DEVICE FOR PREPARING DYESTUFF SOLUTIONS Filed June 16, 1936 Patented June 8, 1937 DEVICE FOR PREPARING DYEST'UFF SOLU- I 1 TIONS Joseph Sabetay Grassiani, Sofia, Bulgaria, assignor to Bruder Grassiani, Sofia, Bulgaria Application June 16', 1936, SerialNo. 85,466
' In Bulgaria June 20, 1935 3 Claims.
My invention relates to a device for economically preparing a dyestuflf solution and more especially the solution of bluing in water when rinsing washed linen.
5 It is an object of my invention to provide a device of this kind, the use of which results in a saving of dyestufl.
Hitherto the dyestufi, such as bluing, has as a rule been wrapped in a piece of fabric or. a ba pervious to water, which was then placed in the rinsing water. This mode of proceeding proved unsatisfactory in use, since as a rule the bag was discarded together with the dyestufl left therein. On the other hand, if the bag was retained for further use, some of the solution remaining therein would drip out and soil the hands.
The device according to this invention does away with these drawbacks.
In the drawing aflixed to this specification and forming part thereof, a. device embodying my invention is illustrated diagrammatically by way of example.
In the drawing,
Fig. 1 is a plan view of the handle,
Fig. 2 is a side elevation showing the bag containing the bluing in position in the handle before use.
Fig. 3 is a similar view of the after use and Fig. 4 shows the device with the bag .containing the dyestufl when stored away for further use.
Referring to the drawing, F is a handle, which may be made of wood, metal or the like, and A device directly i and B are two larger holes at the ends of the handle, while c, c are small holes in the grip end of the handle. D is the bag containing the bluing and D is the part of the bag surrounding the opening. E is a string, one end of which is tied around the part D of the bag and closes same and E is the farther end of the string, which extends through the openings 0', c. When using the device, the bluing or other dyestufl is placed in the bag D and the part of the bag D' surrounding the opening is passed through the hole A and a loop at theend of the string E is placed around it and tightened to close the bag. as shown in Fig. 2. Now the has may be introduced into the water and moved therein to cause water to enter the bag and dissolve some of the bluing, which is however prevented from escaping through the opening of the bag, which is closed by the string. When a sufflcient quantity of the dyestuil has been dis-,
solved in the water, the string E is pulled and the neck portion D of the bag lifted through the hole A, whereby the bag is compressed somewhat and the water in the bag expelled by the pressure. Now the end E of the bag is pulled to 5 -maintain the bag in the storing position shown in Fig. 4 and the end E may be fixed as shown in Fig. 4.
Alternatively, if the string E is replaced by a rubber band, this latter will automatically pull the bag up through the hole A and thereby compress it.
With the aid of this device the bag need only be drawn several times through the water and may thereafter be withdrawn and pulled back through the hole A into theposition shown in Fig. 4, without the hands being soiled and more than the necessary quantity of bluing spent.
After use the device may be suspended on the wall by the hole B.
I wish it to be understood that I do not desire to be limited to the exact details of construction shown and described for obvious modifications will occur to a person skilled in the art.
I claim: 1 25 1. A device for use in dissolving a dyestuil such as bluing in a liquid such as water comprising in combination a handle with a hole at one end, a bag pervious to liquid for the reception of the dyestuil extending with its neck portion through said hole and a string, one end of which is placed around this neck portion so as to close it, and means for fixing the other end of the string near the other end of said handle.
2. A device for use in dissolving a dyestuf! such as bluing in a liquid such as water comprising in combination a handle with a hole at one end, a bag pervious to liquid for the reception of the dyestuif extending with its neck portion through said hole and a string one end of which is placed around this neck portion so as to close it, and two holes near the other endof said handle for the reception of the free end of said string.
3. A device for use in dissolving a dyestufl such as bluing in a liquid such as water comprising in combination a handle with a hole at one end, a bag pervious to liquid for the reception oi the dyestufl extending with its neck portion through said hole and a rubber string. one end of which is placed around this neck portion so as to close it, 50 and means for fixing the other end of the rubber string near the other end of said handle.
