1 Claim.
This invention relates to door controlled ignition systems and has for an-object to provide automatic means for opening the ignition circuit in response to opening of the door of a vehicle.
A further object is to provide a system of this character which will economize in material needed for equipping the vehicle in that only wiring, five push buttons and a single pole double throw switch are necessary.
A further object is to provide a system of this type which ismore eiiicient than like systems heretofore purposed in that the wire instead of being connected to the ammeter first, is trained through to each of the doors and then is brought to the ammeter.
A further object is to provide a system of this character which will be formed of a few strong, simple and durable parts which will be inexpensive to manufacture, easy to install, and which will not easily get out of order.
With the above and other objects in view the invention consists of certain novel details of construction and combinations of parts hereinafter fully described and claimed, it being understood that various modifications may be resorted to within the scope of the appended claim without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.
' In the accompanying drawing forming part of this specification the figure is a diagrammatic view showing the wiring, door controlled push buttons, clutch pedal push button and double throw switch, of an ignition system constructed in accordance with the invention.

not shown, and I4 the source of electricity of an ignition system, such as a battery, these parts being conventional.
In carrying out the invention a wire I5 isconnected to the battery and to a double throw switch I6. One contact .of the switch is connected to a wire I! which is conducted to one of the doors I8 and connected to' a push button switch I9 carried by the door casing and controlled by the door to be opened when the door is opened. The remaining doors 20, 2I and 22 are likewise equipped with respective door con trolled push button switches 23, 24 and 25 which are connected in series to the push button switch I9 by respective wires 26, 21 and 28.
A wire 29 is connected to the final push button switch 25 and is connected to a wire 30 which is connected to the other contact of the double throw switch and which is connected to the ammeter. Thus it will be observed that the wiring 1939, Serial No. 281,257
is conducted from the battery through the double throw switch then to all of the push button switches and then connected to the ammeter. This reduces the cost of installation and simplifies the system.
A push button switch 3| is located in the path of movement of the clutch pedal 32 and is connected to the wire 30 by a wire 33, and is also connected to the wire I5 leading to the battery permit the motor to keep on running. By throw-- ing the double throw switch to the dotted line position shown in the figure the source of electricity is connected direct to the ammeter so that the running of the motor will not be afiected by the door controlled push button switches.
From the above description it is thought that the construction andoperation of the invention will be fully understood without further explanation. I
What is claimed is: 1 An ignition system for motor vehicles having doors, comprising an ammeter, an ignition switch, a wire connecting the switch with oneside of the ammeter, a source of electricity, a double throw switch, a wire connected to the source of elec- -tricity and to the double throw switch, a wire connected to one contact of the double throw switch and conducted to one of the doors of the vehicle, a push button switch connected to the last named wire and disposed at said door in position to be opened when the door is opened, respective door controlled push button switches for the other doors of the vehicle, respective wires connecting all of the door controlled switches in series with each other, a wire connected to the last one of the push button switches and connected to the other contact of the double throw switch and to the other side of the ammeter, and a clutch pedal controlled push button switch connected to the last named side of the ammeter and to the second named conductor wire, the arrangement being such that the ignition circuit is opened by the push button of a respective door when that door is opened, closing 'of the clutch pedal controlled push button switch connecting the source of electricity direct to the ammeter to permit'the motor to keep on running when one of the doors is opened.
