1 Claim.
This invention relates to tags such as price tags and the like which are adapted to be affixed to a garment by engagement with` one of, the buttons thereof.
The invention comprehends a tag having an opening therein through Which a button of the garment is adapted to be passedv for engagement of the tag betweenthe button and the garment and which tag is provided with a tongue projecting outwardly from an edge thereof adjacent said opening and adapted to be folded in traversing relation with the major portion of saidopening and to engage beneath the button for preventing the withdrawal of the button through said opening.
The invention further comprehends a tag of. the indicated character in which the opening therein is located adjacent the upper edge thereof and the said tongue extends upwardly therefrom at one side of the opening andwhich is adapted to be folded' on a line extending substantially at an angle of 45 to the plane of the projection to dispose the same in traversing relation with the lower portion of the opening and beneath the button for preventing'withdrawal of the button through the said opening.

Referring to the drawing by characters of refn erence, the tag includes a body Ill of. sheet material of any desired size and form which is provided with an opening II of a size to receive therethrough a button A koi a garment so as to suspend the sheet upon the connection B which joins the button to the garment.
As illustrated, the opening yI I is located adjacent the upper edge I2 of the tag and is of circular formation so that the same may be readily 1939, serial No. Y 292,024 (C1. -20) passedover the button and is-provided With a communicating notch I3 adjacent the upper edge of the tag for receiving therein the connection joining the button to the garment. o lIn order. to prevent unintentional disengage-v ment of the tag `from the garment, the tag is provided with a tongue I4 which projects outwardly from the upper'edge thereof adjacent to and at one side of the opening I I and which has "a vertical edge I5 disposed substantially parallel to the vertical medial' line of the lopening II. Below the tongue M and atone side of the opening II the tag is provided with a score line I6 extending across'the tag from the upper edge I2 thereof to the left side edge at an angle of to the edge I5 of the tongue I4. The tongue I4 K is `adapte-d to befolded on the said score line from a'position in. which the edge I5 is parallel with the vertical medial line of the opening II to a position perpendicular thereto and in which position the tongue traversesthe lower portion of the opening II and is adapted to engage beneath'the button A of the'vgarment for prevent- Aing withdrawal of the button through the opening II. l
