My invention relates generally to a holder for personal articles, such as bottles or containers of perfume, cosmetics, shaving preparations, and the like, and particularly to a holder of this character which includes a plurality of compartments which are distributed in relatively swingable sections, permitting the sections to be disposed in different relationships, for the sake of convenience, compactness, and appearance, and an important object of my invention is to provide a simple and attractive arrangement of this character which is relatively inexpensive, and is capable of variation in accordance with the taste and convenience of the user.

Other important objects of my invention will be apparent from a reading of the following description taken in connection with the drawings, wherein for purposes of illustration I have shown a preferred embodiment of my invention.

Figure 1 is a front elevational view of the embodiment.

Figure 2 is a top plan view of Figure 1.

Figure 3 is a top plan view showing the sections folded to lie in side by side relationship instead of in the end to end relationship shown in Figures l and 2.

Figure 4 is a fragmentary end elevational view of Figure 3 looking upwardly.

Figure 5 is a fragmentary sectional view of the lower part of one of the sections.

Figure 6 is an enlarged transverse vertical sectional view taken through one of the sections and disclosing the arrangement of the reinforcing eye or grommet.

Referring in detail to the drawings, the numeral 5 generally designates the embodiment which in this instance is composed of relatively swingable sections 6 and I.

The sections are similar in form and are preferably generally elongated rectangular in shape, and may contain two or more compartments 8 according to choice, to contain the bottles or other containers 9, such as shaving lotion, beauty lotion, or perfume.

Each of the sections is composed of a rectangular bottom H] which has around the edge thereof an upstanding flange H which engages and encloses the lower end of the respective longitudinal walls l2 and I3 and the respective end walls 14 whose lower edges rest on the top of the bottom ID as indicated in Figure 5.

In the two compartment arrangement illustrated herein, a partition wall l5 divides the section into two compartments 8. The front wall I3 is provided at each compartment with a sight opening IE to expose the bottle or other container 9. The said front wall I3 is shorter than the rear wall l2, and both the partition l5 and the end walls l4 have the front part of their upper edges cut off in a declining manner as indicated by the numerals IT, as shown in Figure 6, whereby the upper parts of the bottles or containers 9 are exposed as shown in Figure 1.

The sections are connected by hinges it! which, as shown in Figures 4 and 2 have leaves fastened to an end portion of the corresponding end walls l4, so that the sections may be swung either to the position illustrated in Figure 2 or the position illustrated in Figure 3, depending upon the wishes of the user and the amount of supporting space available. At this point it is desired to call attention to the fact that the arrangement of the invention is because of the characteristics pointed out above, especially suited to become enclosed by a suitable case or casing, so as to form a part of a personal traveling kit.

In the upper part of the back wall l2 of each of the sections, and in positions to register when the sections are brought together into the position shown in Figure 3, are openings l9 which are reinforced with grommets 20 of Celluloid or other suitable material as shown in Figure 6, and the resultant apertures receive hooked ends 2| on a carrying handle 22, so that the device of the invention may be disposed and carried either in the extended position of the sections as shown in Figures 1 and 2 or in the closed condition of the sections as shown in Figures 3 and 4. It will be understood relative to the arrangement shown in Figures 3 and 4 that the hooked portions 2! of the carrying handle 22 will engage through two of the grommets 20 respectively, which are then registered, as indicated in Figure 3.

Although I have shown and described herein a preferred embodiment of my invention, it is to be definitely understood that I do not desire to limit the application of the invention thereto, and any change or changes may be made in the materials, and in the structure and arrangement of the parts, within the spirit of the invention and the scope of the subjoined claims.

What is claimed is:-

1. A display case and container comprising a pair of container sections hinged together for relative swinging movement into back to back relation, said sections each having a back wall provided with a pair of longitudinally spaced apertures therein, the apertures of one wall registering withthose of the other in the back to back relation of said sections, and a handle having hooked ends for insertion into the registering apertures of said pairs.

2. A display case and container comprising a pair of container sections hinged together for relative swinging movement into end to end relation, and also into back to back relation, each section having a back provided with a pair of longitudinally spaced apertures therein the apertures of said pairs being spaced apart equidistantly in the end to end position of said sections and the apertures of one pair registering with those of the other in said back to back relation of said sections, and a handle having hooked ends spaced apart in correspondence with the spacing of said apertures for insertion through an aperture of each section in the end to end relation of the latter and through the registering apertures of said pairs in the back to back relation of said sections.
