Among the objects of my invention is to apply an outer member for trimming and binding the edges, corners or surfaces of members such as desks, tables, counters, sinks, corners of rooms, automobiles or the like, and in some instances to cover up an open joint. To create a binding for holding one material in position with relation to another such as holding linoleum to wood. To provide a finished trimming or moulding in which the fastening members are permanently attached to the inside of the trimming and do not protrude through to the outside faces thereof so that when the trimming is applied to a member the outside of the trimming shows no lines broken by fastening members. To supply a complete trimming ready for application and use, and such other objects, advantages and capabilities as will later more fully appear and which are inherently possessed by my invention.

While I have shown in the accompanying drawing a preferred embodiment of my invention, yet I wish it understood that the same is susceptible of modification and change without departing from the spirit of my invention.

Referring to the drawing, Fig. 1 is an inside and Fig. 2 is an outside elevational view of one form of my trimming; Fig. 3 is an inside elevational view of another'form of cleat attachment; Figs. 4 and 5 are detail views of other forms of my cleat; Fig. 6 is a detail view of a fiat form of my trimming, and Figs. 7 and 8 are curved forms of my trimming.

The embodiment selected to illustrate my invention comprises a body member Ill preferably of metal, although any other suitable material such as wood, composition or the like may be used. The body member II] has a finished outer surface pleasing to the eye and may be flat or shaped by any desired angle or curve, or combination of the same. Attached to the inside surface of the body member ID by welding, soldering or brazing is a fiat inwardly extending member or cleat ll.

Whenever the body member ID is of sufficient length or size I may have a plurality of spaced cleats ll. My cleats II are preferably of metal although other suitable material may be used. My cleats l l have a flat face l2 ending in a sharpened edge l3. One form of my cleats has a hooked side portion l4 and another form has corrugations [5 at a right angle to the sharpened edge l3 to prevent withdrawal from an object into which the cleats have been pressed. My cleats may be attached at one or more points to the interior of the body member ID as shown in Fig. 3.

It will be noted that my trimming is ready for installation upon its manufacture. All the user need do is to apply my trimming of the desired size to an object such as the edge of a desk and press the cleats into the edge of the desk. The trimming once in place remains in position and requires no extraneous fastening devices. The trimming discloses even undisturbed surfaces to the eye, unbroken by nail, screw head or holes.

When material other than metal is used for the body member I!!! and thecleats H such as wood,composition or the like, the cleats are attached to the inner surfaces of the body member It by glue or cement. It is also within the contemplation of my invention that the cleats ll may be molded or cast as integral parts of the body member.

Having thus described my invention, I claim:

1. A trimming comprising a body member having finished outer surfaces, a, plurality of spaced wide cleats permanently attached to the inside surfaces of said body member, said cleats having sharpened edges adapted to be pressed into an object to be trimmed so as to hold the trimming to said object without being visible on the outer surfaces of the body member of said trimming.

2. A trimming comprising a body member hav ing finished outer surfaces, a fastening member attached to the inside surface of said body member, said fastening member extending inwardly and having a wide flat portion with a sharpened edge, said sharpened edge adapted to be pressed into an object to be trimmed so that the fastening member will hold the trimming to said object without the fastening member being visible on the outer surfaces of the body member of said trimming.

A trimming comprising a body member having finished outer surfaces, 2. fastening member attached to the inside surface of said body member, said fastening member extending inwardly and having a wide fiat portion with a sharpened edge, said sharpened edge adapted to be pressed into an object to be trimmed so that the fastening member will hold the trimming to said object without the fastening member being visible on the outer surfaces of the body member of said trimming, the fiat portion of said fastening member having corrugations at a right angle to the sharpened edge so as to prevent separation of the trimming from the trimmed object.

A trimming comprising a body member having' a finished outer surface, a wide inwardly extending member having a flat portion attached orticn forming a continuous sharpened edge, sharpen d edge adapted to be pressed into an object to be trimmed so that the fastening member will hold the trimming to said object without the fastening member being visible on th outer surface of the body member of said nn-ring, said hooked portion adapted to preseparation of the trimming from the med object.

A trimming comprising a body member havfinished outer surfaces, a plurality of spaced wide izn dly extending fastening members, each having a fiat portion attached at its upper end to the inside surfaces of said body member, and curving at its lower end to form a hooked portion, the curved side of said fiat portion and tie inner side of said hooked portion forming a continuous sharpened edge, said sharpened edge -.s,dapted to be pressed into an object to be dilififllflfil so that the fastening members will hold the trimming to said object Without the fastening members being visible on the outer surface of the body member of said trimming, said hooked portion adapted to prevent separation of the trimming from the trimmed object.

6. A trimming comprising a body member havfinished outer surfaces, a fastening member attached to each of the inside surfaces of said body member, said fastening member extending inwardly and having a wide flat portion with a sharpened edge, said sharpened edge adapted to be pressed into an objectto be trimmed so that the fastening member will hold the trimming to said object without the fastening member being visible on the outer surfaces of the body member of said trimming.

A trimming comprising a body member having finished outer surfaces, at fastening member attached to each of the inside surfaces of said body member, said fastening member extending inwardly and having a wide flat portion with a sharpened edge, said sharpened edge adapted to be pressed into an object to be trimmed so that the fastening member will hold the trimming to said object without the fastening member being visible on the outer surfaces of the body member of said trimming, the flat portion of said fastening member having corrugations at a right angle to the sharpened edge so as to prevent separation of the trimming from the trimmed object.

A trimming comprising a body member having finished outer surfaces, a Wide inwardly extending member having a fiat portion attached at its upper end and on one side to the inside surfaces of said body member, and curving at its lower end to form a hooked portion, the inner side of said fiat portion and the inner side of said hooked portion forming a continuous sharpened edge, said sharpened edge adapted to be pressed into an object to be trimmed so that the fastening member will hold the trimming to said object without the fastening member being visible on the outer surface of the body member of said trimming, said hooked portion adapted to prevent separation of the trimming from the trimmed object.
