skilled in the art from the present disclosure, this invention includes all features in the said disclosure which are novel over the prior art and which are not claimed in any separate application,

The particular plural-valve plumbing fixture herein chosen for illustration of the present invention includes a hollow distributing-head l5 which may be conveniently formed by casting and which, in the instance shown, is provided with two corresponding forwardly-projecting externallyand internally-threaded tubular extensions constituting valve-bodies 0r housings l6 and I1 and respectively located at the upper lefthand corner and upper right-hand corner of the distributing-head, as shown in Fig 6.
Immediately beneath the integral valve-body 16, the distributing-head I5 is formed with a hollow enlargement. l8 corresponding to a similar hollow enlargement 19 formed on the opposite side of the distributing-head immediately below the valve-body I'l, before referred to. Horizontally intermediate the hollow enlargements l8 and I9, the distributor-head I5 is formed with a hollow enlargement 20 corresponding to the enlargements I8 and I9 before referred to, the said enlargement 20 being disposed beneath the enlargements l8 and I9 as is particularly well shown in Fig. 6.
The hollow enlargement I8 is joined to the enlargement 20 by an integral web 2| complemental to a web 22 joining the enlargements l9 and 2;! together and formed integral therewith.
Leading downwardly from the valve-body or housing I! of the distributing-head i5 is a cold- Water connecting-passage 23, the lower end of which leads to the interior of the enlargement l9 before referred to, and the upper end of which extends beneath an integral partition 24 (Figs. 4 and '7). Threaded into the partition 24 is a removable and replaceable tubular valveseat bushing 25 having a polygonal Waterpassage 26 leading forwardly to the adjacent end of the horizontal reach 21 of a T-shaped mixingchamber generally designated by the reference character 28.
Engageable with the forward face of the valve-seat bushing 25 to check or regulate the flow. of cold water from the enlargement I9 into the T-shaped mixing-chamber 28 of the distributing-head, is a valve-head 29 provided with an externally-threaded enlarged portion 30 engageable with threads 3| formed in the inner periphery of the valve-body I l and serving, when rotated by means of a valve-stem 32, to advance and retire the valve-head 29 as a whole toward and away from the valve-seat bushing 25.
The valve-stem 32, above referred to, extends outwardly through a sealing-washer 33, a clamping-washer 34 and a packing-nut 35 and is provided, at its outer end, in any approved manner, with a valve-handle 36. The sealing-washer 33 is preferably formed of indurated fiber and is seated against the outer edge of the valve-body l1 by the clamping-washer 34 which, in turn, is seated against an inwardly-facing clampingshoulder 31 formed in the packing-nut 35 intermediate a packing-pocket 38 and the internallythreaded skirt 39 thereof. The packing-pocket 38 of the packing-nut 35 is filled with fibrous packing material 45 and the skirt 39 of the packing-nut is threadedly engaged with threads 4|,
formed upon the outer periphery of the valvebody l1, as is clearly shown in Fig. 4.
The valve mechanism above described and located in the valve-body. constitutes, in the structure shown, a cold-water control-valve and, for convenience of description, will be generally designated by the reference character 42. The valve-body I6 is provided with a hot-water control-valve generally designated by the reference character 43, the mechanism of which COII'G', sponds to the mechanism of the cold-water control-valve 42, and where parts thereof appear in the drawings, such parts bear similar reference characters.
Leading downwardly from the valve-body or housing l6 of the hot-water control-valve 43 is a hot-water connecting-passage 44, the lower end of which leads to the interior of the enlargement IS. The hot-water control-valve 43, in a manner similar to the cold-water control-valve 42, communicates with the adjacent end of the horizontal arm 21 of the T-shaped mixing-chamber 28. Extending from front to rear through the enlargement IQ of the distributing-head i5 is a passage 45. Similarly, the enlargement I8 is also provided with a central-passage 46. The passages 45 and 46, respectively formed in the enlargements l9 and I8, each receive one of two corresponding water-inlet connecting-members 41, one of which is especially well shown in Fig. 4. Each of the said water-inlet connecting-members 41 includes a forwardly-projecting externallythreaded stud-like portion 48 and a rearwardlyextending socket 49 having internal threads and receiving the externally-threaded forward end of a water-inlet nipple 50. Each water-inlet connecting-member 41 is also provided with an axial water-passage 5| communicating at its rear end with the socket 49, and at its forward end the said water-passage 5| is intersected by radial water-passages 52 extending through the adjacent Wall of the stud-portion 48 from the outer periphery thereof into communication with the passage 5|. The passages 52 52 communicate with the interior of the particular one of the enlargements l8 and IS in which the given connecting-member 41 is mounted, and hence in communication with the hot-Water connecting-passage 44 or cold-water connectingpassage 23 respectively leading into the enlargements I8 and I9.
Each water-inlet connecting-member 41 is formed with an enlargedsealing-flange 53 of rounded form in cross section and adapted to make a substantially line-contact with the sloping surface of a rearwardly-facing conical sealing-seat 54 formed in the rear face of each of the enlargements l9 and I8 concentrically with the passages 45 and 46 respectively therein. Formed in the forward face of each of the enlargements referred to concentrically with the passages 45 and 46 respectively therein, is a forwardly-facing conical sealing-seat 55 which is engaged by the rounded inner-face 56 of a sealing-nut 51. The said sealing-nut is provided with an internallythreaded socket 53 closed at its forward end by an end-wall 59 and receiving the externallythreaded stud-like portion 48 of the complemental water-inlet connecting-member 41.
By tightening the sealing-nut 51, the sealingflange 53 of its complemental connecting-member 41 is seated against the conical sealing-seat 54 in the rear face'of the respective enlargement in which the connecting-member may be mounted, and at the same time, the rounded innerface 56 of the sealing-nut 51 is firmly seated against the forwardly-facing conical sealing-seat 55 in the said enlargement. In this manner the leakage of water from within the distributinghead along the contacting-surfaces 5354 and 5556 is effectively prevented.
As before pointed out, each of the connectingmembers 41, respectively mounted in the enlargements I8 and I9, has coupled thereto a nipple 50, the rear end of each of which is threaded into an elbow 60. Each of the elbows 6|] just referred to, is preferably formed with a polygonal portion 6| seated in a similarly-shaped socket 62 formed in a sheet-metal template 63. The externallythreaded portion adjacent the polygonal portion 6| of each of the elbows 60 has threaded thereon a nut 64 to securely hold the elbows 60 in place with respect to the template 63.

Placed over the distributing-head l5 and concealing the same as well as concealing the inner portions of the two valve-bodies l6 and I1, is a sheet-metal escutcheon or finishing-plate 61 having, in the instance shown, a rearwardly-extending polygonal-flange 6B contacting with the outer surface of a wall 69 and including a substantiallyflat front-portion which is provided with two perforations 1|, through each of which respectively extend one of the valve-bodies I6 and I1. The front-portion 10 of the escutcheon or finishing-plate 61 is also formed with aperforation 12 located horizontally intermediate the perforations 1|. For the purpose of conveniently retaining the escutcheon 61 in place, a cup-shaped retaining-nut 13 is threaded upon the external threads of each of the valve-bodies l6 and I1 respectively.
Returning to the enlargement 20, is will be noted that the said enlargement is formed with a central-passage 14 extending from front to rear therethrough, in which is installed a wateroutlet connecting-member generally designated by the reference character 15. The water-outlet connecting-member includes a forwardlyprojecting externally-threaded stud-like portion 16 (Fig. 3) which is in communication with the T-shaped mixing-chamber 28 in a manner as will hereinafter appear, and a rearwardly-extending internally-threaded socket 11.

Extending radially through the side wall of the stud-like portion I6 from the outer periphery thereof to the valve-chamber I9, are two radial passages 8| located diametrically opposite to each other. By referring to Figs. 3 and 5 of the drawings, it will be observed that the passages 8| open into the interior of the enlargement 20 and hence into the lower end of the vertical reach 82 of the T-shaped mixing-chamber 28, the said vertical reach being in communication with the interior of the said enlargement 20.
Mounted in the valve-chamber I9 with capacity for turning movement therein is a cylindrical valve-head 83 provided with a. relativelyslender integral valve-stem 8 3 to the outer free endof which is coupled for rotation therewith a cup-shaped operating finger-piece 85 having a knurled periphery and held against axial displacement from the said valve-stem by a screw 86. The valve-head 83 is formed with an axial chamber 81 opening through its inner end in axial alignment with the passage 8i formed in the connecting-member I5 and therefore into communication with the internally-threaded socket II of the said connecting-member. The side wall of the valve-head 83 is formed with two diametrically-opposite water-outlet ports 88 extendin radially from the outer periphery of the said valve-head inwardly to the chamber 81 to intersect the latter. The said outlet-ports 88 are adapted to be brought wholly or partly into registration with the passages BI formed in the stud-portion It of the connecting-member I5 as shown in Figs, 3 and 5.
The inner end of the valve-head 83 is seated against a shoulder 85 at the junction of the valve-chamber I9 and the passage 89 in the connecting-member I5, and is held against axial outward displacement by a helical spring 93 surrounding the valve-stem 84 and located in a recess 9! formed in the end wall of an internallythreaded socket 92 of a sealing-nut 93. One end of the spring 9!) thrusts against the end wall of the recess 9i while the other end thereof thrusts against the adjacent forward face of the valvehead 83, the said spring serving to constantly but yieldingly hold the inner end of the valvehead 83 seated against the shoulder 8% to thus insure the ports is? being axially in line with the 55 passages BI.
The water-outlet connecting-member I5 is formed with an enlarged sealing-flange 9d of rounded form in cross section and adapted in a manner similar to the water-inlet connectingmember ll before referred to, to make a substantially line contact with the sloping surface of a rearwardly-facing conical sealing-seat 95 formed in the rear face of the enlargement 20 concentrically with the passage I4 therein. The forward face of the enlargement 20 is formed concentrically with the passage I4 therein, with a conical sealing-seat 96 in opposition and complemental to the sealing-seat 95, and which is engaged by the rounded inner face 91! of the sealing-nut 93 before referred to.
The sealing-nut 93 has its threaded socket 92 receiving the externally-threaded stud-like portion iii of the complemental water-outlet connecting-member I5, and by tightening the seal- 75- ing-nut $33, the sealing-flange 94 of the connectsealing-seat 95 in the rear face of the enlargement 2!]. At the same time, the rounded inner face 91 of the sealing-nut 93 is firmly seated against the forwardly-facing conical sealingseat 96 in the said enlargement. In this manner the leakage of water from within the distributing-head past the contacting-surfaces 94-35 and tit-97, is eifectively prevented.
The sealing-nut 93 is formed with a forwardlyextending sleeve 98 which is both internally and externally threaded and which projects forwardly through the perforation 12 before referred to, in the finishing-plate 61. The valvestem 84 extends forwardly through, and has bearing in, a bearing-passage 9t axially formed in the sleeve 98, and is surrounded by packing material I90 located in the said sleeve 93 and compressed therein by a gland-nut IIlI which is threaded within the said sleeve 98. Removably threaded upon the exterior of the sleeve 98 is a retaining-nut I02 provided with a knurled periphery, and also having a radially-extending flange I03 which bears against the front face of the escutcheon 67 and serves toprovide a finishing member which conceals the external threads upon the sleeve 98 of the sealing-nut 93. The parts just above described constitute what may for convenience of description be called a volume-control valve I04.
As before pointed out, the water-outlet connecting-member I5 has coupled thereto a nipple I8, the rear end of which is threaded into an elbow I05 which is formed with a polygonal portion IBE seated in a similarly-shaped locatingsocket IB'I in the sheet-metal template 63 before described. The elbow I65 is retained in place with respect to the template by a retainingnut I08 and has coupled to its upwardly-extending arm a pipe I09 leading to a shower-head or the like.
The particular plural-valve plumbing fixture herein chosen for illustration provides for either selectively supplying hot or cold water or supplying a mixture of both hot and cold water to a shower head or the like, as will be obvious from the foregoing description and the accompanying drawings. Thus, for instance, should the valves 42 and 43 be simultaneously opened, both hot and cold water will be mixed in the mixingchamber 28 to any desired temperature by manipulating the valves 42 and 43 and will flow upwardly through the pipe I09 to the shower-head when the parts constituting the volume-control valve 34 are in the positions in which they are shown in Figs. 3 and 5.
With the ports 88 formed in the valve-head 83 of the volume-control valve IM in full registration with the passages 8! of the stud-like portion I5 forming part of the connecting-member I5, as shown in Figs. 3 and 5, water will flow outwardly from the mixing-chamber Z8 and the interior of the enlargement 20 through the passages BI and the ports 88 into the chamber 8? formed in the valve-head 83, and hence from there through the passage 86 out through the nipple l8 and the pipe Ill-El to the shower-head at its maximum or greatest flow.
If it should be desired to reduce the volume or flow of water from the distributing-head to the shower-head without affecting or changing the relative amounts of hot and cold water delivered to the mixing-chamber 28, the same may be accomplished by rotating the operating-fingerpiece to thus turn the valve-head 83 with respect to the stud-like portion 16 of the connecting-member 75. This turning movement will move the ports 88 of the valve-head 83 out of full registration with the passages 8! formed in the said stud-like portion. By moving the ports 88 out of full registration with the passages 8|, the said ports will be closed off reducing their effective size to thereby reduce the volume or flow of Water passing therethrough to the shower-head. It will be understood, of course, that the ports 88 may be moved out of registration with the pasages 8! any degree desired to efliciently and accurately control or regulate the volume of water flowing from the distributorhlead to the shower-head.
From the foregoing it will be understood that by manipulating the Valves 42 and 43, the hot Water and cold water may be mixed together to any desired temperature in the mixing-chamber 28, and that the volume of water flowing from the distributor-head to the shower may be effectively and easily regulated by the volumecontrol valve I04 without changing the selected temperature of the water.
The invention may be carried out in other specific ways than those herein set forth without departing from the spirit and essential characteristics of the invention, and the present embodiments are, therefore, to be considered in all respects as illustrative and not restrictive, and all changes coming within the meaning and equivalency range of the appended claims are intended to be embraced therein.
I claim:
1. A plural-valve plumbing fixture including in combination: a hollow distributing-head having a hot-water inlet, a cold-water inlet, a T-shaped mixing-chamber communicating with the said hot-water inlet and the said cold-water inlet, hot-water-valve-receiving means interposed between the said hot-water inlet and the said T- shaped mixing-chamber, cold-water-valve-receiving means located intermediate the said coldwater inlet and the said T-shaped mixing-chamber, and a mixed-water outlet comprising volume-control-valve-receiving means having an axial passage enlarged intermediate the respec-,
,tive opposite ends thereof to provide a flow-chamher in the said distributing-head communicating with the said T-shaped mixing-chamber thereof;
a hot-water-control valve mounted in the hotwater-valve-receiving means of the said distributing-head; a cold-water-control valve installed in the cold-water-valve-receiving means of the said distributing-head; and a volume-control valve installed in the volume-control-valve-receiving means of the said distributing-head and constructed and arranged to be selectively dis posed at full-open position, full-shut position, and intermediate positions with respect to the said flow-chamber to control the outflow therefrom of hot and cold water mixed in the T- shaped mixing-chamber of the said distributinghead.
2. A plural-valve plumbing fixture including in combination: a hollow distributing-head having a hot-water inlet, a cold-water inlet, a mixingchamber communicating with the said hot-water inlet and cold-water inlet, a hot-water-valve housing projecting from. the distributing-head intermediate the hot-water inlet and the mixingchamber, a cold-water-valve housing projecting from the distributing-head at a point intermediate the said cold-Water inlet and the said mixingchamber, and a mixed-water outlet comprising volume-control-valve-receiving means having an axial passage enlarged intermediate the respective opposite'ends thereof to provide a flowchamber in the said distributing-head communicatingryvith the said mixing-chamber thereof; a
hotawater-control valve mounted in the hot- -wate rvalv e housing of the said distributinghead; a cold-water-control valve installed in the cold-water-valve housing of the said distributing-head; and a volume-control valve installed in the volume-control-valve-receiving means of the said distributing-head and surrounded by the flow-chamber thereof, the said volume-control valve being constructed and arranged to be selectively disposed in full-open position, full-shut position and intermediate positions with respect to the said flow-chamber to control the outflow therefrom of hot and cold water mixed in the mixing-chamber of the said distributing-head.
3. A plural-valve plumbing fixture including in combination: a hollow distributing-head having a hot-water inlet, a cold-water inlet, a T- shaped mixing-chamber communicating with the said hot-water inlet and cold-water inlet, a hotwater-valve housing projecting from the distributing-head intermediate the hot-water inlet and the T-shaped mixing-chamber, a cold-watervalve housing projecting from the distributinghead at a point intermediate the said cold-water inlet and the said T-shaped mixing-chamber, the latter having a lateral inlet-branch thereof communicating with each of the respective valvehousings, and a mixed-water outlet comprising volume-control-valve-receiwng means communicating with a vertically-disposed outlet-branch of the said T-shaped mixing-chamber; a hotwater-control valve mounted in the hot-watervalve housing of the said distributing-head at the open end of one of the lateral inlet-branches of the T-shaped mixing-chamber thereof; a cold-watercontrol valve installed in the cold-water-valve housing of the said distributing-head at the open end of the other of the lateral inlet-branches of the T-shaped mixing chamber thereof; and a volume-control valve installed in the volumecontrol-valve-receiving means of the said distributing-head at the open end of the vertical outlet-branch of the T-shaped mixing-chamber to control the outflow from the said distributinghead of hot and cold water mixed in the T-shaped mixing-chamber thereof.
4.- A plural-valve plumbing fixture including in combination: a hollow distributing-head having a hot-water inlet, a cold-water inlet, a mixedwater outlet having a volume-control-valve receiving passage extending therethrough from front to rear and enlarged intermediate the respective opposite ends thereof to provide a flowchamber, and a mixing-chamber communicating with the said hot-water inlet and cold-water inlet and flow-chamber of the said distributinghead; a, hot-water-control valve mounted in the distributing-head intermediate the hot-water inlet and the mixing-chamber thereof; a cold- Water-control valve mounted in the distributinghead intermediate the cold-water inlet and the mixing-chamber thereof; and a volume-control valve installed in the volume-control-valve passage of the said distributing-head and surrounded by the said flow-chamber, the said volume-control valve being provided with a plurality of passages for communicably connecting the interior thereof with the flow-chamber of the said distributing-head and being constructed and arranged to be selectively disposed in full-open position, full-shut position and intermediate positions with respect to the said flow-chamber to control the outflow therefrom of hot and cold water mixed in the mixing-chamber of the said distributing-head.

A1plural-valve plumbing fixture including in combination: a hollow distributing-head hav ing a hot-Water inlet, a cold-water inlet, a mixedwater outlet having a volume-control-valve passage extending therethrough from front to rear and enlarged intermediate the respective opposite ends thereof to provide a flow-chamber, and a T-shaped mixing-chamber communicating with the said hot-water inlet and cold-water inlet and flow-chamber of the said distributing-head; a hot-water-control valve mounted in the distributing-head intermediate the hot-water inlet and the T-shaped mixing-chamber thereof in position to controlan open end of one of two intercommunicating lateral inlet-branches of the T- shaped mixing-chamber; a cold-water-control valve mounted in the distributing-head intermediate the cold-water inlet and the T-shaped mixing-chamber thereof in position to control an open end of the second of the two intercommunicating lateral inlet-branches of the T-shaped mixing-chamber; and a volume-control valve installed in the volume-control-valve passage of the said distributing-head adjacent an open end of an outlet-branch of the T-shaped mixing-chamber communicating with the respective lateral inlet-branches and extending vertically therefrom, the said volume-control valve being constructed and arranged to be selectively disposed ,in full-open position, full-shut position and intermediate positions with respect to the said flowchamber of the distributing-head to control the outflow therefrom of hot and cold water mixed in the T-shaped mixing-chamber of the said dis tributing-head.

A plural-valve plumbing fixture including in combination: a hollow distributing-head having a hot-water inlet, a cold-water inlet, a mixedwater outlet having a volume-control-valve passage eXtending therethrough from front to rear and enlarged intermediate the respective opposite ends thereof to provide a flow-chamber, two oppositely-facing seats respectively extending outwardly from the flow-chamber in the said distributing-head at the respective opposite ends of the said volume-control-valve passage, and a mixing-chamber communicating with the said hot-water inlet and cold-water inlet and flowchamber of the said distributing-head; a hot- Water-control valve mounted in the distributinghead intermediate the hot-water inlet and the mixing-chamber thereof; a cold-water-control valve mounted in the distributing-head intermediate the cold-water inlet and the mixingchamber thereof; a volume-control valve-structure installed in the volume-control-valve passage of the said distributing-head and surrounded by the flow-chamber therein, the said volumecontrol valve being constructed and arranged to be selectively disposed in full-open position, fullshut position and intermediate positions with respect to the flow-chamber in the said distribut ing-head and having a seat engageable with the seat at one side of the flow-chamber in the said distributing-head; and a clamping-member threaded to the said volume-control valve-structure and engaging with the remaining one of the two seats of the said distributing-head at the opposite side of the flow-chamber therein to hold the volume-control valve-structure in place against axial displacement.
71 A plural-valve plumbing fixture including incombination: a hollow distributing-head having a hot-water inlet, a cold-water inlet, a mixed- Water outlet, a volume-control-valve passage extending therethrough from front to rear, and a mixing-chamber communicating with the said hot-water inlet and cold-water inlet and volumecontrol-valve passage; a hot-water-control valve mounted in the distributing-head intermediate the hot-water inlet and the mixing-chamber thereof; a cold-water-control valve mounted in the distributing-head intermediate the coldwater. inlet and the mixing-chamber thereof; a valveehousingremovably installed in the volumeccntro'lrvalve passage of the said distributinghead and having an axial valve-head-receiving socket therein communicating laterally with the mixing-chamber of the said distributing-head and communicating axially at one end with the mixed-water outlet of the said distributing-head; and a rotary volume-control valve-head installed in the socket in the said valve-housing and rotatable to control the flow of water therethrcugh from the mixing-chamber of the said distributing-head to the mixed-water outlet of the said distributing-head.
8. A plural-valve plumbing fixture including in combination: a hollow distributing-head having a hot water inlet, a cold-water inlet, a mixedwater outlet, a volume-control-valve passage ex-.
tending therethrough from front to rear, and a mixing-chamber communicating with the said hot-water inlet and cold-water inlet and volumecontrol-valve passage; a hot-water-control valve mounted in the distributing-head intermediate the hot-water inlet and the mixing-chamber thereof; a cold-water-c-ontrol valve mounted in the distributing-head intermediate the cold- Water inlet and the mixing-chamber thereof; a valve-housing installed in the volume-controlvalve passage of the said distributing-head and having an axial valve-receiving socket therein, a radial port extending from the valve-receiving socket into communication with the mixingchamber of the said distributing-head, and an outlet-port through one of its ends in communication with the mixed-water outlet of the said distributing-head; and a rotary volume-control valve-head mounted for rotation in the valvereceiving socket of the said valve-housing and having an axial water-passage communicating with the outlet-port of the said valve-housing and also having a radial port connecting its axial water-passage with the radial port in the said valve-housing.

A plural-valve plumbing fixture including in combination: a hollow distributing-head having a hot-water inlet, a cold-water inlet, a mixedwater outlet, a volume-control-valve passage extending therethrough from front to rear, two oppositely-facing seats respectively at the respective opposite ends of the said control-valve passage, and a mixing-chamber communicating with the said hot-water inlet and cold-water inlet and volnme-control-valve passage; a hot-Water-control valve mounted in the distributing-head intermediate the hot-water inlet and the mixingchamber thereof; a cold-water-control valve mounted in the distributing-head intermediate the cold-water inlet and the mixing-chamber thereof; a valve-housing removably installed in the volume-control-valve passage of the said distributing-head and having an axial valve-headreceiving socket therein communicating laterally with the mixing-chamber of the said distributing-head and communicating axialy at one end with the mixed-water outlet of the said distributing-head; a rotary volume-control valve-head installed in the socket in the said valve-housing and rotatable to control the flow of water therethrough from the mixing-chamber of the said distributing-head to the mixed-water outlet of the said distributing-head; and two clampingmembers carried by the said valve-housing and respectively engaging one of the two oppositelyfacing seats of the said distributing-head.

A plural-valve plumbing fixture including in combination: a hollow distributing-head having a hot-water inlet, a cold-water inlet, a mixedwater outlet, a volume-control-valve passage extending therethrough from front to rear, two oppositely-facing seats respectively at the respective opposite ends of the said control-valve passage, and a mixing-chamber communicating with the said hot-water inlet and cold-water inlet and volume-control-valve passage; a hot-water-control valve mounted in the distributing-head intermediate the hot-water inlet and the mixingchamber thereof; a cold-water-control Valve mounted in the distributing-head intermediate the cold-water inlet and the mixing-chamber thereof; a, valve-housing installed in the volumecontrol-valve passage of the said distributinghead and having an axial valve-receiving socket therein, a radial port extending from the Valvereceiving socket into communication with the mixing-chamber of the said distributing-head, and an outlet-port through one of its ends in communication with the mixed-water outlet of the said distributing-head; a rotary volume-control valve-head mounted for rotation in the valve-receiving socket of the said valve-housing and having an axial water-passage therein communicating wtih the outlet-port of the said valvehousing and also having a radial port connecting its axial water-passage with the radial port in the said valve-housing; and two clamping-members carried by the said valve-housing and respectively engaging one of the two oppositelyfacing seats of the said distributing-head.

A plural-valve plumbing fixture including in combination: a hollow distributing-head having a plurality of control-valves organized therewith and controlling the flow of water thereto, and also having a mixing-chamber therein and a water-outlet passage extending through the said distributing-head substantially perpendicular thereto and in communication with the said mixing-chamber; a connecting-member coupled to a piping system and having a projecting portion extending into the water-outlet passage in the said distributing-head and also having an axial chamber therein communicating with the mixing-chamber in the said distributing-head, the said connecting-member also having a portion in sealing engagement with the rear wall of the said distributing-head; a clamping-member connected to the said connecting-member and having a passage extending axially therethrough and also having a portion in sealing engagement with the front wall of the said distributing-head; and a volume-control valve hav-- ing a hollow valve-head axially mounted with capacity for turning movement in the said connecting-member and having one end thereof yieldingly engaging a portion of the said connecting-member and having an operating-stem extending forwardly through the axial passage in the said clamping-member, the interior of the valve-head being in communication with the said piping system, the said valve-head also having water-passages in communication with the interior thereof and with the mixing-chamber of the said distributing-head, the said volume-control valve serving to regulate the volume of flow of water from the mixing-chamber in the said distributing-head to a shower fixture.
