Description
E. P. GORDON. Gage for Circular-Sawing Machine.
No. 221,804. Patnted Nov. 18, 1879'.
N-PETERS, FHOTO-UTHOGRAPMEH. wAsmNGTON, D c
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFIoE.
EDWARD F. GORDON, OF CONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE, ASSIGNOR TO JOHN A. WHITE, OF SAME PLACE.
IMPROVEMENT IN GAGES FOR ClRCULA R SAWING MACHINES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 221,804, dated November 18, 1879; application filed October. 27, 1879.
- a specification, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, which are made a part hereof.
In said drawings, Figure 1 is an end view of said rest.
At a, Fig. 1, is shown a guide, which is screwed to the table and extends along the edge thereof, as shown at Fig. 2, and the end or section thereof, as shown at a, Fig. 3. A slide, 6, is made to fit said guide, and may be clamped to it at any point by the set-screw c, or by a cam or other equivalent device.
To the top of the slide b a frame, (Z, is attached by screws, as shown, the screw at e passing through an oblong slot in the frame cl to allow sufficient motion to square the rest with the table. The frame d carries my rest f, which is connected therewith by the links provided with bearings i t. The links at the other end swingrupon pivots or bolts passing through the ears g g.
Oorrespondin g ears 7a 7a are attached to my a Fig. 2 is a top view, and Fig. 3'
is a front view thereof.
rest f, and through both sets of disks I pass the rod h, provided with the thumb-screw m at one end, and having a fixed head upon the other end. By turning up said thumb-screw the disks it and 7c is are brought together with sufficient force to hold the rest f stationary in any position to which it may be adjusted.
If a bevel rest is required, loosen the thumbscrew, and set the rest to the desired bevel and fasten it.
When the rest is not needed for use loosen the clampscrew c, and lift the rest from the table.
By changing slightly the shape of the frame d, this rest may be made reversible in such manner that it may be used on either side the saw.
I claim as my invention and desire to sc= cure by Letters Patent The links provided with the bearings i z, the rest f provided with ears k k, the rod h and adjusting set-screw m, combined with the slide 1), having the set-screw 0, whereby the rest is adjustable, and removable from the table without sliding it off the ends of the guide, substantially as set forth.
E. F. GORDON.
