4 Claims.
This invention relates to marionette figures and more particularly to head construction of same, the object being to provide such a head, adapted to receive various types of masks, the construction being such that the said masks can be readily applied and detached, and whereby the marionette figure may be supplied with various head masks, having different expressions and simulating various characters.
The disclosure made the basis of exemplifying the present inventive concept suggests a practical embodiment thereof, but the invention is not tobe restricted to the exact details of this disclosure, and the latter, therefore, is to be understood from an illustrative, rather than a restrictive standpoint.
The inventive idea involved is capable of receiving a variety of mechanical expressions, one of which, for the purpose of illustration, is shown in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a sectional plan view of a marionette head made in accordance with our invention; and Fig. 2 is a sectional View thereof taken on line II9,Figure 1.
In the drawing, we have shown a form of head construction adapted for use in marionette figures. The said construction comprises a base or core 69 provided with a pair of depressions 6| adapted to receive the rounded or beaded edges 62 of a front or face mask section 63 and the beaded edges 64 of a rear mask section 65. With this construction of the head it is possible to detachably and interchangeably apply different masks with varying faces and expressions, or combination of expressions, when two or more marionettes are used to illustrate or depict various characters.
The foregoing construction of marionette head has been found very desirable, as the same marionette figure can be used over and over again to depict various types of characters, the only feature necessary to be changed being the head mask, and our improved construction permits of easy attachment of the mask to and detachment from the marionette head.
Having described our invention, what we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1s:
1. Ina marionette figure, a head, the said head comprising a core having a pair of recesses, one at each side thereof, a front mask section, a rear mask section, and meansv on the said sections for frictionally engaging the said-recesses for removably maintaining the said sections on the core.
2. In a marionette figure, a head, the said head comprising a core having a pair of recesses, one at each side thereof, a front mask section, a rear mask section, and beaded portions on'the said sections for frictionally engaging the said recesses for removably maintaining the said sections on the core.
3. In a marionette figure, a head, the said head comprising a core, a pair of head masks, means on the core, and means on the mask sections cooperating With the means on the core for readily removably maintaining the mask sections upon the said core.
4. In a marionette. figure, a head, the said head comprising a core, a pair of mask sections, and means on the said mask sections in engagement with the core for removably maintaining the masksections upon the core.
