A further object of this-invention is to provide 7 a bearing for a blower element which bearingwill be simple in construction and of such a character that the-usual bearing brackets normally positioned withinithe boiler may be entirely eliminatecl.
Other objects-and advantages of the invention will become more apparent as the following descriptionproceeds, particularly when reference is had tothe several embodiments of the inventive idea disclosed in the accompanying drawings wherein,

Referring then particularly to the drawings wherein like referencecharac'ters designate cor responding-parts throughout all views, there is illustrated in Figure 1 a boiler of the bent tubesymmetrical on opposite sides of; a vertical center line passing through'drum l2.
In accordance with the usual practice, the drums ln and ll -are connected= by a plurality of boiler tubes l3 arranged in rows to form a bank 5 of tubes M adjacent the oneside of the boiler. To=facilitate future reference to certain rows of the tubes, the outermost two rows of this bank are designated by the reference characters l5, l6; lr'lfand I8, respectively. 10
'In accordance with the usual practice, bafiles H1. andy'2ll are arranged within the bank M jor directing the products orcombustionadjacent the tubes-18 and if desired; suitable blower elements 2i andwZZ may be associated with the baffle 20 15 for directing; jets of cleanings fluid adjacent the lower outside portion of the bank of tubes M.
The present invention contemplates in particular the provision of a-novel type of bearing for supporting blower elements 25 and 26 adjacent theupper outside edge andthe lower-inside edge, respectively, of the bank of tubes l4. To accomplish this, certain: of the tubes in row [5 'are displaced or ofiset'as'at 2'! to cooperate with the tubes in-row 16 as-at 28 to provide a bearing for the element 25. Thus alternate tubes -in-the row l6-maybeomitted-and opposite tubesin-the row l5 ma-y be bent inwardly through the spacesformed in the row l5 by the omission of the tubes andthen backwardly into the row 30 lfiwhereby acrotch is-formed betweenthe row of tubes I 6 andtherdeformed portionsZJofalternatetubes in the row l5, in which the blower element may rest. A similar arrangement is shown for supporting the blower element 26, it 5:

Extending from thedmm 'Hlto the-drum i=2 is a bank of tubes.- 35, andextending from-thedrum l2-to the other of the .lower drums (not shown) 5 is asecond bank: -of tubes 36.. These two banks of tubes are-arranged at'an angle to each other whereby a .v shaped space 3 L is formed between the-same; and it constitutes? a-f eature of this invention tol displace certain ,of the tubesbi these omission of tubes therein, across the space 31 and then upwardly in the row 40 in the spaces formed by the omission of the tubes in this row, for connection to the drum l2. Similarly alternate tubes 46 in the row 42 extend laterally through the openings formed in row 40 by the omission of the tubes in this row across the space 3'! and then upwardly in row 39 in the spaces formed by the omission of the tubes in thisrow for connection to the drum l2. At thepoint where the tubes 45 and 46 cross, midway between the banks of tubes, suitable wearing pads 41 may be welded or otherwise-fixed to these tubes to provide a bearing for the blower element 38. Thus the blower element may be rotatably supported between the twobanks of tubes upon the deformed or displaced portions of the'boiler tubes for directing cleaning fiuid adjacent the portions of the boiler to be cleaned.
In Figure 4 atelescopic blower element is shown mounted in the space between the banks 35 and 35 and by reference to this figure it will be noted that the blower element 38 extends through an opening 5!] in the boiler wall 5[ for rotatable mounting in a suitable head 52 through which cleaning fluid is supplied to the element. In its retracted position-the blower element will be substantially entirely housed within the opening in the boiler wall, while in its extended position it will be supported by the tubes 45 and 46, as will be clearly apparent by reference. to the drawings. The blower element may be rotated by means of a gear 53 fixed to its end within the head 52, this gear being driven by a pinion 54 fixed to a shaft 55 whichin turn is actuated by a sheave wheel or the like 56. I A flexible member 51 may be connected to the inner end of the blower and operatively associated with a brake drum 58 for braking extension of the blower element under the pressure of the cleaning fluid.
In Figure '5 a rotatable blower element 38 isshown mounted in the space 31, this blowerelement having a rotatable bearing on the pads 41 and'having itsouter end mounted in a suitable head Bil from which it receives cleaning fluid in accordance with the usual practice. As is customary, in blower elements'of this character, a sheave wheel 6| may be provided for driving a pinion fiz'whichin turn'engages a gear 63 fixed to the blower element for rotating the latter.
In Figures 6 and 7 the invention is shown as applied to a boiler of the cross drum horizontal tube type. In a boiler of this type the tubes are arranged in 'rows which extend in an incline across the boiler'to form a bankof tubes 65. In this. constructionthe uppermost row of tubes is designated. by the reference character 66, while the lowermost row of tubes is designated by; the reference character 61.
c In accordanceiwith the usual practice, blower elements .10 are arranged transversely of the rows of. tubes for directing jets of cleaning fluid through the bank of tubes to clean the same. The blower elements Ill arranged at the top of the bank aresuppo'rtedon the row of tubes 66, and
itforms a feature of this inventionto deform or displace alternate tubes in this row to form ofiset portions H which extend over the blower elements 13, as clearly shown in the drawings. Thus the blower elements are fixed against sliding movement longitudinally of the boiler tubes, the offset or displaced portions of the tubes forming bearings in which the blower elements are rotatably journalled.
At the base of the bank 55 the'blo'wer elements 18 are directly beneath the row 61 and are supported in juxtaposition to this row by offset portions 12"of alternate tubes which extend around the blower elements to provide bearings for' the same; Thus the blower elements may be rotatably supported directly below the bank of tubes by certain of the tubes which are displaced to provide bearings.
From the above it is believed that the structure and operation of the invention will be clearly apparent. In each case the blower elements are supported adjacent the tubes to be cleaned by offset or displaced'portions of the tubes which form bearings for receiving the blower elements.
Thus the invention in its broader aspects contemplates thecombination' in a boiler of a tube displaced fromits normal position to provide a bearing for .a blower element whereby the blower element may be supported for movement within the boiler without mounting in-the boiler'expensive and heat-absorbing bearingbrackets. Thus the blower elements may be mounted in the desired positions by utilizing the boilertubes as bearings readly, apparent that the boiler tubes may be readily deformed or displaced in numerous ways other than those disclosedto accomplish the results desired, and applicant therefore reserves the.
right to make such changes in the details of construction and arrangement of parts as will fall within the purview of the attached claims.
What I claim as my invention is:
1. In combination, banks of boiler tubes, said banks being spaced from each'other throughout substantially their entire lengths, and a blower element arranged. between said banks certain tubes only of said banks being bent laterally to span the space between said banks and crossing each other at the'midpoint between said banks to provide bearings for said blower element.
2. In'combination a plurality of boiler tubes, the normal arrangement of the tubes being such that the tubes are not adapated to: adequately support a'blowerlelement, and a blower element disposed adjacentsaidtubes, certain of saidtubes having portions so displaced out of their normal blower element disposed substantially horizontal plurality of boiler tu es,
ly adjacent said boiler tubes, certain of said boiler tubes having portions so displaced out of their normal position as to constitute substantially horizontal supports for said blower element.
5. In combination a plurality of substantially vertically disposed boiler tubes, and a blower element disposed substantially horizontally adjacent said boiler tubes, certain of said boiler tubes having portions so displaced out of their normal positions as to cooperate with others of said tubes to formupwardly opening angularly shaped supports for the blower element.
6. In combination, rows of boiler tubes, said rows of boiler tubes being spaced from each other throughout substantially their entire length, and a blower element arranged between said rows of boiler tubes, certain tubes only of said rows being bent laterally to span the space between said rows and crossing each other between said rows to provide supports for said blower element.
