UNITEE STATES PATENT -OEEIGE OSCAR KLEINBERGER, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
IMPROVEMENT IN SUSPENDERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Iatent No. 211,747, dated January 2S, 1879 application filed November 26, 1878.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Oscars KLEINBERGER, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Suspenders; and I hereby declare that the following is a clear and exact description of my invention, reference being had to the ae companying drawing, forming a part of this specification. Y
The object of my invention is to provide a cheaper and more read ily-adj usted pair of suspenders for gentlemens use than those heretofore known or used; and to this end my invention consists in constructing` the shoulderstraps of the Suspenders (which may be elastic) of just sufficient material to lie on the shoulders, and large enough to give comfort to the wearer. To the back end of these shoulder-straps are fastened two narrow straps, which form .the back-straps of the suspenders, and these are joined together by a slide-buckle.
To the front end of the shoulderstraps are fastened two narrow straps, the lower ends of which are passed through rings, and then fastened to slidebnckles placed on the said straps. Vhen these buckles are slid up and r down on the straps the same are shortened and lcngthened, as may be required for the wearers comfort.
To the rings are fastened straps provided with button-holes in the ends, for attaching the Suspenders to the pantaloons.
By this arrangement the Suspenders can be manufactured very cheap, and are very light and comfortable to wear.
By aid of the two slide-buckles and the rings in front, the Suspenders are readily lengthened and shortened, and by aid of the slide-buckle on the back-straps the point of crossing and joining may be shifted most readily to the wearers convenience.
In Aorder to more fully describe my invens tion, I refer to the accompanying` drawing, which represents a front view of a pair of Suspenders embodying my invention.
A A are the shoulder-straps, to the ends a a of which are fastened the narrow straps al a2, provided with button-holes a3 aj. These straps form the back-straps ofthe suspenders, and are crossed and joined together by a slidebuckle, B. The object of so joining the suspenders is to allow the point of joining, b, to be shifted most convenient to the wearer.
To the ends c c of the shoulder-straps A A are fastened the straps D D, with buckles d d at their ends, and passing through the rings G G. To the rings are attached the straps II H and I I, by aid of which the front of the Suspenders is fastened to the pantaloons.
Having thus described my invention, I desire to claim- A In combination, the shoulder-straps A A, with back-straps al a2, having sliding buckle B, for the purpose set forth,'the straps D D, havin gslidin g buckles d d, and passing through rings G, to which the front straps,'H and I, are attached, substantially as and for the purpose set forth. l y m,
This specification signed this 8th day of November, 1878.
' OSCAR KLEINBERGER. WVitnesses:
