Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In a continuous column clip, the combina tion of a plurality of opposed pairs of U-shaped transverse members of wire, each having a pair of arms of unequal length, a cross piece and coils between the arms and cross piece, the coils acting'to space the clip from the flange of a column which the members embrace transversely, and longitudinal members of wire welded to the longer arms of the transverse members at the ends thereof and to the cross pieces of the transverse members whereby the transverse members are secured in fixed spaced relation, the shorter arms of said transverse members being looped around the longitudinal wires fixed to the longer arms of the transverse members to lock the clip upon a column.
2. In a continuous column clip, the combination of a plurality of opposed pairs of U-shaped transverse members of wire, each having a pair of arms of unequal length, a cross piece and coils between the arms and cross piece, the coils acting to space the clip from the flange of a column which the members embrace transversely, and longitudinal members of wire secured to the longer arms of the transverse members and to the cross pieces of the transverse members whereby the transverse members are secured in fixed spaced relation, the shorter arms of said transverse members being looped around the longitudinal wires fixed to the longer arms of the transverse members to lock the clip upon a column.
3. In a continuous column clip, the combination of a plurality of opposed pairs of U-shaped transverse members of wire having coils at the bases of the arms, the coils acting to space the clip from the flange of a column which the members embrace transversely, and longitudinal members of wire secured to one arm of each transverse member and to the cross pieces thereof whereby the transverse members are secured in fixed spaced relation, the free arms of said transverse members being looped around the longitudinal wires fixed to the arms of the associated unit to lock the clip upon a column.
4. A column clip unit comprising a plurality of U-shaped transverse members of wire having arms of unequal length and spacing coils at the bases of the arms, a longitudinal member of wire welded to the longer arm of the transverse members adjacent the ends thereof, and a second longitudinal wire welded to the cross portion of said transverse members whereby the transverse members are secured together in a fixed spaced relation and the unit is adapted for locking association with a corresponding unit in embracing relation to a column by looping the ends of the shorter arm of one unit around the longitudinal member secured to the longer arm of the associated unit.
5. A column clip unit comprising a plurality of U-shaped transverse members having arms of unequal length and spacing offsets at the bases of the arms, a longitudinal member secured to one arm of each transverse member, and a second longitudinal wire secured to the cross portions of said transverse members whereby the transverse members are secured together in a fixed spaced relation and the unit is adapted for locking association in a corresponding unit in embracing relation toa column by looping the ends of the free arms around the longitudinal members secured to the arms of the associated unit.
6.'A column clip unit comprising a plurality of U-shaped transverse members having extending arms and spacing ofisets at the bases of the arms thereof, and a longitudinal member secured to one arm of each transverse member, said member being secured to said arm at a point on the arm adjacent the outermost end thereof.
'7. In a column clip, a plurality of U-shaped unitary wire members having arms of unequal length and spacing coils at the base of said arms, said members being adapted for locking association with corresponding wire members in embracing relation to a column, and longitudinal wires welded to said U-shaped members and spacing them lengthwise of the column, at least one of said wires being welded to the corresponding arms of said members at points closely adjacent the outermost ends of said arms.
8. In a column clip, a plurality of U-shaped unitary wire members having arms and spacing coils at the base of said arms, said members being adapted for locking association with corresponding wire members in embracing relation to a column, and a longitudinal wire secured to said U-shaped members, said wire being secured to the corresponding arms of said members at points closely adjacent the outermost ends of said arms.
9. In a column clip, a plurality of unitary wire members terminating in parallel arms and having spacing coils at the base of said arms, said members being adapted for locking association with corresponding wire members in embracing relation to a column, and a longitudinal wire secured to said members, said wire being secured to the ends of corresponding arms of said members.
10. In a column clip, a plurality of U-shaped unitary wire members terminating in parallel arms of unequal length, said members being adapted for locking association with corresponding opposed wire members in embracing relation to a column, and longitudinal wires secured to the outermost ends of the arms of said U-shaped members and spacing them lengthwise of the column, an arm of each of said members being wrapped around a longitudinal wire on an opposed member to efiect said locking association.
