(Cl. 158-118) Regulating nozzles for gas burners are known which serve the purpose of regulating the proportion of the requisite quantity of gas and air. In the known embodiments in Bunsen burners, a regulating nozzle is provided for the gas and in front-of itis located a mixing tube for the air. The nozzle and tube have a definite spaced relationship and generally are accommodated in a housing. The mixing tube located in front of the nozzle is also constituted to serve for the mounting of the burner. In order to obtain a perfect regulation of the gas and air stream, it was necessary to mount the gas nozzle and the mixing tube precisely concentrically with respect to each other. This, however, involves most punctiliously exact work. .The manufacture of such apparatus is expensive.
The presentl invention relates to a gas regulating nozzle in which the gas nozzle and an auxiliary mixing tube are so interconnected that the mixing tube serves 'as a regulating member for the gas nozzle as well as constituting the support on which the removable mixing tube is suspended. This arrangement ensures a central mounting of the gas nozzle with respect to the auxiliary mixing tube. A housing such as has frequently been employed is dispensed with. Due tothe invention, the production of gas burners equipped with regulating nozzles is considerably simplified and improved, and in addition material reduction in expense is afforded.
In order to prevent rotation of the removable mixing tube on said support, a second nozzle or other abutment may be provided. The large nozzle may be disposed at the top and the small nozzle or abutment at the bottom, or conversely. Also, onenozzle may be a regulating nozzle and the other a simple nozzle.
Various embodiments of the invention are shown by way of example in the accompanying drawing, in which Fig. 1 shows a section through a gas tap with a regulating nozzle in accordance with the invention.
Figs. 2 and 3 show in longitudinal and transverse section the suspension of the burner on a modified form of auxiliary mixing tube.
Fig. 4 shows a section corresponding to Fig. 1 of a construction in which the obturating member of the regulating nozzle for the large ame is constituted by a conical pin.
Fig. 5 shows an arrangement similar to Fig. 1 with the difference that the inner nozzle member and not the outer nozzle member is displaced on rotating the auxiliary'mixing tube.

the device for securing the front wall 5 of the stove or hearth and the lug for the retaining screw 6. .The supply pipes may be provided with oscillation nozzles 1 as well as with regulating nozzles 3 and Il of any suitable kind, certain em- 10 bodiments being shown in the drawing. In accordance with the invention, the regulating nozzle 3 is adjusted, i. e. made smaller or larger by rotata simple circular body, can be rotated in order to regulate the position of the threaded outer sleeve of the nozzle from the outside without' removing the mixing tube I0, this rotating does not effect any axial or lateral displacement of member 8. It remains located centrally with respect to the nozzle and the passage II of the mixing tube I0 and cannot be displaced forwardly or rearwardly. Irrespective of the regulation of the nozzles the mixing tube I0 which is suspended on the 30 member 8, invariably remains in the same position. The member 8 thus serves to regulate the nozzle 3 and lock the same in any desired adjustment, and also as an auxiliary mixing tube and a spacing and supporting member for the mixing tube I0, maintaining the proper relationship at all times between the removable mixing tube I0 and the nozzle 3. In order that the burner should not turn when the member 8 is rotated, it can be held by means of a lip, lug, screw or other suitable means. `In the drawing, constructions are shown in which the nozzle 4 of the second ame ofthe burner, the small flame, is embraced by two jaws I2' on theend of the mixing tube I2 (Figs. l, 2 and 3). The nozzle 3 can 45 be protected against overflowing liquids by means of a separate sleeve I3 on the member 8 or in any other way. f
In order to afford a further regulation of the primary air, the member 8 may be increased or 50 decreased in length at its forward end vby means y of an adjustable sleeve I4.
The modification shown in Fig. 2 is similar to that shown'in Fig. 1, except' that the sleeve I4 is omitted.
Figs. 4 and 5 illustrate modied forms `oi the 'nozzle 3 which may be utilized, if desired, in carrying out the invention, the element 9 for preventing relative rotation between the member 8 and the nozzle sleeve taking the form of a screw. In Fig. 5 a nozzle cap .for the nozzlev 3 is formed integral with the member 8.
Figs. 6 and '7 illustrate further modifications in the detail construction of the nozzle 3, which by reason of their similarity to the form shown in Fig. 1 are believed to require no further description.
While certain embodiments of the invention have been described in theforegoing description and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, this has been done by way of example, and the invention is not to be regarded as limited thereby i but its scope extends therebeyond within the ambit of the claims.
What I claim is:-
1. In a gas burner a regulating nozzle having a regulating member rotatably mounted thereon, a retaining screw engaging said regulating member to prevent axial bodily displacement thereof, and to secure it in adjusted position, a mixing tube carried on and centered by said regulating member, and means on said burner for preventing rotation of said mixing tube on rotation of the regulating member.
2. In a gas burner, a body portion provided with a passage or conduit, a regulating nozzle mounted thereon, an adjusting member for said nozzle, a' mixing tube and means for" mounting.
said mixing tube on said adjusting member with the inlet end thereof disposed in spaced cooperative relation to said nozzle, said adjusting member constituting the sole support for said'mixing tube.
3. In a gas burner, a body portion provided l with a passage or conduit, a regulating nozzle mounted thereon, said nozzle including a rotatably adjustable sleeve member, an adjustingl member surrounding said sleeve member and n keyed thereto for manually adjusting said nozzle,
a mixing tube and means for mounting said mixing tube on said adjusting member in spaced cooperative relation to said nozzle.

In a gas burner, a body portion provided with a passage or conduit, a regulating nozzle threadedly mounted thereon. said nozzle including a rotatable outer sleeve member having a projecting portion extending in front of 'the noz-- zle orifice, a mixing tube and means for mounting said mixing tube on said projecting portion in spaced cooperative relation to said nozzle.
5..In a gas burner, a body portion provided with a passage or conduit, a regulating nozzle mounted thereon,`said nozzle including :a rotatable outer sleeve member having a projecting portion extending in front of the nozzle oriice and coaxial therewith, a mixing tube, means for mounting said mixing tube on said coaxial projecting portion and means on said burner body for preventing rotation of said`mixing tube on rotation of said outer sleeve member.
6. In a gas burner, a body portion provided with a passage or'conduit, a regulating nozzle` ber maintaining said mixing tube in spaced cooperative relation to said nozzle.

In a gas burnerya body portion provided with a passage or conduit, a regulating nozzle mounted thereon, said nozzle including a' rotatable sleeve member,` a mixing tube in spaced cooperative relation to said nozzle, a supporting member for said'mixing tube having a sleeve portion surrounding said nozzle sleeve and keyed thereto, said mixing tube and said supporting member having interengaging elements thereon supporting the mixing tube in spaced cooperative relation to and with its passage coaxial with the orifice of said nozzle.
8. In ya gas burner, a body portion provided with a passage or conduit, a regulating nozzle mounted thereon, Asaid nozzle including a rotatable outer sleeve member, a. rotatable adjusting member for said sleeve member, said adjusting member having an axial bore extending therethrough providing a sleeve portion at one end surrounding said lsleeve member of the nozzle and turning therewith, and having air inlet openings intermediate its ends whereby the other end thereof provides anpauxiliary mixing tube in front of the nozzle orifice, and a mixing tube carried by said adjusting member in spaced cooperative relation to the last-mentioned end thereof.

is adjustable in length to control the primary air.
12. A device according to claim 8 in which the adjusting member is held against axial displacement by a screw which also serves to clamp said member in its adjustedl angular position when tightened.
