My invention relates to improvements in rolled fabric supports of the type which permits the goods to bereadily unwound from the bolt for dispensing or display purposes.
The principal object of my invention is to provide a rolled fabric support of the character described, which will prevent damage to the bolt of goods supported thereon, which shall comprise relatively few and simple parts, thereby making it easy to construct and assemble, which shall be rugged in construction, yet neat in appearance, which shall be .easy to operate, highly efficient and a general improvement in the art.
Other objects of this invention will in part be obvious and in part hereinafter pointed out.
The invention accordingly consists in the features of construction, combinations of elements, and arrangement of parts which will be exemplified in the construction hereinafter described, and of which thescope of application will be indicated in the following claims.
In the accompanying drawing, in which is shown one of the various possible embodiments of this invention,

Referring now in detail to the drawing, there is described a rolled fabric support constructed in accordance with my invention, comprising a base In constructed of any suitable rigid material such as wood. While in the drawing I have shown the base Ill as annular in shape, it is understood that any other satisfactory design for the base may be employed. Rotatably mounted upon and spaced above the base In at a predetermined distance, is a platform ,II. The said platform I I may be made of material similar to that of the base and may be substantially equal in length to the diameter of the base I0, of sufiicient width to properly support a bolt of material B, and provided with rounded ends, as shown.
To aid in supporting the bolt B on the platform II and to cause the said bolt B to rotate with the said platform I I, I have provided an upstanding flat member I5, preferably constructed of thin rigid non-twistable material, such for example as sheet metal, on the nature of approximatelys of an inch thick. The bolt holding member I5 is preferably made relatively wide, as shown, so that said member I5 will be prevented at all times from turning upon its axis within the bolt of material, which would render the device ineffective and cause damage to the goods. The height of the member I5 may be made to suit the average size of the bolts of materials placed upon the support. When it is desired to dispense a portion of the goods from a rolled fabric, such as bolt B, the saidbolt is placed on the member I5 so that the said member I5 either passes through the core C of, the bolt B, or between two adjacent convolutions of the material near the core.
In rolled fabric supports of the character described, it is essential that there be no projecting portions or members on the surfaces of the member I5 or on the top surface of the platform I I adjacent the member I5 to interfere or catch in the 'convolutions of the goods of the bolt B as it isslidably-received on the member I5.
By my invention, I have provided a means for attaching the bolt holding member I5 to the rotatable platform I I, whereby the surfaces of the member I5 will be smooth from the top thereof down to and flush with the top surface of the platform II. To accomplish this, I provide a slotted aperture I6 in the platform II to permit a portion of the member I5 adjacent the bottom end thereof to pass through said aperture I6, and
extend below said platform a predetermined distance. The said projecting portion is then split approximately in half in a longitudinal direction with respect to the member I5, forming two extensions I5a and I5!) which are then folded.

The underside of the platform II may be recessed, as at I! and I8, to cause the folded extensions I5a and I5b to be flush with the bottom surface of the platform I I. The means employed for preventing downward movement of the member I5 in the aperture I6 will soon become apparent.
For rotatably mounting the platform II on the base II], I preferably employ a ball bearing device, comprising a lower channelled annular member 20 suitably fastened to the base I 0 by such means as screws 2 I, and an upper correspondingly channelled annular member 22. The member 22 is provided with an integral'downwardly projecting shaft passing through an aperture 26 in the member 20, to maintain proper alignment be-' tween the ball bearing parts 20 and 22.
