This application is a division of my application for United States Letters Patent on Means for use in displaying or demonstrating artificial dentures, filed January 22, 1937, Serial No. 21,897.

The invention relates to a display or demonstrating device in which a set of teeth may be displayed in correct relationship to a facial mask to definitely illustrate the appearance where the teeth so used have been made into a denture or dentures, and are in actual use by the patient.

The object of the present invention is to provide a plurality of facial masks having different expressions, any one of which may be brought into position before the viewer, and a plurality of teeth sets so arranged that any set may be dis.- played in correct position with any of the aforesaid facial masks.

A further object of the invention is to so arrange such a device that the whole will comprise a unit adjustable to give desired effects without the removal or addition of any of the parts.

A still further object of the invention is to provide the tooth set carrying means with provision for incorporating therewith sets of teeth having any desired relationship, color, shape, etc.

A still further object of the invention is to so mount said device that it may be manually operated by the hand of the dentist or other person making the demonstration.

According to the invention, the denture demonstrating device comprises a base having a pedestal, a frame rotatably mounted at the upper end of said pedestal, and provided with a plurality of masks having different facial expressions, offset rotary means having mounted thereon a plurality of teeth sets,- any one of which may be aligned with the desired facial mas positioned at the front of the device.

The drawing illustrates an embodiment of the invention, and the views therein are as follows:

Figure 3 is a side elevation of the drum employed for carrying the teeth sets, and shows one of the mountings incorporated therewith, and the other mountings broken away.

As illustrated in the drawing, the device comprises a base 6 having a pedestal 1 comprising a standard 8 with a lower flange 9 and a sleeve H at its upper end. The pedestal is secured to the base by the rivets l2 or other means.

Each of the supports 2! is also provided with two outwardly flaring ribs 2d whose outer ends are fastened at 26 to the forehead of the adjacent mask 51, that is to say, the masks are mounted on the frame it, so that the chin of each mask is adjacent the forehead of the succeeding mask, and the ribs extending out from the support 2! connect the chin of one mask and the forehead of the succeeding mask.

The hub- IB is rotatable on the spindle l3 and a collar 27 prevents lateral movement of said hub thereon. The extended end of the spindle 13 has an arm 28 secured thereto and extends toward the front of the device A. Its extended end is provided with a second spindle 2! which is non-rotatable, and is provided with a drum 3| free to rotate on said second spindle. A washer 32 encompasses said spindle between the arm 28 and drum 3! While the drum is provided with an operating member or knurled knob 35, which is provided with a recess 33 to receive the head 34 of the second spindle 29, which has a'screw driver slot 36, as shown in Figure 1. The drum is provided with apertures 31 extending in from its periphery 38 to receive the shank 39 of mountings M for teeth sets.

The teeth to be displayed may, therefore, be arranged and mounted on the devices M, and after arranged to the satisfaction of the dentist or other person desiring to display same. The shank 39 thereof may be pressed into one of the recesses 31 on the drum, so that the same may be displayed in combination with any of the masks ii shown in Figure 1.

The frame it being free to rotate on the spin-- die l3, any desired mask may be brought into viewing position at the front A of the device, and by grasping the operating knob 35, any set of teeth, indicated in Figure l, as T, may be demonstrated with the particular facedesired, that is to say, the masks may be rotated until the mask having the desired facial expression, is arranged at the front A of the device, and the teeth drum then rotated until the desired set may be viewed through the open mouth of the front mask.

Of course, the tooth set demonstrating device shown and described herein may be modified and changed in various ways without departing from the invention herein set forth and hereafter claimed.

The invention is hereby claimed as follows:

1. A denture demonstrating device comprising a pedestal, a frame pivotally mounted on said pedestal for movement about a horizontal axis, facial masks mounted on said frame, and tooth sets rotatably mounted for movement about a second horizontal axis for association with said masks, said masks having the lips thereof separated to display the teeth of said sets.

2. A denture demonstrating device comprising a pedestal, a frame pivotally mounted on said pedestal for movement about a horizontal axis, facial masks mounted on said frame, and a plurality of tooth sets rotatably mounted for movement about a second horizontal axis to effect interchangeable association with said masks, said masks having the lips thereof separated to display the teeth of said sets.

3. A denture demonstrating device comprising a pedestal having a sleeve at its upper end, a spindle in said sleeve, a hub rotatably mounted on said spindle, a. frame secured to said hub, facial masks mounted on said frame, and a drum having a plurality of tooth sets mounted thereon for interchangeable association with said masks.

4. A denture demonstrating device comprising a pedestal having a sleeve at its upper end, a spindle in said sleeve, a hub rotatably mounted on said spindle, a frame secured to said hub, facial masks mounted on said frame, and a rotatable drum having a plurality of tooth sets mounted thereon for interchangeable association with said masks.

5. A denture demonstrating device comprising a pedestal having a sleeve at its upper end, a spindle in said sleeve, a hub rotatably mounted on said spindle, a frame secured to said hub,

facial maks mounted on said frame, an arm secured to said spindle, a second spindle secured to said arm, and a drum rotatable on said last spindle and provided with tooth sets for interchangeable association with said masks.

6. A denture demonstrating device comprising a pedestal having a sleeve at its upper end, a spindle in said sleeve, a hub rotatably mounted on said spindle, a frame secured to said hub, facial masks mounted on said frame, an arm having one end secured to said spindle and extending horizontally, a second spindle on the other end of said arm, a drum on said last spindle, and sets of teeth on said drum, said drum being rotatable and arranged to display said tooth sets with any mask having its lip-line placed on a line through the centers of said spindles.

'7. A denture demonstrating device comprising a pedestal having a sleeve at its upper end, a spindle in said sleeve, a hub rotatably mounted on said spindle, a frame secured to said hub, facial masks mounted on said frame, an arm secured to said spindle, a second spindle secured to said arm, a drum rotatable on said last spindle and provided with tooth sets for interchangeable association with said masks, and means on said drum for manually rotating same.

8. A denture demonstrating device comprising a pedestal having a sleeve at its upper end, a spindle in said sleeve, a hub rotatably mounted on said spindle, a frame secured to said hub, fa-

cial masks mounted on said frame, an arm having one end secured to said spindle and extending horizontally, a second spindle on the other end of said arm, a drum on said last spindle, sets of teeth on said drum, said drum being rotatable and arranged to display said tooth sets with any mask having its lip-line placed on a line through the centers of said spindles, and 40 means on said drum for manually rotating same.
