DECORATIVE ROSETTE Filed June 10, 1935 JkZz'a'ZZlyeZl/wz'ei;
INVENTOR By wajmvr W IIII SS ATTORN EY Patented Nov. 10, 1936 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE Application June 10,
1 Claim.
The invention relates to a decorative rosette and more especially to an imitative floral decoration for curtains, draperies, quilts, gloves,
purses, dresses, doilies, cushions and other articles.
The primary object of the invention is the provision of a rosette of this character, wherein the same when applied to an article, for example, curtains, draperies, quilts, gloves, purses, dresses, cushions or other articles will present a surface ornamentation and this will be imitative of a flower so as to render attractiveness to the article. Another object of the invention is the provision of a rosette of this character which is simple in construction, neat and attractive in appearance, adding to the fancifulness of the article and inexpensive to manufacture.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, which discloses the preferred embodiment of the invention and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.
In the accompanying drawing: Figure 1 is a plan view of a pillow or cushion showing the rosette constructed in accordance with the invention applied thereto.
Figure 2 is an enlarged fragmentary plan view showing the rosette in place.
Figure 3 is a side elevation. Similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views in the drawing.
1935, Serial No. 25,881
Referring to the drawing in detail, A designates generally a cushion or pillow which may be made in any desirable shape and as usual is formed with a surface covering 5 and an edging 6 marginally thereof to give fanciful characteristic qualities thereto. Mounted upon the cover 5 at both or opposite sides of the pillow or cushion A and at selected localities are the rosettes imitative of a flower for decorative purposes. This rosette is formed from a fabric piece 1 folded and fluted or twisted on itself to provide petal or lobe formations 8 in circular order about and concentric to a center button formation 9, the fabric 1 being sewed or stitched by a thread ID to retain the formations and this thread serves to join the rosette in place with the cover 5. It is, of course, to be understood that the rosette after the formation thereof, as previously stated, may be fastened in place upon a piece of work or article to give thereto a surface ornamentation and decorative characteristics thereto.
What is claimed is:
A rosette, constructed from a single piece of fabric which is centrally rounded upon itself and bulged both outwardly and inwardly to provide a button and which fabric, from the inner round portion of the button is fluted and twisted upon itself to provide lobe portions which project outwardly from the button portion in all directions and which lobe portions have their outer ends inwardly directed and secured to the fabric stitched thereto and have their outer edges concentric to the center of the button.
