IMPROVEMENT IN TRUSSES FOR WlNDOW-CORNICES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 216,376, dated June 10, 1879; application filed May 12, 1879.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, J AMES W. CAMPBELL, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Truss for Window-Gornices, of which the following is a specification.
Figure 1 is a front elevation of the device.
Fig. 2 is a cross-section on line as m, Fig. 1.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
In the manufacture of adjustable windowcornices under my Patent No. 214,882, issued April 29, 187 9, considerable difiiculty is sometimes experienced in fitting the sliding front pieces through the socketed trusses. If the front pieces be by chance a little too thick or the sockets in the trusses too narrow, further time and labor must needs be expended upon them, and it has been found that when fitted properly and set aside in a damp place the parts swell, so that they become entirely unadj nstable, or only partially adjustable.
The object of this invention is to obviate this difficulty; and. the invention consists in making a vertical cut from the top through to the socket A of the truss B, so that the truss can be sprung apart to accommodate itselfto the front pieces, 0 O.
A thumb-screw, D, holds the parts of the truss together again as closely as desirable upon the front pieces.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by LettersPatent- The socketed cornicet-russ B, provided with a vertical cut from top to socket, and thumb screw D, substantially as herein shown and described.
