1 Claim.

This invention relates to a ceiling hanger especially adapted for supporting from a ceiling, steam, water and air units which are employed for heating, cooling, ventilating and humidifying, and has for the primary object the provision of a device of this character which'is capable of safely supporting a maximum load and'may be readily. adjusted to permit the unit carried thereby to' .be positioned as desired.

' With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described and claim- For a complete understanding of our invention, reference will be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, in which:

Figure 1 is a top plan view illustrating a ceiling hanger constructed in accordance with our invention.

Figure 2 is a side elevation illustrating the same.

Figure 3 is a detail sectional view taken on line 33 of Figure 1.

Figure 4 is a fragmentary perspective view of a supporting bar.

Figure 5 is a side elevation illustrating a hanger hook.

Referring in detail to the drawings, the numeral 5 indicates an annular member having relatively spaced slots or openings 6 to receive lag screws or similar devices (not shown) for securing the annular member 5 onto a ceiling. Also formed in the. member 5 are slots 1 arranged in opposed pairs, either pair of slots may be employed for receiving bolts 8 for adjustably securing on the annular member 5 a supporting bar 9,.

the ends of which project beyond the outer periphery of the annular member 5. The bolts 8 extend through openings in the bar 9 and have threaded thereon nuts Ill, providing means whereby the bar 9 may be secured in any of its ad- (or. 248-343) v at ll, so that the bolts will slide freely in the slots when loosened.

The bar 9 is provided with elongated slots I2 some of which are arranged in the bar!) outwardly of'the outer periphery of the annular member while the other slots are arranged inwardly of the inner periphery of the annular member 5,. The slots I2 receive supporting rods 1 l3 and are clamped onsaid bar 9 by upper and lower nuts M engageable with upper and lower faces of the bar. The nuts permit the supporting rods I? to be adjusted endwise of the slots and to be removed from one slot and placed into another slot when desired. The lower ends of the rods :3 may have threaded thereon spaced nuts if: or the lower ends of therods maybe bent to form hooks it, as shown in Figure 5 to permit connecting of said rods to the unit to be supported.

A device of the character described in detail and shown in the drawings will permit a unit to be safely supported toa ceiling and will permit the unit to be adjusted into various positions necessaryto meet with installation of said unit.

It is believed that the foregoing description when taken in connection with the drawings will fully set forth the construction and advantages of this invention to those skilled in the art to which such a device relates, so that further detailed description will not be required.

What is claimed is:

A hanger for attachment to a ceiling comprising'a fiat annular member provided therein with equidistantly spaced short slots for the passage of attaching bolts therethrough and having elongated arcuateslots therein intermediate the short slots and arranged in diametrically opposite pairs, an elongated bar provided with bolts for cooperation with said pairs of elongated slots selectively to adjust said bar about the axis of said member into different angular positions, said bar extendingat both ends beyond the outer edge of said member and being provided with longitudinally extending spaced slots within and outside said member, and hanger rods attachable to said bar for adjustment along selected slots to vary the position thereof.
