Description
Des. w, 1935. HINZ 2,023,763
PASTE TUBE CLAMP Filed April 22, 1935 Patented Dec. 10, 1935 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 2 Claims.
'Ihis invention appertains 130 new and useful improvements in appliances for collapsible tubes such as pa'int and paste tubes and more particula.rly 110 a. nove1 clamp for engaging and meinr taim'ng fla.t the empty portion of the Taube.
The principal objeet f the ptesent invention is to provide such a, clamp which can be easily engaged onto a tube and easily fed. 130 maintain the empty portion of the tube fiat.
Other important objects and advantages of the invention Will bec-ome apparent 130 the reader o1 the following specification.
In the drawing:
Flgure 1 represents a, front elevational view of 15 the tube with the cla.mp attached.
Figure 2 is a side elevational view of the tube With the clamp attach'ed.
Figu're 3 is a, perspective view of one section of the clamp.
Figure 4 is a perspective view of the other section of the clamp.
Referring to the drawing wherein like numerals designate like parts, it can be seen that numera.l 5 represents the collapsible paint or paste tube, 25 While numeral 6 generally refers to the novel clamp structure.
This clamp structure consists of an elongated strip of spring material bent upon itself and at its bent portion rolled as a.t 1 so as 120 impart spring 0 tendency to the leg portions 8 and 9. Ea.ch of these leg portions 8 anal 9 is struck out to provide a loop II], while their extreme portions are slight- 1y diverse inwardly as a1: l I.
The other section of the clamp consists of an elongated strip of material of a. springy natura which is bent upon itself at its midpoint and formed at this point to provide a. roll I2. The
leg portions I3I3 a.re each provided with an elongated narrow tongue I4.
In using this clamp, the section of the clamp shown in Figure 3 is first disposed. over one side of the tube at the empty portion thereof and sec- 5 ondarily the section shown in Flgure 4 is disposed over the other edge portion of the tube and. these sections eure brought together with the tongues I4M extending through the loops III-I0 in the manner substantially shown in Figure 1. 10 With the tongues anal loops thus engaged, the sections of the c1amp will remain intact and compress the empty portion of the taube in the manner substantially shown in both Figures 1 and 2.
While the foregoing specificationset5 forth the invention in specific terms, it is to be understood that numerous changes in the shape, size, and materials may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and. scope of the invention as claimed. hereinafter.
Having described the invention, wha.t is claimed as new is:
1. A tube clamp of the character described comprising a. pa.ir 0f connectible sections, each of sa.id sections consisting of a. spring strip bent upon itself to provide a pair of leg members, one of said sections being provided With loops 011 its leg members and the other section being provided. with tongues on its leg members for engagement into the said loops.
2. A tube clamp of the character described. comprising a, pa.ir of connectible sections, ea.ch of seid sections consisting of a. spring strip bent over upon itself 1:0 provide a. pair of leg members, and means whereby the leg members of one section ma.y be secured in overlapping relationship to the leg members of the other section.
