Claims.
. A This invention relates to window structures and more especially to such structures as apply to windows of 4motor vehicles. A
AAs is well known, by the present type of win- 5 dow construction for motor 'vehicles frosting occurs on the inner` side of thevglass during cold weather, and it is verydifilcult to prevent this formation because of the unavoidable humidity in. the passenger compartment which condenss on the inner side of the glass when the outer side of the'glass is cold.
It is to overcome this that my present invention has been conceived and developed and consists essentially in the formation of the window panes into a unit having an inner pane and an outer paneseparated by an levacuated space so that the transfer of heat or temperature from the inner to the' outer side willnot occur and frosti of the inner pane will be prevented.
- It is therefore Aan object of my invention to provide a simple practical and inexpensive article of the character described.
Another object is to provide a window glass construction adapted to prevent frosting of' win- Y dows in cold weather.
Another object is to provide a window glass having improved heat and cold resisting characteristics.
Other objects and advantages will appear and be brought out more fully in the following specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, wherein:

The celluloid I8 is 5 adapted to maintain the'glass I1 shatter-resisting or shatterproof in case of injury or accidental fracturing of the glass. Simi1ar1y,-the outer pane `I5 comprises a glass sheet I9, the inner surface "of which has similarly secured to yit a celluloid 10 sheetuZli. Theedges of the panes I4 and I5 are separated by a suitable spacing strip 2i, and if `desired the glass may be fused together forming the fused edge 22. f i It may be found desirable in practice to provide 15 panes I4 and I5 each with two layers of glass, 4I1 and I'Ia and I 9 and |9a, and provide the celluloid vwith both its surfaces 'cemented -to the glass.' By
this arrangement greater strength is provided and there is reduced tendency of the celluloid to 20 become waved or wrinkled or spotted due to extreme changes of temperature. The double pane construction of Fig. 7 may be provided with the fused edge of Fig. 2 as illustrated in Figs. 4 and 5, wherein windows V23 are suitably set in 25 Aframes 24.
.From the foregoing description it will be apparent that the evacuated space I6 provided betweenthe panes Il and I5 will permit the outer pane I5 to be kept at a temperature very mate` $0 rially lower than that of the inner pane I4, such that the moisture of the air in the passenger compartment of the motor vehicle will not condense upon the inner pane, whichunder these circumstances will not ordinarily become cold' 35' enough to condense this moisture into frost formation.
While I have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction for carrying my invention into effect, this is capable of variation 40' and modification without departing from .the spirit ofthe invention. I, therefore, do not wish to be limited to the precisedetails of construcon set forth, but desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as come within the l scope of the appended claims.
