As shown in Figures 1, 5 and 13, a switch plate 40 is pivotally supported on the insulation member 26a set into the interrupted contact strip 26 and when positioned as shown in Figure 1 is closed with current flowing through the contact strip. When it is desired to break the flow of current, the switch plate 40 is moved on its pivotal support and assumes the position shown in Figure 5. With the switch plate All-so disposed, the same is restrained from pivotal movement by means of the leg 42 of a bell crank lever that carries at its free end an abutment block 42a. shown in detail in Figure 13 with one face of the abutment block grooved as at 42b for engagement with the pin 4| rising from the switch plate 40. As shown more clearly in Figure 13, the other leg 420 of the bell crank lever carrying the abutment block 42a is adapted to be aligned with an arm 40a rising from the plate 22 and said arm and leg 420 have registering openings 42d for the passage of a shackle of a lock lla shown in Figure 5. It will therefore be seen that the switch plate 40 is locked in its circuit breaking position against accidental movement to closing position and with injury to the operator or repair man eliminated.
A ledge 43 rises from each side edge of the plate 22 above the support 23 and an insulation carrier plate 44 is slidably mounted on the ledges 43. As shown in Figures 1, '7 and 8, angle iron strips 45 are interposed between the upper and outer sides of the ledges 43 and the carrier plate M with the carrier plate secured to the angle iron strips 45 by means of fastening devices 56. The angle iron strips 45 have a pin and slot connection 41- with the ledges 63 to be limited and guided in their movements.
As shown inFigure 1, four fuses 48, d9, 50 andwith blade contacts depending from the carrier plate 44, the blade contacts associated with the contact strips 25 and 26 being designated by the reference characters 56, 51, 58 and 59, while the blade contacts associated with the contact strips 21, and 28 are designated by'the reference characters 60, 6! 62 and 63 as diagrammatically illustrated in Figure 10.
The carrier plate 44 is adapted to be shifted within the casing for placing the pairs of fuses 48-50 and 495| into the electrical circuit and to accomplish the sliding movement of the carrier plate 41, with the fuses thereon and the contact blades, there is provided a cross shaft 66 shown in Figure 7 as being journalled in the plate supports 23 and also in bearings 65 depending from the plate 22, the opposite ends of the shaft 64 being keyed as at 66 and having an arm 6'! fixed to each key portion with a' link 68 at the upper end of the arm that is pivotally connected at its outer end as at 69 to the angle iron strip 45 as shown in Figure 1. One keyed end of the shaft 66 extends through the side wall l6 of the casing and carries an operating handle 10.
A look device is associated with the casing and cover for holding the cover in locked position when either pair of fuses is in the circuit and as shown more clearly in Figures 7 and 9, an arm 'H is fixed to the adjacent keyed portion 66 of the shaft 64 and the free end thereof is socketed for the reception of a pin 72 that is spring pressed as at 1,3 to be projected from the upper end of r the arm H for reception in the recesses 14 the curved edge 15 of the plate 16 for holding the shaft 64 and carrier plate 44 in its shifted position. A pin ll projects laterally from the upper free end of the arm "H and works in a slot 18 in the side wall 16 of the casing and has its free end receivable in the opening 79 in the plate 80 that is secured to the inner face of the side wall l6 and which plate is spring pressed toward the the side wall l6 of the casing, the lower end of the latch 83 being slotted as at 85 with the pin 11 extending therethrough, the 1atch83 being selectively engageable at its upper end with the keeper hooks 86 carried by the cover 20.

From the above detailed description of theinvention, it is believed that the construction and operation thereof will at once be apparent and while there areherein shown and described the 7 preferred embodiments of the invention, it is nevertheless to be understood that minor changes may be made therein without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
I claim:- p 1. In a combined electric switch and reserve fuse mounting, a casing and hinged cover therefor, a fixed plate mounted in the casing in spaced 45 new pair of fuses placed in the circuit. The l with two of the fixed contacts, means operable exteriorly of the casing for moving the fuses, electric circuit wires in communication with the fixed contacts, the mounting for the fuses and movable contacts including a plate slidably supported at its opposite edges on the fixed plate and in spaced relation thereto, the movable contacts depending from the slidable plate, a journalled shaft extending across the casing beneath the fixed plate, and an upwardly extending arm and link connection between the ends of the shaft and the sliding plate.

In a combined electric switch and reserve fuse mounting, a casing and hinged cover therefor, a fixed plate mounted in the casing in spaced relation to the bottom wall thereof, fixed contacts rising from the upper face of the plate, four fuses movably mounted in the casing, a pair of contacts movable with each fuse and arranged with respect to the fixed contacts whereby a pair of the movable contacts is selectively engageable with two of the fixed contacts, means operable exteriorly of the casing for moving the fuses, electric circuit wires in communication with the fixed contacts, the mounting for the fuses and movable contacts including a slidable plate, ledges rising from opposite sides of the fixed plate, angle iron wear strips depending from opposite edges of the slidable plate and slidably supported on the ledges, pin and slot connections between the angle iron strips and ledges to limit movements of the sliding plate, a journalled shaft extending across the casing beneath the fixed plate, an arm fixed to each end of the shaft and rising therefrom, horizontal link connections between the upper ends of the arms and corresponding ends of the adjacent side portions of the angle iron strip for effecting sliding move-- ments of the sliding plate and coaction of the contacts.
