Description

Oct. 18, 1938. o. LAMBERT SPINNING AND LIKE TEXTILE FRAME Filed Sept. 18, 1937 Patented Oct. 18, 1938 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE Application September 18, 1937, Serial No. 164,558
In Great Britain November 25, 1936 1 Claim.
This invention relates to the mounting of drawing presser rollers in spinning or twisting frames in which the drawing presser rollers are mounted individually to the spindles; i. e., each drawing 5 presser roller is mounted on an independent arbor.
In the specification of my co-pending application Ser. No. 164,557 led Sept. 18 1937, there is described a construction of spinning frame incorporating bracket members individual to the spindles and each arranged to carry, inter alia, a drawing presser roller and pressure-adjusting mechanism individual to a spindle.
In the construction according to the invention the arbor of the drawing presser roller binds the slidable block between two flanges which are in slidable engagement with the bend or bracket. The arbor is overhung; and the ange nearer the presser roller is of larger area, e. g., deeper, than the other ange, so as to afford additional support to the overhung arbor. The presser roller is tted with a ball bearing disposed in the central plane of the pressure and is integral with a unilateral boss.
In the accompanying drawing Fig. 1 is an end elevation of a bracket member with drawing presser roller; Fig. 2 is a fragmentary section on the line II-II of Fig. 1. y
Referring to the drawing, each drawing presser roller |51 is mounted on an arbor 40 carried by a slide-block 4| movable in a. slide-way in the bracket I2. Flanges 42, 43 attached to the slideblock 4| slidingly engage opposite side faces of the bracket I2. The arbor is overhung and the flange 42 is deeper than the ange 43 so as to afford extra support to the overhung end of the 5 arbor 40. 'Ihe roller |51 is journalled on a ball bearing 44 disposed in the central plane of the pressure and is integral with a unilateral boss 511 which affords extra support to the roller. T'he roller |51 is urged towards the co-operative driven 10 drawing roller I52 by a coil spring 46 surrounding a rod 41 which is rotatable to adjust the stress of the spring 46.
I claim:-
Drawing mechanism for spinning and like 15 textile frames, comprising, in combination with a driving drawing roller, a drawing presser roller having an overhung arbor, said presser roller being integral with a unilateral supporting boss, an antifriction bearing for said presser roller 20 disposed in the central plane of the pressure applied by said presser roller, a fixed bracket member presenting a slideway, a block slidable in said slideway, said arbor being mounted in said block, two anges attached to said block and slidably 25 engaging opposite faces of said bracket member, and adjustable pressure mechanism carried by said bracket member and acting on said block.
