APPARATUS BEAMIING YARN Wilhelm Reiners, Gladbach-Rheydt, and Gustav Kahlisch, Rheydt, Germany, assignors to W. Schlafhorst 8g 00., Gladbach-Rheydt, Germany, a corporation of Germany 1 Application January 21, 1925, Serial No. 2,28 In Germany April 9, 1934 8 Claims. (CI. 28-32) Our invention relates to an apparatus for S m l r to Figure 2 d ow the third embodibeaming yarn and constitutes a further improvee a d, r ment of the beaming apparatus described and Figure is a detail of Figure 4 in vertical secfilaimedin our co-pending application for. Letters tion. s. f r 6 Patent Serial Number 606,240. In all these figures, 3 denotes the thread guide 5 In beaming slippery or very delicate yams, comb, which, together with its traversing cam 5,
such as artificial silk, in cross'winding for bleachis carried by a m Sw ly O d On a ing', dyeing and like purposes it b e f nd shaft 11- and balanced by means of counteradvisable to provide the beam with the usual wei 1 flanges, in order to support the yarn body at its In the embodiment according to Figures 1 and 10 ends. 2 the flanges of the beam are of greater diameter In order to enable the thread guide comb with than the finished yarn hotly! The guide Bomb 3 such flanged beams, to be disposed as close as is disposed so as to traverse between the flanges. possible to-the place where the thread' runs onto It m y have it fi ts arranged in a Continuous 15 the beam and, if required, to adjust the marginal straight line, like in the embodiment of Figures 4 15 threads more densely,'as disclosed in our aboved 0 may be subdivided 3 Shown in Figures mentionedprior specification, the present inven In a thfise embodiments the w ends of tion provides that the two ends of the guide the guide combare made displaceable in accordcomb are made displaceable, for instance, arance with the length of the comb traverse, In ranged hingedly or resiliently, so that while the" e embodiment s own in Figures 20 comb traverses between the flanges of the beam end sections 312 of the guide comb 3 are mounted its resilient or hinged ends alternately run on the comb carrier 3a each on a vertical pivot against the flanges and are folded, collapsed or and are under the action of Sp n (not Shown) turned over in such a manner, that the marginal in such a manner as to run alternately onto the threads of the yarn ribbon automatically adjust two flanges 11,-!) of the beam'during the to and 25 themselves more densely. Furthermore, as with fro motion of the comb, are swun inward increasing diameter of the yarn body the movwhen receding'lfrom the flang Swing back 170 able ends of the guide comb would glide beyond their original position under the action of their the edge of the flanges of the beam, our invention springs. Consequently the cross winding fully further provides fixed stops above the edges of extends up to the flanges and, in addition, the the flanges, against which stops the displaceable marginal threads adjust themselves more densely ends of the comb abut. I ,in the vicinity of the flanges b, 12, since the swing- With great winding speeds this gliding of the ing-end sections 3b of the guide comb during their displaoeable ends of the thread guide comb along being swung by the flanges form a gradually inthe flanges of the beam might cause certain discreasing angle with the comb carrier 311. turbances. In order to avoid this, our invention further, the swinging end sections 3b of the comb further provides for positively guiding these disat the end of the winding-up operation would placeable guide comb ends by means of levers advance-beyond the flanges b, b, fixed stops it fixed thereto. and stationary stops co-operating may be provided againstwhich the end sections with these levers, so that the ends of the guide 3?) of the comb alternately'strike, so as to be 40 comb no longer touch the flanges of the beam at rocked as previously by the flanges themselves.- all and, consequently, no fixed stops are required With greatwinding-up speeds, however, the for them above the flanges. repeated striking and gliding of the comb sec- In order that our invention may be clearlytions 312 'on the flanges -b, b may cause certain understood and readily carried into effect, three disturbances. In order to avoid this, the two 45 embodiments of the sameare illustrated scheend sections 3b of the comb may have fixed to 1 matically in the accompanying drawing by way each of them an arm d which by a pin e engages of example, in which! a in the bifurcated end i of an arm I, see Figure 3 Figure 1 is a side elevation with parts insection The two arms I are mounted on a shaft 9 which of a beaming apparatus according to the'invenis carried bythe arms 6 and is therefore coupled 50 tion and represents the first embodiment thereof, with the shaft carrying the comb carrier 11, so
a Figure 2 is atop view of Figure 1, fthat the arms 6 execute an upward motio Figure Bis a fragmentary top view similar to gether withthe guide comb, according to the FigureZ ahd shows the second embodiment, increasing diameter of the yarn body on the sli g is likwisea, fragmentary top view beam. In this manner the' two swinging end sections 3b of the comb, due to their being hingedly connected to the bifurcated ends i of the arms I and pivotally supported on the comb carrier 3a, are positively guidedduring the traverse of the comb in such a manner as to remain always separated by a little from the flanges b, b, whereby any contact whatever with the latter is prevented.
In the embodiment represented in Figures 4 and 5 the thread guide comb 3 extends in a continuous straight line and its two ends 31) are in the form of separate tubular pieces which surround the tube-shaped main portion of the comb and are under the action of springs (not shown) lodged within the main portion. These springs serve in known manner to guide the dents of the comb and permanently urge outwards the separate end sections 312. Stop pins ,1 fixed in the main comb portion and co operating with slotsprovided in the end sections 3b serve to limit the outward motion of the latter in accordance with the length of the comb traverse. The position of the guide comb shown in Figure 4 shows how the one end section of the comb is in contact with the respective flange 1), whereby the dents at this place adjust themselves correspondingly more densely, whilst the opposite end section is separated from its flange, so that here the marginalthreads run onto the beam in their normal spacing. In this embodiment two fixed stops it be provided, to prevent the resiliently mounted end sections 3b of the comb from gliding beyond the flanges b, b or touching them at all directly.
