2 Claims.

Myinvention relates to improvements in pis tol holsters of the underarm type.

The invention is designed with the particular purpose in view of providing a holder of the G'type indicated which may be worn under the arm with comfort and support the pistol within quick and easy reach without the use of the uncomfortable shoulder strap hampering movement of the arm under which the holster is worn.

Another object is to provide a holster of the type for the purpose above set forth and which is adapted forcarrying the pistol high above the waistline and for support by the usual pants belt close to the side of the wearer.

To the accomplishment of the above, and subordinate objects presently appearing, a preferred embodiment of my invention has been illustrated in the accompanying drawings, set forth in detail in the succeeding description and defined in the claims appended hereto.

Referringtothe drawings by numerals, the

holster of my invention comprises a pair of complemental front and rear

elongated sections

2 and 3, respectively, preferably of leather stitched together around the edges thereof by a double row of stitching, as at 4 and 5, and of a shape to provide the holster with a lower straight end 6, a right angularly related rear edge I, an obtuse angled front edge 8 of which substantially the lower half is at a right angle to the lower end 6,

and an upper edge 9 inclining downwardly from the front edge 8 to the rear edge I. The overall length, or height, of said holster I is such that when worn under the arm it will extend approximately from the waistline to within a short distance of the armpit, it being understood that the holster will be made in different sizes as required.

4 and 5 forms therebetween a closed hem it! around the edge of the holster I in which is confined a rod-like reinforcing frame PATENT orries II, of resilient metal, conforming in shape to that of the holster I but open at its upper end, as at l 2, to provide for flexing of the holster from the lower end 6 upwardly out of a normal transverse curvature so that said holster may conform to 5 the body. Preferably the lower end of the frame II is bowed outwardly, or forwardly, to impart to said end a concavo-convex shape whereby it will conform to the curvature at the waistline.

Adjacent to the lower end of the holster a pair 10 of open belt loops M are secured thereon, as by stitching I5, said loops being on the front face of the front section 2 and provided with glove fasteners it for securing the lower end of the holster to a pants belt I1. Above the belt loops 15 I4 a short strap I8 is secured at its ends and one side, as by stitching I9, to the front face of the front section 2 in rearwardly and upwardly inclined position, said strap forming a loop-like pocket having a closed bottom for receiving the 20 butt end of the pistol grip 20 inserted therein rearwardly and downwardly. At the upper end of the holster I a similar strap ZI is stitched at its ends, as at 22 to the front face of the front section 2 and to extend across said end 9 in a 25 downwardly and rearwardly inclined position, said strap 2| forming an open bottom pocket having a closed upper end and extending across said end 9 in downwardly and rearwardly inclined position for conveniently extending the muzzle end of the pistol barrel upwardly into the same.

-In wearing the described holster I, it is attached to the pants belt I! with its lower end between the belt and the body of the wearer whereby it is held in upright position against the side of the torso by the belt and without drawing the latter so tight as to be uncomfortable.

Because of the described curvature of the lower end of the said holster I and the flexibility of the holster above said end, resulting from having the upper end of the frame II open, the holster I is adapted to conform to the side of the torso so that it will fit comfortably against the same. The described opposite inclination of the straps I8 and 2| provide for quickly inserting the pistol grip 20 and the muzzle end 22 of the pistol into the same and for quickly drawing the pistol as will readily be seen.

The foregoing will, it is believed, sufiice to impart a clear understanding of my invention without further explanation.

Manifestly, the invention, as described, is susceptible of modification without departing from the inventive concept and right is herein reserved to such modifications as fall within the scope of the subjoined claims.

What I claim is:

1. A pistol holster comprising a belt strap to be worn around the Waist, an elongated pad-like pistol carrier of semi-flexible material having a lower end slidably attached to said strap at the rear side of the latter for strapping of said caririer to the body 0f the wearer in upstanding position fiat against the side and under the arm of the wearer and for adjustment along said strap to vary the under-arm position thereof, and a pair of upper and lower strap-like pistol keepers extending transversely of the carrier and secured to the front face of the carrier adjacent the upper and lower ends thereof, said keepers providing upper and lower pockets opening toward each other for receiving the:

muzzle and pistol grip endsof said pistol, respectively, said keepers diverging forwardly to facilitate insertion of said ends of the pistol therein.

2. A pistol holster comprising a belt strap to be Worn around the waist, an elongated padlike pistol carrier of semi-flexible'material having a lower end slidably attached to said strap at the rear side of the latter for strapping of said carrier tothe body of the wearer in upstanding position fiat against the'side and under the arm of the wearer and for adjustment along said strap tovary the under-arm position thereof, a pair of upper and lower strap-like pistol keepers extending transversely of the carrier and secured to the front face of the carrier adjacent the upper and lower ends thereof, said keepers providing upper and lower pockets opening toward each other for receiving the muzzle and pistol grip ends of said pistol, respectively, said keepers diverging forwardly to facilitate insertion of said ends of the pistol therein, and a rod-like frame of resilient metal embedded in said carrier and extending along the lower end and side edges of the carrier to reinforce the same against tilting away from the wearer above said strap, said frame being open at the upper end of the carrier to permit the latter to twist above the strap and thereby conform.
