This invention relates to improvements in hand luggage and has as an object to provide improved means for mounting a garment supporting structure within a hand luggage case.

As is well known, hand luggage cases are now provided with garment supporting structures which are arranged to have the garments to be carried so draped thereon that even garments of considerably greater length than the longest dimension of the case may be neatly carried without danger ci wrinkling.

In the ladies type of case to which this invention is particularly directed, these garment supporting structures are generally equipped with zindividual garment hangers over whichrthe garments are first folded, and for convenience inV packing, it is desirable to so mount the garment supporting structure that the individual hangers may be supported in a position overhanging the Vfront of the case when open.

To afford ready access to the space underneath the garment supporting structure, it is also desirable that the supporting structure be so mounted as to permit the same to be swung to an upright position within the cover when the case is open.Y

l-Ieretofore, these different positions of the garment supporting structures have been obtained through the provision of a double hinged arrangement in which supporting arms are hinged to the garment supporting frame, and which, when the frame is removed from the case, hang loosely from the supporting structure, getting in the Way and making handling cf the garments diflicult.V

This double hinged arrangement is thus objec- `ticnable, and it is therefore an object of this invention to provide simplified means for mounting a garment supporting structure which permits the same to be moved to the various positions required without entailingV the use for a double `hinged arrangement as heretofore employed'.

Another object of this invention is to provide a garment supporting structure which is readily detachable from the luggage case and which when removed therefrom is of compact unitary construction free from objectionable hingedly attached'supporting parts which interfere with the removal and placement of garments thereon,

Another object of this invention is to improve the construction of garment supporting structures particularly that type adapted for ladies garments.

With the above and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, this inlvention resides in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts substantially Vas companying drawings in which like numerals inhereinafter described and more particularly dened by the appended claims, it being understood that such changes in the precise embodiment of the herein disclosed invention may be made as come within the scope of the claims.

The accompanying drawings illustrate one complete example of the physical embodiment of the invention constructed according to the best mode so far devised for the practical application of the principles thereof, and in which:

Referring now more particularly to the ac- Vside adapted to be closed by a cover l0 hingedly 40 attached to the rear wall l and arranged to swing from a closed position to an upright open position, as shown.

-As is customary, a handle H is attached to the frontwall 6 for carrying the case with its 45 hinged edge lowermost, and latch means I2 are provided for holding the cover cl-osed.

The main section 5 provides space for the reception of various articles and if desired its interior may be divided into compartments by a 5 partition i3.

To carry garments such as dresses and the like, agarment supporting structure I4 is arranged y across the open side of the main section 5. This Y garment supporting structure comprises two spaced parallel side arms I rigidly connected at one end by a garment supporting bar I6 and at its opposite end by a transverse bar I1. The transverse bar I1 has its ends attached to sub- 5 stantially channel shaped trolley sections I8 permanently fixed to the adjacent ends of the side arms I5. Hinged to the ends of the trolley sections I8 opposite the ends to which the transverse bar I1 is iixed, are trolley extensions I9, the 10 free ends of which are connected by a transverse bar 20 which is similar to the bar I1.

The hinged connection 2| between the trolley sections I8 and the trolley extensions I 8 allow the extensions I9 to be swung from positions forming extensions of the trolley sections as shown in Figure l to positions closed down onto the trolley sections as shown in Figure 2.

The trolley sections I8 are adapted to freely slidably and detachably carry individual garment hangers 22. These individual garment hangers may be in the form of flat strips having supporting hooks 23 fixed to their ends for engagement over the inner flanges of the trolley sections I8 or the trolley extensions I9. In this manner the individual garment hangers are freely slidable along the trolley sections and from the sections I8 onto the extensions I9 to facilitate packing and to allow the individual hangers to assume positions on the trolley determined by the thickness SOiof the garments carried thereby.

` It is to be observed that the inner flanges of the trolley extensions I9 are narrower than the inner flanges of the sections I8 so that when the extensions are swung down over the trolley secgftions I8, space will be left to accommodate the thickness of the hooks 23.

A pair of garment retaining straps 24 are stretched across the space between the side arms I5 to support the garments against dropping Ydown into the main section when the garment supporting structure is in its position disposed flatwise over the open side thereof. One end 25 of each garment retaining strap is readily detachably connected with its respective side arm I5 to wig-facilitate packing and unpacking.

The garment supporting structure is removably mounted in the main section 5 and when in place may be swung about either of two spaced parallel axes, one of which is adjacent to and 'fiparallel with the hinged connection between the main section and the cover, and the other of which is adjacent to the front wall 6. For this purpose, the end walls 8 have bifurcated supporting members 26 and 21 permanently attached ::thereto, the former being mounted adjacent the front wall 6 and the latter adjacent the rear wall 1, and the side arms I5 have buttons 28 and 29 xed thereto for interengagement with the bifurcated members 26 and 21, respectively.

I'o preclude improper or reversed replacement of the garment supporting structure in the case after it has been removed, the buttons 28 are mounted on the inside of the side arms I5 while the buttons 29 are on the outside, and the bifurcated supporting members 26 and 21 are correspondingly spaced from the end walls 8.

When all of the buttons rest on the bottoms or inner ends of the bifurcations in the supporting members 26 and 21, the garment supporting structure, which is substantially co-extensive with the open side of the section, is held in a position disposed above the open side of the main section with the hangers adjacent the rear wall. It is held in this position when the case is closed by 'i'Y-holding fingers or clips 32 carried by the cover I0 and arranged to engage down over the side arms I5 of the garment supporting structure.

With the case open, as shown in Figure 1, the

garment supporting structure may be swung about either of the two axes defined. It may be 5 swung to an upright position substantially above the front wall 6 of the case with the hangers uppermost to facilitate packing in which position it is held by the engagement of inturned ears or lugs 33 formed by bending the adjacent ends of 10 the side arms I5 inwardly, with edges 34 of the intermediate portions 35 of the bifurcated supporting members 26.

It is to be observed that in swinging against the edges 34, the ngers or lugs 33 also engage 15 under ledges 36 which form the bottoms or closed ends of the bifurcated portions of the supporting members, so that in this upright position, the garment supporting structure cannot be detached from the supporting members 26. 20

However, when in its horizontal position disposed atwise over the open side of the main section, the buttons 28 are readily detachable from the bifurcations of the supporting members 26 to allow the garment supporting structure to be 25 swung about its other axis deiined by the engagement of the buttons 29 in the bifurcations of the supporting members 21.

As best shown in Figure 3, the supporting members 21 have their bifurcated end'portions 30 31 projecting outwardly of the open side of the section 5 and the buttons 29 are carried by the trolley extensions I3 to so locate the axis about which the garment supporting structure swings that when raised to its upright position, as shown 35 in dotted lines in Figure 2, the lower end of the garment supporting structure, which is the end mounting the hangers, will be outwardly of the cover sufficiently far to insure the same remaining in its inclined position. 40

This locates the axis about which the garment supporting structure swings in such position with respect to the garment supporting structure that when the case is open and the garment supporting structure is swung to its raised position, as 45 shown to the right in Figure 2, the garment supporting structure will rest in an inclined position substantially within the cover, thus allowing ready access to garments and other articles within the main section 5. 50

As noted hereinbefore, the trolley extensions I9 swing down over the trolley sections I8 to hold the garment hangers in place. When the garment supporting structure is in its carrying position, that is, disposed flatwise across the 55 open side of the main section, the trolley extensions I9 are held against movement away from the trolley sections I8 by lugs 38 fixed to the supporting members 21 and projecting inwardly to engage the trolley extensions I9 as clearly 60 shown in Figure 3. Consequently, no lother means need be provided for holding the trolley extensions in their garment hanger securing positions.

As best shown in Figure 5, the garment sup- 65 porting structure is provided with a hook 39 pivoted to the transverse bar I1 which permits the entire garment supporting structure with the garments thereon, when removed from the case, to be hung in a closet or where desired.

Particular attention is directed to the fact that through the provision Yof the novel means for mounting the garment supporting structure in the case, when it is removed from the case and hung up as customary, there are no loose parts such as hingedly attached supporting arms to get tangled up with the garments and make it difficult to remove the same.

From the foregoing description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, it will be readily apparent to those skilled inthe art to which this invention, appertains, that this invention provides a simplied and exceptionally convenient manner of mounting the garment z*supporting structure in hand luggage cases, and

that by the elimination of the heretofore necessary supporting arms hinged to the structure, not only has the handling of the supporting structure with garments thereon and Aremoved from the case been facilitated, but also the application and removal of the supporting structure from the case has been made considerably easier.

What I claim as my invention is:

1. In a hand luggage case having hingedly oonnected sections, a garment supporting structure having means to hold garments longer than any dimension of the case without wrinkling, supporting means for said structure carried by one section of the case near opposite edges of its open side, and means on the garment supporting structure near opposite ends thereof detachably engageable with said supporting means so as to allow swinging movement of the garment supporting structure about either of two axes one near each end thereof to and from upright positions above either of said opposite edges of the open side. Y

2. In a hand luggage case, a main section having an open side and a hinged cover to close the vopen side, a garment supporting structure substantially'co-extensive with the open side of the main section and having means on which garments longer than any dimension of the case may be neatly arranged, and means for mounting the garment supporting structure in said main section, said means comprising bifurcated supporting members fixed in the main section and buttons carried by the garment supporting structure so located as to hold the garment sup-` porting structure in a position disposed atwise over the open side of the main section and allowingswinging movement of said structure about either of two axes adjacent said opposite edges of the open side of the main section.

3. In a hand luggage case, a main section having an open side and a hinged cover to close the open side of the main section, a garment supporting structure comprisingV a rigid frame cornposedof connected side arms and garment supporting means extending between said side arms and on which garments to be carried may be neatly arranged, said frame being substantially coextensive with the open side of the main section, and supporting means mounted in said main section adjacent opposite edges of the open side of said main section for supporting the frame in a position disposed flatwise across the open side of the main section and having hinged detachable connection with opposite end portions of the side arms of the frame to enable swinging movement of the frame about either of two axes, one located adjacent each of the opposite edges of said open side of the main section.

4. In a. hand luggage case, a main section, a cover to close the main section, said cover being hingedly attached to one wall of the main section to swing to and from an open position substantially at right angles to the main section, a garment supporting structure upon which garments longer than any dimension of the case may be neatly arranged to be supported wholly thereon, and means for mounting said structure in the main section for swinging movement about either of two parallel axes, one of which is near one end of the supporting structure and parallel to and adjacent the hinged connection of the cover and main section, and the other of which is located near the opposite end of the supporting structure and adjacent the opposite side of the main section, said means comprising supporting members mounted in the corners of the main section, and means on each corner portion of said garment supporting structure having a hinged readily detachable connection with said supporting members.

5. In a hand luggage case having a main section and a cover hinged to one wallv thereof to close the open side of themain section, a rigid garment supporting structure having means on which garments to be carried may be neatly arranged to be supported solely by said structure, and means for detachably and pivotally mounting said structure in the main section for swinging movement about either of two parallel axes, one of which is near onel end of the supporting structure and adjacent to and parallel with the hinged connection between the cover and main section, and the other of which is near the other end of the supporting structure and adjacent the opposite wall of the main section, said 30 means comprising supporting members mounted within the main section adjacent said axes about which the garment supporting structure swings, and means on said garment supporting structure near its opposite ends having detachable pivotal V engagement with said supporting members.

6. In a hand luggage case, complementary hingedly connected sections, one of said sections having an open substantially rectangular side dened by four connected walls, a garment sup- 40, porting structure havingv means on which garments to be carried may be draped so as to be supported entirely on said structure, said garment supporting structure being substantially co-extensive with the open side of said section, and means for mounting said garment supporting structure for swinging movement about either of two parallel axes disposed adjacent opposite two of said walls and near opposite ends of the garment supporting structure, said means comprising supporting members permanently mounted in said section with portions thereof arranged adjacent said opposite two walls,-and means on opposite end portions of the garment supporting structure having pivotal disengageable connection with said supporting members.

7. In av hand luggage case, complementary hingedly connected sections, one of which has an open side defined by four connected walls, a garment supporting structure having means on Vwhich garments to be carried may be draped to be supported in neat arrangement on said structure, and means for mounting said structure in a position disposed atwise over the open side of said section and for swinging movement about either of two parallel axes adjacent opposite two of said walls and near opposite ends of said garment supporting structure, said means comprising supporting members attached to certain of said walls and having parts adjacent the axes k about which the garment supporting structure swings, and cooperating members on opposite end portions of the supporting structure inter-engageable with and detachable from said parts of the supporting members.

8. In a hand luggage" case, complementary hingedly connected sections, one of which has an open side defined by four connected walls, a garment supporting structure Ihaving means on g which garments to be carried may be draped to be supported in neat arrangement on said structure, and means for mounting said structure in a position disposed flatwis-e over the open side of said section and for swinging movement about juf-Seither of two parallel axes adjacent opposite two of said walls and near opposite ends of the garment supporting structure, said means comprising supporting members attached to certain of said walls and having parts adjacent the axes 15".'about which the garment supporting structure swings, and cooperating members on opposite end portions of the supporting structure interengageable with and detachable from said parts of the supporting' members, said supporting memzofbers and th-e supporting structure carried cooperating members being so disposed with respect to each other as to preclude improper assembly of the garment supporting structure with said case section.

9. In a hand luggage case having complementary hingedly connected sections, one of which has an open side dened by rigid connected walls, a garment supporting structure substantially co-eXtensive with the open side of said 30 "section and having means upon which garments to be carried may be neatly arranged to be supported solely on said structure, and sets of complementary interengaging but, readily separable means permanently fixed to opposite end por- 35 'tions of the garment supporting structure and certain of said rigid walls of said section removably mounting the garment supporting structure in said section for swinging movement about either of two spaced parallel axes, one adjacent 40 one end of the garment supporting structure and one of said rigid walls, andthe other adjacent the opposite end of the garment supporting structure and the opposite rigid wall.

10. In a hand luggage case having comple- 45 mentary hingedly connected sections, one of which has an open side dened by rigid connected walls, a garment supporting structure substantially co-extensve with the open side of said section and having means upon which garments 50 -to be carri-ed may be neatly arranged to be supported solely on said structure, and sets of complementary interengaging but readily separable means permanently fixed to the garment supporting structure near opposite ends thereof and 55 to certain of said rigid walls of said section for removably mounting the garment supporting structure in said section for swinging movement about either of two spacedrparallel axes, one adjacent one end of the garment supporting strucf ture'and one of said rigid walls, and the other adjacent the opposite end of the garment supporting structure and the opposite rigid wall, said interengaging means of the different sets being so disposed with respect to each other as to require 65 assembly of the garment supporting structure with the case section in but one predetermined manner.

11. In a hand luggage case having complementary hingedly connected sections, one of 70 which has an open side defined by rigid connected walls, a garment supporting structure having means on which garments to be carried may be draped so that said garments are supported entirely on said structure, and interengaging 75 readily detachable means permanently carried by the garment supporting structure near opposite ends thereof and by certain of the rigid walls for mounting the garment supporting structure for swinging movement about either of two parallel spaced axes, one of which is near one end of the 5 garment supporting structure and adjacent one rigid wall and the other near the opposite end of the garment supporting structure and adjacent the opposite rigid wall of said section, and said means comprising bifurcated members and buttons engageable in and adapted to rest on the inner ends of the slots of said bifurcated members.

12. In a, hand luggage case having complementary hingedly connected sections, one of which has rigid front and rear walls, a garment supporting structure including individual hangers and means to support the individual hangers, supporting means for the garment supporting structure adjacent said front and rear walls, means carried by the garment supporting structure near opposite ends thereof having pivotal and detachable connection with said supporting means whereby the garment supporting structure may be swung about either of two axes one near one end of the garment supporting structure and one near the other end thereof from a position disposed substantially flatwise across the open side of said section with its hangers near the rear Wall to either of two upright positions in one of which the garment supporting structure is disposed above the rear wall of said section with the individual garment hangers lowermost and in the other of which the garment supporting structure is disposed in an upright position above the front wall with the individual garment hangers uppermost and so located that garments draped thereover may hang down past the front Wall.

13. In a hand luggage case having complementary hingedly connected sections, one of which has rigid front and rear walls, a garment supporting structure including individual hangers and means to support` the individual hangers, supporting means for the garment supporting structure adjacent said front and rear walls, means carried by the garment supporting structure near opposite ends thereof having pivotal and detachable connection with said supporting means whereby the garment supporting structure may be swung about either of two axes one near one end of the garment supporting structure and the other near the opposite end thereof from a position disposed substantially flatwise across the open side of said section with its hangers near the rear wall to either of two upright positions in one of which the garment supporting structure is disposed above the rear wall of said section with the individual garment hangers lowermost and in the other of which the garment supporting structure is disposed in an upright position above the front wall with the individual garment hangers uppermost and so located that garments draped thereover may hang down past the front wall, and means to prevent detachment of the garment supporting structure from the supporting means adjacent the front wall when said garment supporting structure is in its last named upright position.

14. In a, hand luggage case having hingedly connected sections, one of which has an open substantially rectangular side defined by four rigid connected walls opposite two of which are the front and rear walls when the case is open, a garment supporting structure including a plurality of individual hangers adapted to have garments draped thereon and means to support the individual hangers near one end of the garment supporting structure, bifurcated supporting members iixed in said section adjacent its front and rear walls, buttons carried by the supporting structure near opposite ends thereof and detachably and pivotally engageable in the bifurcations of said supporting members whereby said gar- Y ment supporting structure is supported in a posi- Vtion disposed latwise over the open side of said section with its hangers near the rear wall and from which positionthe supporting structure is readily swingable about either of two axes, one of which is'located near one end of the garment supporting structure and adjacent the rear wall and the other near the opposite end of the garment supporting structure and adjacent the front wall, movement of the garment supporting structure about the first designated axis disposing the garment supporting structure above the rear wall with its hangers lowermost and movement of the garment supporting structure about the second designated axis disposing the garment supporting structure above the front wall with its individual hangers uppermost so that garments draped thereover may hang down past the front wall.

15. In a hand luggage case, a main section having two parallel walls which together with other walls define an open side of the main section, a garment supporting structure substantially coextensive with the open side of the main section and including individual hangers and means to mount the individual hangers at one end of the garment supporting structure, supporting members permanently xed to certain of the walls of the main section, said supporting members being divided into two sets, one adjacent one of said designated spaced parallel walls and the other adjacent the other of said spaced parallel walls, cooperating members carried by the garment supporting structure near opposite ends thereof and engageable with said sets of supporting members to mount the garment supporting structure flat- Wise over the open side of the main section with the individualV hangers located adjacent one of said spaced parallel walls, said cooperating members having readily detachable and pivotal connection with said sets of supporting members so that the garment supporting structure may be swung about either of two spaced parallel axes near opposite ends of the garment supporting structure and adjacent said parallel spaced walls, the individual hangers being lowermost when the garment supporting structure is swung about one axis and being uppermost to allow garments draped thereon to hang down past the adjacent one of said spaced parallel walls when the garment supporting structure is swung about the other of said axes.

16. In a hand luggage case, a main section having two parallel walls which together with other walls deiine an open side of the main section, a garment supporting structure substantially coextensive with the open side of the main section and including individual hangers and means to) mount the individual hangers at one end of the garment supporting structure, supporting members permanently xed to certain of the walls of the main section, said supporting members being divided into two sets, one adjacent one of said designated spaced parallel walls and the other adjacent the other of said spaced parallel walls, co'- operating members carried by the garment supporting structure near opposite ends thereof and engageable with said sets of supporting members to mount the garment supporting structure flatwise over the open side of the main section with the individual hangers located adjacent one of said spaced parallel walls, said cooperating members having readily detachable and pivotal con-` 5 nection with said sets of supporting members so that the garment supporting structure may be swung about either of two spaced parallel axes one near each of the opposite ends of the garment supporting structure and adjacent each of said 10 parallel spaced walls, the individual hangers being lowermost when the garment supporting structure is swung about one axis and being uppermost to allow garments draped thereon to hang down past the adjacent one of said spaced parallell walls when the garment supporting structure is swung about the other of said axes, and means to prevent detachment of the garment supporting structure from the set of supporting members on which it rests when the garment supporting 20 structure is in the last designated upright position.

17. In a hand luggage case, a main section having two parallel walls which together with other walls dene an open side of the main section, 25 a garment supporting structure substantially coextensive with the open side of the main section and including individual hangers and means to mount the individual hangers at one end of the garment supporting structure, supporting mem- 30 bers permanently iixed to certain of the walls of the main section, said supporting members being divided into two sets, one adjacent one of said designated spaced parallel walls and the other adjacent the other of said spaced parallel walls, cooperating members carried by the gar- Yment supporting structure and engageable with said sets of supporting members to mount the garment supporting structure atwise over the open side of the main section with the individual 40 hangers located adjacent one of said spaced parallel walls, said cooperating members having readily detachable and pivotal connection with said sets of supporting members so that the garment supporting structure may be swung about either of two spaced parallel axes adjacent said parallel spaced walls, the individual hangers being lowermost when the garment supporting structure is swung about one axis and being uppermost to allow garments draped thereon to hang down past the adjacent one of said spaced parallel walls when the garment supporting structure is swung about the other of said axes, and means tol limit swinging movement of the garment supporting structure about said last named axis and hold the garment supporting structure in said last designated upright position.

18. In a hand luggage case, a main section having two parallel walls which together with other walls define an open side of the main section, a garment supporting structure substantially coextensive with the open side of the main section and including individual hangers and means to mount the individual hangers 'at one end of the garment supporting structure, supporting members permanently fixed to certain of the walls of the main section, said supporting members being divided into two sets, one adjacent one of said designated spaced parallel walls and the other adjacent the other of said spaced parallel walls, cooperating members carried by the garment supporting structure and engageable with said sets of supporting members toy mount the garment supiporting structure flatwise over the open side of the main section with the individual hangers located adjacent one of said spaced parallel walls, said cooperating members having readily detachable and pivotal connection with said sets of supporting members so that the garment supporting structure may be swung about either of two spaced parallel axes adjacent said parallel spaced Walls, the individual hangers being lowermost when the garment supporting structure is swung about one axis and being uppermost to allow garments draped thereon to hang down past the adjacent one of said spaced parallel walls when the garment supporting structure is swung about the other of said axes, means to limit swinging movement of the garment sup-porting structure about said last named axis and hold the garment supporting structure in said last designated upright position, and means to prevent removal of the garment supporting structure from the main section when in said last designated upright position.

19. In a hand luggage case, a main section having a substantially rectangular open side defined by four rigid connected walls, a garment supporting structure .substantially co-extensive with the open side of the main section and including side arms, individual garment hangers, means to mount the individual garment hangers from one end of the side arms and a transverse garment supporting bar connecting the other ends of the side arms, bifureated supporting members carried by certain walls of the main section adjacent the corners of the main section, buttons at oppos ite ends of the side arms engageable with the bifurcated supporting members to mount the garment supporting structure in a position disposed iiatwise across the open side of the main section from which it is swingable to either of two upright positions disposed substantially aboveV either of two opposite walls of the main section, in one of said upright positions the garment hangers being lowermost and in the other of said upright positions the garment hangers being uppermost so that garments draped thereover may hang down across the wall above which the garment supporting structure is then disposed.

20. In a hand luggage caseJ a main section having a substantially,rectangular open side dened by four rigid connected walls, a garment supporting structure substantially co-extensive with the open side of the main section and including side arms, individual garment hangers, means to mount the individual garment hangers from one end of the side arms and a transverse garment supporting bar connecting the other ends of the side arms, bifurcated supporting members carried by certain walls of the main section adjacent the corners of the main section, buttons at opposite ends of the side arms engageable with the bifurcated supporting members to mount the garment supporting structure in a position disposed ilatwise across the open side of the main section-from which it is swingable to either of two upright positions disposed substantially above either of two opposite walls of the main section,

in one of said upright positions the garment hangers being lowermost and in the other of said upright positions the garment hangers being uppermost so that garments draped thereover may hang down across the Wall above which the gar- -ment supporting structure is then disposed, said buttons at one end of the side arms being inside the arms and at the other ends thereof being outside the arms so that improper assembly of the garment supporting structure with the case section is precluded.

2l. A garment supporting structure for hand luggage cases comprising a pair of spaced par-` allel side arms, a garment supporting bar connecting the side arms at one end, transverse hanger trolleys xed to the opposite ends of the side arms, said hanger trolleys having their longitudinal dimensions substantially perpendicular to the plane of the supporting structure, means to rigidly connect said last named ends of the side arms, trolley extensions hinged to the trolleys for movement between positions disposed over the trolleys and forming longitudinal extensions thereof, individual hangers having free sliding removable engagement with the trolleys and trolley extensions and adapted to be held in place on the trolleys by the trolley extensions when said extensions are swung down over the trolleys, and supporting buttons by which the garment supporting structure is detachably and pivotally mounted in a hand luggage case, said supporting buttons being arranged in pairs with one pair located at each'end of the side arms, and those of one pair being on the inside of the side arms, and those of the other lpair being on the outside of the side arms.

22. In a hand luggage case, a main section having an open side and a hinged cover to close the open side of the main section, a garment supporting structure adapted to have garments to be carried neatly arranged thereon and having opposite side edges adapted to be disposed adjacent to opposite side walls of the main section, and supporting means for said garment supporting structure comprising parts carried by the main section near opposite ends of said opposite side walls, and cooperating means on said opposite edges of the garment supporting structure near the ends thereof engageable with said main section carried means for supporting the garment supporting structure in a position disposed atwise across the open side of the main section and for swinging movement about either of two axes one located near each end of the garment supporting structure.
