HOLDER I I Filed Aug. 10, 1938 2 Sheets-Sheet 1 Inventor A iiorneys Feb. 20, 1940. w, c. LA VEAU HOLDER Filed Aug. 10, 1938 2, Sheets-Sheet 2 Inventor u V a 1 w M a. m Ea W M am By and A ttorneys Patented Feb. 20, 1940 UNITED stares PATENT OFFICE 4 Claims.
This invention appertains to new and useful improvements in holders for ties, tie clips and collar clips.
The principal object of the present invention is to provide a holder of the character stated which will adequately hold several articles so that they will be ready at all times to permit each selection and application.
Another important object of the invention is to provide a holder which combines a mirror and individual holders for necktie and the like.
Other important objects and advantages of. the invention will become apparent to the reader of the following specification.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 represents a front elevational view of the holder.
Figure 2 is a sectional view on the line 2-4. of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a sectional view similar t that shown in Figure 2 but showing the clip in open position.
Figure 4 is a sectional view on the line l-i 01" F gure 1.
Referring to the drawings wherein like numerals designate like parts, it can be seen that numeral 5 represents the wall plate or panel which is provided at its lower portion with laterally disposed portions 6fi forwardly from which extend the arcuate-shaped walls 5-1. An elongated strip having an arcuate upper edge portion is denoted by numeral 8 and extends from. one wall 1 to the other wall l and has its ends anchored or embedded therein. This strip 8 serves as a holder for tie clips and collar clips one of which is being denoted by the numeral 9 and shown applied in dotted lines in Figure 3.
The clips are generally referred to by numeral it and each consists of a leg member ll suitably secured as by a screw or screws E2 to the for-- ward side of the plate 5. This leg ll extends downwardly and is provided with a head portion 53 beveled as at M on its lower side and defining a shoulder IE on its side opposed to the head i6 at the lower end of the rocker ii, the head it also being beveled at its lower portion as at it. The head 16 also has a shoulder l9 opposed to the shoulder 55. i The rocker H is rockably connected as at 20 to the leg I! and a spring 2| serves to normally maintain the head portions 13 and it toward each other as shown in Figure 2 and against a necktie 22 if one is interposed between the same.
The panel 5 can have a cut out 23 therein in which sets a mirror 24.
While the foregoing specification sets forth the invention in specific terms, it is to be understood that numerous changes in the shape, size and materials may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as 10 claimed hereinafter.
Having described the claimed as new is:
1. A holder of. the character described comprising a supporting plate, a clip structure in- 15 eluding a pair of jaws, one jaw of the clip structure being stationarily secured to the plate, the other jaw being rockably mounted on the stationary jaw and being provided with a finger operative extension, a spring means for contract- 20 ing the jaws, and an article supporting strip horizontally .disposed and supported by the upper portion of the stationary jaw.
2. A holder of the character described comprising a supporting plate, a plurality of clips supported by the plate, each clip consisting of a stationary jaw and a movable jaw, and an ar ticle supporting strip bridging the upper portions of the stationary jaws and being supported therey.
3. A holder of the character described comprising a supporting plate, a plurality of clips supported by the plate, each clip consisting of a stationary jaw and a movable jaw, and an article supporting strip bridging the upper por- 35 tions of the stationary jaws and being supported thereby, said stationary jaws being slotted at their upper portions to receive portions of the said strip to support the latter.
4. A holder of the character described com- 40 prising a supporting plate, a plurality of clips supported by the plate, each clip consisting of a stationary jaw and a movable jaw, an article supporting strip bridging the upper portions of the stationary jaws and being supported thereby, 45 and outstanding protuberances on the supporting wall recessed to receive the ends of the said strip.
