Though in this modification all' the heads controlled by the gear box 49 must complete their winding at the same time, winding at each head takes place independently oi the others, since timing of the frictional drive of the particular slotted disc 52 is controlled only by the operation of the starting lever rod 43 of the corresponding winding head.
What we claim and desire'to secure by Letters Patent is:- V
1. In a pirn winding or like'machine comprising a winding spindle provided with stop mechanism and a yarn traversing mechanism, a yarn measf uringdevice including a member adapted to be driven at a predetermined rate relative to the winding spindle, and -means controlled by said member to be engaged by the traversing mechanism after a predetermined number of revolutions o! the winding spindle, to operate the stopl mechanism for the winding spindle.

In a pim winding or like machine comprising a winding spindle provided with stop mecha- `nism and a. yarn traversing mechanism, a yarn measuring device including a notched disc in geared driving connection with the winding spindle. a lever adapted to be supported by the edge of said notched disc, and means controlled by lsaid lever to be engaged by the traversing-mechanism alter a predetermined number of revolutions o! the winding spindle to operate the stop mechanism for the winding spin'dle.
3. In a pirn winding or likemachine comprising a winding spindle provided with stop mechanism and ayarn traversing mechanism, a yarn measuring device including a notched disc in geared driving connection with the winding spindie, said geared driving connection containing` exchangeable gears, a lever adapted'to be supported by the edge of `said notched disc, and
