IMPROVEMENT IN GRAIN-LIFTERS FOR HARVESTERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 209,473, dated October 29, 1878; application filed September 20, 1878.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, G. A. GUTTERMANN, of'
Belleville, in the State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Harvester Attachments; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and
v exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use it, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form part of this specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in attachments for harvesters; and it consists in the arrangement and combination of parts whereby fallen grain, which has a tendency to choke the cutter, and which cannot be cut' by means of which the arm and the sharppointed piece e are fastened together. This piece e projects about two feet from the fingerchoke up, while the flange 9 leads it smoothly to the upper elevator. This flange is here shown as being turned outward at right an gles; but a less angle will answer the same purpose.
My attachment need not necessarily be fastened to the platform, as it may be fastened to the elevator or the seat-board.
Having thus described my invention, I claim--- 7 As 'an attachment for harvesters, the sharppointed lifting-piece 6, having flange g, in combination with the supporting-arm. a, having a slotted upright portion for vertically adjusting piece 6, and a foot for attachment to the cutter-bar, as set forth.
