Abstract

- This application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Application Ser. No. 62/146,673 filed Apr. 13, 2015 and U.S. Provisional Application Ser. No. 62/264,061 filed Dec. 7, 2015, both applications are incorporated herein by reference.
- This specification relates to jewelry, and more particularly to necklaces and bracelets having multiple necklace and bracelet strands which may be detachably connected, and methods of making the same.
- Necklaces and bracelets are popular jewelry items worn by both men and women with many different styles of clothing. Many necklaces and bracelets have one or more necklace or bracelet strands permanently attached at opposite ends of a necklace or bracelet clasp. The necklace and bracelet strands may be formed of chains, links, natural or synthetic gems, gemstones, pearls, beads, and the like and may be made of precious or non-precious materials.
- One drawback of conventional necklaces and bracelets is that the necklace and bracelet strands are permanently attached to the necklace or bracelet clasp, thereby preventing the wearer from creating a multi-strand necklace or bracelet of his/her own design. Thus, a wearer who wishes to have a variety of necklaces and bracelets available for different occasions must purchase multiple necklaces or bracelets of different designs.
- In order to address the drawbacks in the prior art, a necklace and bracelet has been invented that comprises multiple chains each having a ring at an end of each of the multiple chains and a fastener at the other end of each of the multiple chains. The chains are connected to form the necklace or bracelet by connecting the ring of one of the multiple chains to each fastener of the remaining multiple chains and the fastener of the one chain to the ring of each of the remaining multiple chains. This allows, in the case of the necklace, the one chain to be worn around the back of the neck and the remaining chains to be worn at the front of the neck, or, in the case of the bracelet, additional strands to be attached to one original unique clasp and strand.
- Preferably, each of the multiple chains has the same size and shaped ring at one end and the same size and shaped fastener at the other end so as to allow for variety in mixing and matching of the chains which make up the necklace and bracelet and simplicity in the design.
- Each of the multiple chains has the ring and the fastener permanently fixed to the respective ends of the chain so as to simplify the design of the chains that are used to make up the necklace or bracelet and to provide a uniformity of appearance to the necklace or bracelet.
- The number of chains used to form the necklace is two or more and more preferably three or more. Suitably, for the necklace, one of the chains is positioned at the back of the neck while the remaining one or more chains are positioned at the front of the neck.
- Alternatively, two of the multiple chains can be positioned at the back of the neck such that the two chains are joined at the back of the neck while the remaining multiple chains are positioned at the front of the neck.
- Preferably, no more than two of the multiple chains have the same length while the remaining multiple chains have lengths different from the two and different from each other. More preferably, all of the multiple chains have different lengths.
- The rings can be circular-shaped rings or oval-shaped rings.
- The fastener can be a transverse bar, a hook, an oval-shaped fastener, or a circular-shaped fastener.
- Preferably, each of the multiple chains measures about six inches to about thirty inches.
- The necklace of the present invention can be defined as comprising: at least one first chain having a first ring and a first fastener; and a second chain having a second ring and a second fastener; wherein the second ring is removably connected to the first fastener; and the first ring is removably connected to the second fastener.
- Preferably, the necklace of the invention can be defined as comprising: at least one first chain having a first ring and a first fastener, a second chain having a second ring and a second fastener, and a third chain having a third ring and a third fastener. The second chain and the third chain have different lengths. The second ring and the third ring are removably connected to the first fastener, and the first ring is removably connected to the second fastener and to the third fastener.
- In another embodiment, the at least one first chain includes a first section and a second section that may be attached at the back of a user's neck. The first section may include two rings at its respective ends and the second section may include two fasteners at its respective ends.
- Preferably the necklace of the present invention can also be defined as comprising at least one first chain having a first ring and a first transverse bar, a second chain having a second ring and a second transverse bar, and a third chain having a third ring and a third transverse bar. The at least one first chain fits around a user's neck to form the neck portion of the necklace. The second chain and the third chain have different lengths. The second ring and the third ring are removably connected to the first transverse bar, and the first ring is removably connected to the second transverse bar and to the third transverse bar.
- Preferably, the necklace can also include a fourth chain having a fourth ring and a fourth transverse bar. The second chain, the third chain, and the fourth chain have different lengths, the fourth ring is removably connected to the first transverse bar, and the first ring is removably connected to the fourth transverse bar.
- Preferably, the at least one first chain includes a first section and a second section. The first section includes two rings at its respective ends and the second section includes two transverse bars at its respective ends. The first and second sections may be fastened about at the back of a user's neck.
- Preferably, a method for constructing a necklace has also been invented which comprises: selecting a plurality of chains including at least one first chain having a first ring and a first fastener, a second chain having a second ring and a second fastener; and a third chain having a third ring and a third fastener, wherein the second chain and the third chain have different lengths. The second ring and the third ring are removably connected to the first fastener, and the first ring is removably connected to the second fastener and to the third fastener.
- In accordance with another embodiment, a necklace includes a first clasp including a first oval shaped hook and a second oval shaped hook, and a second clasp including a third oval shaped hook and a fourth oval shaped hook. A first chain is connected to the first oval shaped hook, a second chain is connected to the third oval shaped hook, a third chain having a first length is connected to the second oval shaped hook and the fourth oval shaped hook, a fourth chain having a second length is connected to the second oval shaped hook and the fourth oval shaped hook, and a fifth chain having a third length connected to the second oval shaped hook and the fourth oval shaped hook.
- Preferably, the necklace also includes a third clasp, wherein the first chain and the second chain are wrapped around a user's neck and connected to the third clasp.
- Preferably, the first clasp includes the first oval shaped hook, the second oval shaped hook, and one or more first beads disposed between the first oval shaped hook and the second oval shaped hook, and the second clasp includes the third oval shaped hook, the fourth oval shaped hook, and one or more second beads disposed between the third oval shaped hook and the fourth oval shaped hook.
- In accordance with another embodiment, a bracelet includes a clasp having a ring and a closing mechanism, wherein the ring is one of circular shaped and oval shaped, and one or more chains connected to the clasp.
- In accordance with another embodiment, a method of constructing a necklace is provided. A plurality of chains is selected, including at least one first chain having a first ring and a second ring, and a second chain having a third ring and a fourth ring, and a third chain having a fifth ring and a sixth ring, wherein the second chain and the third chain have different lengths. A first clasp having a first hook and a second hook and a second clasp having a third hook and a fourth hook are selected. The first ring is removably connected to the first hook, and the second ring is removably connected to the third hook. The third ring is removably connected to the second hook and the fourth ring is removably connected to the fourth hook. The fifth ring is removably connected to the second hook and the sixth ring is removably connected to the fourth hook.
- In accordance with another embodiment, a necklace includes a first clasp including a first oval shaped hook and a second oval shaped hook, and a second clasp including a third oval shaped hook and a fourth oval shaped hook. A first chain is connected permanently to the first oval shaped hook and to the third oval shaped hook. A second chain having a first length is connected to the second oval shaped hook and the fourth oval shaped hook, and a third chain having a second length is connected to the second oval shaped hook and the fourth oval shaped hook. A pendant is connected to the third chain.
- In accordance with another embodiment, a clasp includes a first element comprising a first curved portion and a first eyelet, a second element comprising a second curved portion and a second eyelet, and a ring. The ring passes through the first eyelet and the second eyelet.
- In accordance with another embodiment, a clasp apparatus includes a clasp element comprising a first end and a second end, a first end tip adapted to fit over the first end, and a second end tip adapted to fit over the second end. In another embodiment, an item of jewelry includes the clasp apparatus and at least one chain having a third end and a fourth end, the third end and fourth end being connected to the clasp element. The item of jewelry may be a necklace or a bracelet, for example.
- The chain used in the present invention to make the necklace and the bracelet of the present invention can be a chain with two rings, one of each rings fixed at one of each ends of the chain. Alternatively, the chain can have a ring fixed at one end of the chain and a clasp fixed at the other end of the chain. As a further alternative, the chain can have two clasps, one of each clasps fixed at one of each ends of the chain.
- A preferred necklace of the present invention employs a plurality of chains where in the chain for use around the back of the neck of the user has a clasp at each end of the chain and the other chains that lay on the chest of the user, employ rings at each end of the chains.
- A preferred chain for the bracelet of the present invention, has a ring at one end of the chain and a clasp at the other end of the chain.
- A preferred bracelet of the present invention employs a plurality of chains wherein one of the chains is shorter in length than the other of the chains and the one chain that is shorter in length than the other chains has a length which tightly binds the chain to the users rest so as to hold the bracelet in place while the other chains loosely fit around the wrist of the user and can dangle and move freely for ornamental purposes.
- One of the clasps of the present invention has an elliptical shape with one quarter of its circumference forming a latch which is hinged to allow for opening and closing of the clasp.
- The necklace of the present invention suitably forms a closed loop with at least three chains, one chain forming a portion of the circumference of the loop while the other two chains are substantially parallel to each other forming the remainder of the circumference of the loop thus the one chain is opposite the other two chains in the circumference of the loop.

FIG. 1 shows anexemplary jewelry chain 100 which includes achain 110, aring 120, and atransverse bar 130. In a well-known manner,ring 120 may be removably connected totransverse bar 130, by slipping one end oftransverse bar 130 throughring 120 and then pushing the other end through the ring, and then positioningtransverse bar 130 in such a manner that it remains engaged withring 120. By this technique,jewelry chain 100 may be used to create a wearable item of jewelry such as a necklace or bracelet. -
FIG. 2 shows components of a necklace in accordance with an embodiment. Afirst jewelry chain 210 includes afirst chain 211, afirst ring 212, and a firsttransverse bar 214. Asecond jewelry chain 220 includes asecond chain 221, asecond ring 222, and a secondtransverse bar 224. FIG. 4 is a flowchart of a method of constructing a necklace in accordance with an embodiment. For purposes of illustration, the method set forth inFIG. 4 describes a method of constructing a necklace having three chains. While the method ofFIG. 4 is described with reference toFIGS. 2 and 3 , it is clear from the Figures that methods similar to that described inFIG. 4 may be used to construct a necklace having more than three chains. - At
step 410, a plurality of chains are selected, wherein the plurality of chains includes at least one first chain having a first ring and a first transverse bar, a second chain having a second ring and a second transverse bar, and a third chain having a third ring and a third transverse bar, wherein the second chain and the third chain have different lengths. For example, with reference toFIG. 2 ,first jewelry chain 210,second jewelry chain 220, andthird jewelry chain 230 may be selected. - At
step 420, the second ring and the third ring are removably connected to the first transverse bar. Atstep 430, the first ring is removably connected to the second transverse bar and to the third transverse bar. Referring toFIG. 3 , for example, firsttransverse bar 214 may be removably connected tosecond ring 222 andthird ring 232. Secondtransverse bar 224 and thirdtransverse bar 234 may be removably connected tofirst ring 212. - In another embodiment, a necklace includes at least one first jewelry chain adapted to fit around a user's neck, and second, third, and fourth jewelry chains of different lengths that are connected to the first chain and hang in a cascading fashion at the front of the user's neck, as in
FIG. 3 . However, other types of connectors may be used to connect the jewelry chains to one another and construct a necklace. Any suitable type of connector may be used. - For example, a ring and a fastener may be used.
FIG. 5 shows components of a necklace in accordance with another embodiment. Afirst jewelry chain 510 includes afirst chain 511, a firstoval ring 512, and a firstoval fastener 514. Asecond jewelry chain 520 includes asecond chain 521, a secondoval ring 522, and a secondoval fastener 524. Athird jewelry chain 530 includes athird chain 531, a thirdoval ring 532, and a thirdoval fastener 534. Afourth jewelry chain 540 includes afourth chain 541, a fourthoval ring 542, and a fourthoval fastener 544. - In accordance with an embodiment,

Specifically, in this example, the user has disassembled the necklace and has created a bracelet by wrappingchain 211 aroundwrist 890 of user'shand 892 and connectingring 212 andtransverse bar 214. The user has also created a bracelet fromchain 241 by connectingring 242 andtransverse bar 244. If a chain is sufficiently long, the chain may be wrapped multiple times around the wrist. The user may create any number of bracelets in this manner. - In another example shown in
FIG. 8B , components of the necklace ofFIGS. 5-6 are worn on a user's wrist. Specifically, in this example, the user has created a bracelet by wrappingchain 511 around the wrist and connectingoval ring 512 andoval fastener 514. The user has also created a bracelet fromchain 541 by connectingoval ring 542 andoval fastener 544. The user may create any number of bracelets in this manner. - Thus, in accordance with an embodiment, a necklace includes at least one first chain having a first ring and a first transverse bar, a second chain having a second ring and a second transverse bar, and a third chain having a third ring and a third transverse bar. The second chain and the third chain have different lengths. The second ring and the third ring are removably connected to the first transverse bar, and the first ring is removably connected to the second transverse bar and to the third transverse bar.
- In accordance with another embodiment, a necklace includes at least one first chain having a first ring and a first fastener, a second chain having a second ring and a second fastener, and a third chain having a third ring and a third fastener. The second chain and the third chain have different lengths. The second ring and the third ring are removably connected to the first fastener, and the first ring is removably connected to the second fastener and to the third fastener.

Atstep 1210, a plurality of chains are selected, including at least one first chain having a first ring and a second ring, a second chain having a third ring and a fourth ring, and a third chain having a fifth ring and a sixth ring, wherein the second chain and the third chain have different lengths. Atstep 1220, a first clasp having a first hook and a second hook and a second clasp having a third hook and a fourth hook are selected. Atstep 1230, the first ring is removably connected to the first hook, and the second ring is removably connected to the third hook. Atstep 1240, the third ring is removably connected to the second hook and the fourth ring is removably connected to the fourth hook. Atstep 1250, the fifth ring is removably connected to the second hook and the sixth ring is removably connected to the fourth hook. -
FIG. 12B is a flowchart of a method of constructing a necklace in accordance with an embodiment. For example, the method ofFIG. 12B may be used to construct a necklace similar to the one shown inFIG. 10B . Atstep 1212, a plurality of chains are selected, including at least one first chain having a first ring and a second ring, a second chain having a third ring and a fourth ring, and a third chain having a fifth ring and a sixth ring, where in the second chain and the third chain have different lengths. Atstep 1222, a first clasp having a first latch and a second clasp having a second latch are selected. Atstep 1232, the first ring is removably connected to the first clasp and the second ring is removably connected to the second clasp. Atstep 1242, the third ring is removably connected to the first clasp and the fourth ring is removably connected to the second clasp. Atstep 1252, the fifth ring is removably connected to the first clasp and the sixth ring is removably connected to the second clasp. - In accordance with another embodiment, a clasp such as those shown in
FIGS. 9C-9E may be used to create a bracelet.FIG. 13 shows a bracelet in accordance with an embodiment.Bracelet 1300 is worn around a person'swrist 1305.Bracelet 1300 includes threechains chain 1343 has round or circular shaped links,chain 1345 has diamond shaped links, etc. Alternatively,chain 1343 may have round or circular shaped stones,chain 1345 may have diamond shaped stones, etc.Chains wrist 1305 and connected to aclasp 1322, which is similar to clasp 990 ofFIG. 9D . Whenlatch mechanism 1536 is open,gap 1534 is open, allowing a user to attach a ring or hoop of a chain, for example. Whenlatch mechanism 1536 is closed,gap 1534 is closed. Whileclasp 1530 is oval-shaped in the illustrative embodiment, in other embodiments,clasp 1530 may be circular, or have a different shape. -
FIG. 15B shows a chain and clasp in accordance with another embodiment.Chain 1550 includesrings Chain 1550 is attached to aclasp 1580.Clasp 1580 has aring portion 1582, which has agap 1584.Clasp 1580 also includes alatch mechanism 1586. Whenlatch mechanism 1586 is open,gap 1584 is open, enabling a user to attach a ring or hoop of a chain, for example. When closed,latch mechanism 1586 coversgap 1584 and also covers a portion ofring portion 1582. Whileclasp 1580 is circular in the illustrative embodiment, in other embodiments clasp 1580 may be oval, or have a different shape. -
FIG. 16 shows a clasp in accordance with another embodiment.Clasp 1600 includes a first element having a firstcurved portion 1610 and afirst eyelet 1612, and a second element having a secondcurved portion 1620 and asecond eyelet 1622.Ring 1635 passes throughfirst eyelet 1612 and throughsecond eyelet 1622. -
Clasp 1600 may be used to construct a necklace or bracelet.FIG. 17 shows a necklace in accordance with an embodiment.Necklace 1700 includesclasp 1600, afirst chain 1710, asecond chain 1720, and athird chain 1730. The two ends offirst chain 1710 are connected respectively to first and secondcurved portions clasp 1600.Second chain 1720 is similarly connected at its ends to first and secondcurved portions clasp 1600.Third chain 1730 is also similarly connected at its ends to first and secondcurved portions clasp 1600. In the illustrative embodiment,second chain 1720 is shorter in length thanfirst chain 1710, andthird chain 1730 is shorter in length thansecond chain 1720. -
FIG. 18A shows components of a clasp mechanism in accordance with another embodiment. The clasp mechanism includes an S-shapedclasp 1800 having a firstcurved portion 1810 and a secondcurved portion 1820. The clasp mechanism also includes a first end tip 1850-A and a second end tip 1850-B. - End tips 1850-A, 1850-B fit on the ends of the
curved portions clasp 1800, as shown inFIG. 18B . For example, a user may use two fingers to place anend tip 1850 onto the end of a selected one of thecurved portions FIG. 18B , end tip 1850-A is placed onto the end ofcurved portion 1810, and end tip 1850-B is placed on the end ofcurved portion 1820. When fitted onto the end of a curved portion of a clasp, an end tip may help to secure a chain or ring on the clasp (and ensure that the chain or ring does not slip off the clasp, for example). -
FIG. 18C shows an end tip in accordance with an embodiment.End tip 1850 includesrim portion 1852 and acover portion 1854. Acavity 1857 adapted to receive the end of a portion of a clasp is defined withincover portion 1854.End tip 1850 may comprise any suitable material such as plastic, foam, cloth, etc. - End tips such as those shown in
FIGS. 18A-18C may be used with any type of clasp apparatus that has a first end and a second end. For example, end tips may be used with a round-shaped clasp, a square or rectangular-shaped clasp, an oval-shaped clasp, or a clasp having another shape. - The clasp mechanism shown in
FIGS. 18A-18B may be used to construct a necklace or bracelet. For example,FIG. 19 shows a necklace in accordance with an embodiment.Necklace 1900 includes clasp 1800 (with end tips 1850-A, 1850-B), afirst chain 1910, a second chain 1920, and athird chain 1930. A first end offirst chain 1910 is connected to firstcurved portion 1810 ofclasp 1800 and a second end offirst chain 1910 is connected to secondcurved portion 1820 ofclasp 1800. A first end of second chain 1920 is connected to firstcurved portion 1810 ofclasp 1800 and a second end of second chain 1920 is connected to secondcurved portion 1820 ofclasp 1800. A first end ofthird chain 1930 is connected to firstcurved portion 1810 ofclasp 1800 and a second end ofthird chain 1930 is connected to secondcurved portion 1820 ofclasp 1800. FIGS. 21A-21C show a clasp in accordance with another embodiment.Clasp 2100 includes first and second halves 2105-A, 2105-B which are connected by ahinge 2160. First and second halves 2105-A, 2105-B are adapted to move onhinge 2160 from an open position to a closed position. Anadjustable latch 2120 is attached to half 2105-B and is adapted to move from an open position to a latched position. When in the latched position,latch 2120 secures the clasp in the closed position. -

Hanging fromchain 2522 ispendant 2550 by means ofring 2552.Ring 2552 is fixed topendant 2550 such a different pendants can be placed onchain 2522 so as to allow the user to create different necklaces of different designs.Jewelry chain 2530 is made up ofchain 2532 havingrings Jewelry chain 2540 haschain 2542 withrings rings Clasp 2508 holdsrings - By employing
jewelry necklace 2502, a plurality of different jewelry chains can be attached to the clasps so as to form a myriad of different necklaces. Additionally, different pendants can be attached to the different chains so as to form a myriad of different necklaces. - Thus, the present invention can be seen as a system for making necklaces and bracelets having an unlimited number of designs by mixing and matching a variety of jewelry chains.

Claims (25)
1. A necklace comprising:
at least one first chain having a first ring and a first fastener; and
a second chain having a second ring and a second fastener;
wherein the second ring is removably connected to the first fastener; and
the first ring is removably connected to the second fastener.
2. The necklace of claim 1 , further comprising:
a third chain having a third ring and a third fastener;
wherein the second chain and the third chain have different lengths;
wherein the second ring and the third ring are removably connected to the first fastener; and
wherein the first ring is removably connected to the second fastener and to the third fastener.
3. The necklace of claim 2 , wherein each of the at least one first chain, the second chain, and the third chain measures between 6 inches and 30 inches.
4. The necklace of claim 2 , further comprising:
a fourth chain having a fourth ring and a fourth fastener;
wherein the second chain, the third chain, and the fourth chain have different lengths;
wherein the fourth ring is removably connected to the first fastener;
wherein the first ring is removably connected to the fourth fastener.
5. The necklace of claim 2 , wherein:
each of the first ring, the second ring, and the third ring is one of an oval-shaped ring and a circular-shaped ring; and
each of the first fastener, the second fastener, and the third fastener is one of an oval shaped-fastener and a circular-shaped fastener.
6. The necklace of claim 2 , wherein the at least one first chain comprises a first section and a second section, wherein the first section includes two rings and the second section includes two fasteners.
7. A necklace comprising:
at least one first chain having a first ring and a first transverse bar;
a second chain having a second ring and a second transverse bar; and
a third chain having a third ring and a third transverse bar;
wherein the second chain and the third chain have different lengths;
wherein the second ring and the third ring are removably connected to the first transverse bar; and
wherein the first ring is removably connected to the second transverse bar and to the third transverse bar.
8. The necklace of claim 7 , wherein each of the at least one first chain, the second chain, and the third chain measures between 6 inches and 30 inches.
9. The necklace of claim 7 , further comprising:
a fourth chain having a fourth ring and a fourth transverse bar;
wherein the second chain, the third chain, and the fourth chain have different lengths;
wherein the fourth ring is removably connected to the first transverse bar;
wherein the first ring is removably connected to the fourth transverse bar.
10. The necklace of claim 7 , wherein:
the first ring is one of a circular-shaped ring and an oval-shaped ring;
the second ring is one of a circular-shaped ring and an oval-shaped ring; and
the third ring is one of a circular-shaped ring and an oval-shaped ring.
11. The necklace of claim 7 , wherein the at least one first chain comprises a first section and a second section, wherein the first section includes two rings and the second section includes two transverse bars.
12. A method of constructing a necklace, the method comprising:
selecting a plurality of chains including at least one first chain having a first ring and a first transverse bar, a second chain having a second ring and a second transverse bar, and a third chain having a third ring and a third transverse bar, wherein the second chain and the third chain have different lengths;
removably connecting the second ring and the third ring to the first transverse bar; and
removably connecting the first ring to the second transverse bar and to the third transverse bar.
13. The method of claim 12 , wherein each of the at least one first chain, the second chain, and the third chain measures between 6 inches and 30 inches.
14. The method of claim 12 , further comprising:
selecting a fourth chain having a fourth ring and a fourth transverse bar;
removably connecting the fourth ring to the first transverse bar; and
removably connecting the first ring to the fourth transverse bar;
wherein the second chain, the third chain, and the fourth chain have different lengths.
15. The method of claim 12 , wherein:
the first ring is one of a circular-shaped ring and an oval-shaped ring;
the second ring is one of a circular-shaped ring and an oval-shaped ring; and
the third ring is one of a circular-shaped ring and an oval-shaped ring.
16. A necklace comprising:
a first clasp including a first oval shaped hook and a second oval shaped hook;
a second clasp including a third oval shaped hook and a fourth oval shaped hook;
a first chain connected to the first oval shaped hook;
a second chain connected to the third oval shaped hook;
a third chain having a first length connected to the second oval shaped hook and the fourth oval shaped hook;
a fourth chain having a second length connected to the second oval shaped hook and the fourth oval shaped hook; and
a fifth chain having a third length connected to the second oval shaped hook and the fourth oval shaped hook.
17. The necklace of claim 16 , further comprising:
a third clasp, wherein the first chain and the second chain are connected to the third clasp.
18. The necklace of claim 16 , wherein:
the first clasp includes the first oval shaped hook, the second oval shaped hook, and one or more first beads disposed between the first oval shaped hook and the second oval shaped hook; and
the second clasp includes the third oval shaped hook, the fourth oval shaped hook, and one or more second beads disposed between the third oval shaped hook and the fourth oval shaped hook.
19. A bracelet comprising:
a clasp having a ring and a closing mechanism, wherein the ring is one of circular shaped and oval shaped; and
one or more chains connected to the clasp.
20. A method of constructing a necklace, the method comprising:
selecting a plurality of chains including at least one first chain having a first ring and a second ring, and a second chain having a third ring and a fourth ring, and a third chain having a fifth ring and a sixth ring, wherein the second chain and the third chain have different lengths;
selecting a first clasp having a first hook and a second hook and a second clasp having a third hook and a fourth hook;
removably connecting the first ring to the first hook, and the second ring to the third hook;
removably connecting the third ring to the second hook and the fourth ring to the fourth hook; and
removably connecting the fifth ring to the second hook and the sixth ring to the fourth hook.
21. A necklace comprising:
a first clasp including a first oval shaped hook and a second oval shaped hook;
a second clasp including a third oval shaped hook and a fourth oval shaped hook;
a first chain connected permanently to the first oval shaped hook and to the third oval shaped hook;
a second chain having a first length connected to the second oval shaped hook and the fourth oval shaped hook;
a third chain having a second length connected to the second oval shaped hook and the fourth oval shaped hook; and
a pendant connected to the third chain.
22. A clasp comprising:
a first element comprising a first curved portion and a first eyelet;
a second element comprising a second curved portion and a second eyelet; and
a ring;
wherein the ring passes through the first eyelet and the second eyelet.
23. A clasp apparatus comprising:
a clasp element comprising a first end and a second end;
a first end tip adapted to fit over the first end; and
a second end tip adapted to fit over the second end.
24. An item of jewelry comprising:
the clasp apparatus of claim 23 ; and
at least one chain having a third end and a fourth end, the third end and fourth end being connected to the clasp element.
25. The item of jewelry of claim 24 , wherein the item of jewelry comprises one of a necklace and a bracelet.
