The object of my invention is to provide a novel paste tube dispenser for conveniently and efiectively expelling paste from the tube; and to provide a novel cap or applicator attached to the nozzle of the paste tube to cause a straight flow. of the paste without curling, and to stop the flow of paste when operation of the device ceases. It is also an object of my invention to provide the novel combination and arrangement of parts in a device of this type, as shown and described.
I attain these and other objects of my invention by the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure l is a side elevation of the bracket arms and base support, with the shield 22 in reversed position;
Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the same;

Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the winding roller into which the end U of the paste tube '1 is being inserted;

Like characters of reference designate like parts in each of the several views.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, W indicates the supporting wall to which the bracket base i is fastened by screws T designates a tube of paste, and U its flattened end. B designates a tooth brush; and E designates the expeller device as a unit. A indicates the cap or applicator as a unit.
I provide a bracket base 1 having apertures for screws 2 by which it is fastened to the wall W. Mounted on base i, (or a part of same, as shown in Fig. 2a are bracket arms 8. Bracket arms 8 are curved outwardly at l, as shown in Figs. 1 and 3, and terminate in enlarged ends 9 which are provided with vertical slots iii to receive a slotted winding roller H, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2. One or more suitable hooks 5 may be formed on or afiixed to the bracket base i for holding tooth or other brushes B.
I provide diagonally dispose-d elongated slots I i to receive the pressure roller i2 retained on bracket arms 8 by suitable heads 13, the function of the diagonally disposed slots being to increase pressure exerted by rollers l5 and i2 on the paste tube. I also provide a loosely mounted, revoluble holiow squeezing roller 15, extending from the 5 inside surface of one bracket arm 8 to the inside surface of the other bracket arm 8. Roller i5 is mounted on stationary shaft M which has an end knob Ma at one end and is screwed into a suitable tapped and threaded aperture in the 10 opposite bracket arm 8. This construction facilitates removal of the paste tube from the device.
Winding roller ll has aslot iii, to receive the flattened end U of the tube T of paste or other material to be expelled from the tube. The end of the winding roller I? is secured to a head i9 and is seated in the slots H] of arms 8. Roller 11 also has a finger key at its other end for operating the roller.
Bracket arms 8, as shown in Figs. 1 and 5, are 20 braced by a. spacingbolt 2 l. Swingably mounted on the spacing bolt 21 is a cover or shield 22 extending the full width of the entire dispenser,
and having an upstanding fin or piece 23 by which the shield may be conveniently raised when not 25 in use. When closed the shield seats on the. top surfaces of bracket arms 8.
Referring to .Fig. '7, I provide a knurled or hexagonal channelled thumb piece 25 which is screw-threaded at 26 for screw-threaded engage- 30 ment on the conventional threaded nozzle 24 of a paste tube T, member 25 terminating in a depending tube 21. Depending t be 2'5 preferably has its lower end threaded at 23 for engagement by a base washer 29 screw-threaded on said threaded lower end. 'To the washer 29, the depending support 313 is fastened by solder or rivets Si or by othersuitable means. Support 3B, in turn carries a check valve-33, which may be spherical or of other suitable shape, secured to it by solder 32 or otherwise suitably affixed, and spaced from the lower end of depending tube, as shown in Fig. 7. Valve 33 removably seats on the valve seat 34 to open andclose the passageway. The nozzle extension 35 provides a longer passageway for the paste (which prevents curling of the paste). The body 36 is detachably affixed to a top 38 which loosely engages tube 21 to permit of vertical sliding movement relative thereto, and the top 38 has a threaded depending flange 31 screw-threaded to theupper end of the body 3b, as shown in Fig. '7. Positioned above washer Z9 is suitable packing 49, above which is a protecting follower or Washer 41 on which a coil spring 42 seats. This coil spring extends from member 4| to the pressure top 38 of the applicator, and presses against both of those members.
To operate the device, the conventional cap is removed from the paste tube and my dispenser cap or applicator A is screw-threaded on the nozzle of the paste tube in its place, the base end U of the paste tube T is unwound and is inserted into the slot [8 in winding roller l1 and a halfturn is made. The front roller I is removed from the ends 9 of arms 8 of the dispenser; member l4 being detachable to admit of the withdrawal of this roller. The tube of paste is then placed in position and the front roller I5 is replaced in its proper position in the arms to engage the end of the paste tube. By winding the finger key 20 and the winding roller I! which it operates the roller l2 approaches roller l5 until only the thickness of the front and back walls of the paste tube separate them. As the paste tube is drawn through rollers l5 and I2 the paste is forced downward to the cap end of the tube and into the cap or applicator A. The pressure of the paste forced into the lower end of the body 36 forces that member downward away from the valve 33 and against the pressure of spring 42 to create a passage between ball valve 33 and its seat 34. The paste emerges until pressure is re leased by stopping the operation of the finger key and its roller whereupon the coil spring 42 bearing against top 38, which is afiixed to the upper end of the body 36, will force body 36 upward until the ball valve 33 against rests on its valve seat 34, thereby stopping the flow of the paste.
When it is desired to replace a paste tube from which the paste has been ejected with a new full paste tube, the shield 22 is lifted, as shown in doted lines in Fig. 5, to permit access to the old paste tube and the roller i2 is slid downwardly in the elongated slots II to permit of readily withdrawing the fiattened end of the tube as it is unwound from the roller I! for replacement by a new full tube of paste.
What I claim is:
1. In a device of the type described, the combination of a base adapted to be affixed to a wall, spaced bracket arms mounted on the base, the bracket arms having opposite vertical slots and opposite diagonally disposed slots, a slotted roller removably mounted in the vertical slots and having an operating element at one end, said roller being adapted to engage the unfolded end of the paste tube, a pair of slightly spaced rollers positioned below the aforesaid slotted rcller to engage and squeeze the tube, one of said rollers being mounted in diagonally disposed slots in the bracket arms whereby to increase pressure exerted by the rollers on the paste tube and to be readily disengaged from the paste tube to permit of withdrawing same from the device when empty, and a swingably mounted shield normally covering and concealing the aforesaid rollers.
2. In a device of the type described, the combination of a base adapted to be afiixed to a wall, diverging bracket arms extending from said base, the bracket arms having opposite vertical slots and opposite diagonally disposed slots, a slotted roller removably mounted in the vertical slots and having an operating element at one end, said roller being adapted to engage the unfolded end of the paste tube, a pair of slightly spaced rollers pos1tioned below the aforesaid slotted roller to engage and squeeze the tube, one of said rollers being mounted in diagonally disposed slots in the bracket arms whereby to increase pressure exerted by the rollers on the paste tube and to be readily disengaged from the paste tube to permit of withdrawing same from the device when empty, the other roller being hollow and revolubly supported, and a swingably mounted shield normally covering the device.
3. In a device of the type described, the combination of a base adapted to be affixed to a wall, diverging bracket arms affixed to the base, the bracket arms having opposite vertical slots and opposite diagonally disposed slots, a slotted roller removably mounted in the vertical slots and having an operating element at one end, said roller being adapted to engage the unfolded end of the paste tube, a pair of slightly spaced rollers positioned below the aforesaid slotted roller to engage and squeeze the tube, one of said rollers being mounted in diagonally disposed slots in the bracket arms whereby to be readily disengaged from the paste tube to permit of with drawing same from the device when empty, and a swingably mounted shield normally covering the aforesaid rollers.
4. In a device of the type described, the combination of a base adapted to be aflixed to a wall, diverging bracket arms extending from said base, the bracket arms having opposite vertical slots and opposite diagonally disposed slots, a slotted roller removably mounted in the vertical slots and having an operating element at one end, said roller being adapted to engage the unfolded end of the paste tube, a pair of slightly spaced rollers positioned below the aforesaid slotted roller to engage and squeeze the tube, one of said rollers being mounted in the diagonally disposed slots in the bracket arms, the other roller being hollow and revolubly supported, a stationary shaft on which said roller is mounted, said shaft being threaded at one end and having said end engaging the bracket, and a knob on the other end of said shaft to permit of its removal to facilitate removal of the paste tube from the device.
