Eleventh. to provide a' holder of this class which is very simple and economical of construction, efficient in its action and which will not readily deteriorate or get out of order.
With `these and other objects in view as will appear hereinafter, my invention consists of certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts and portions as o will be hereinafter described in detail and be particularly set forth in the appended claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the characters of reference thereon `which form a part of this application in which:
(Cl. IWI-111) Similar characters of reference refer to similar parts and portions throughout the several views of the drawing: v
The check roll casing I, napkin casing 2, supports 3, lid 4, punch levers 5 and Ii, punch members 'l and 6, punch member springs 9 and I0, punch die plate Ii, and glass, salt and pepper holders I2 constitute the principal parts and portions of my check roll holder.
The check `roll casing I is a box like casing preferably made or sheet metal of a size adapted to receive a roll of checks substantially four inches in diameter and two to two and one-half inches wide. It isprovided with a bottom mem ber la which extends and forms the bottom for a napkin casing t. It is extended at one side and extends downwardly at Ib for some distance and is provided with an offset integral portion Ic, thus providing a receiver for menu cards, or the like.
Secured across the opposite ends of the bottom member l a and extending downwardly and then backwardly are the supports 5, the backwardly extending portions 3a being threaded and in which is mounted a bolt 3b, the end of said bolt beingadapted to be screwed up against the lower side of the table or counter as shown best in Figs.`
1 and 3 of the drawing, `thus providing means for supporting the casing. The casing 2 is also box shape and is preferably composed of metal and is of the size to receive folded napkins, it being noted that it is provided with an opening 2a at its 'front upper side shown best in Fig. 1 of the drawing, through which one of the napkins is adapted to be drawn for use. This casing 2 is provided with a napkin supporting plate 2b which rests against the back side of the inner wall of the casing and is yprovided with two spaced springs 2c which are adapted to rest against the napkins and hold them up in position against the front wall, so that they may be easily extracted through the opening` 2a. It will be noted,"
that the side wall oi the napkin casing and the check roll casing are separated by `a common partition 2d shown best in Fig. l of the drawing. Positioned below the bottom member` la and extending from the front sidethereof is a plate which forms a holder fora glass, salt and pepper shaker or the like and rests upon the table and is secured by clamping of the holder in position against the upper face oi the table or counter. This partition 2d is spaced at its upper side some distance from the upper side of the casings I and 2, as shown best in Fig. 4 of the drawing. Pivotally mounted at the one end of the casing member I and extending over the top open sides of both the casings I and i. is the lid i which is provided with a downwardly extending flange portion la on both sides and on the free endoverlapping the upper edge of the casiu rs `I and 2 as shown. It will be noted that the lid is hinged in slightly spaced relation from the side wall of the casing I so that the paper checks extend outwardly through an opening Id' and then extends under a strip db of the lid 4, there being provided slots on each side of this strip 4b to permit the paper to pass down under this strip 4h. This lid member d is also provided with an opening 4c in which is mounted a plate II which is provided with downwardly extending ends I I a at its opposite ends. Secured to this member 4 is an L member 4d which supports a plate 4e and secured to this plate de is a member 4f which is L shaped, the upper horizontal portion of which eX- tends substantially parallel with the member 4 and in spaced relation with the horizontal portion`of .the member Il. The lower end of this member 4e is provided with a roller portion lig which forms a journal or bearing for the inner ends of the lever members and i shown best in Fig. 4 of the drawing. Shiftably supported in the member If and in lugs Ih from the member 4f are thepunch members i and 8 which are held downwardly by means of springs 9 and Hl. These bers 'I or 3 are moved upwardly to punch holes in Patent is:
the checks. The member II is provided with holes adapted `to receive the ends of the punch members i' and 8 with the check interposed between the members if and II when the levers I or are operated and the checks are punched, 35
it being noted that these punches are in alignment with the price check on the sections of the check roll which is provided withl perforated lines separating the several checks.
The operation of my check roll holder is subvstantially as follows: rlhe check roll R as shown in Fig. l4 of the drawing is placed in the check holder I and rthe end of the continuous check roll is threaded out through the opening id, then under vthe strip ib and the end between the members 4f. and II so that the holes for the punch member in the member II are in alignment with the` checks for punching the squares in alignmentvwith the price on opposite sides of the check as shown best in Fig. 2 of the drawing. The check is drawn under the members II and 4h to the proper position and either one of the levers 5 or 6 are punched in accordance with the charge of the check. The checks simply roll off of the roll and the roll rolls around in the casing I as the checks are gradually rolled off. The spring member 9 tends to depress the punch member vas soon as the holev is punched through the check.
