  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  • It will be appreciated that for simplicity and clarity of illustration, where appropriate, reference numerals have been repeated among the different figures to indicate corresponding or analogous elements. In addition, numerous specific details are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding of the embodiments described herein. However, it will be understood by those of ordinary skill in the art that the embodiment described herein can be practiced without these specific details. In other instances, methods, procedures and components have not been described in detail so as not to obscure the related relevant feature being described. Also, the description is not to be considered as limiting the scope of the embodiments described herein. The drawings are not necessarily to scale and the proportions of certain parts have been exaggerated to better illustrate details and features of the present disclosure.
  • Several definitions that apply throughout this disclosure will now be presented.
  • The term “coupled” is defined as connected, whether directly or indirectly through intervening components, and is not necessarily limited to physical connections. The connection can be such that the objects are permanently connected or releasably connected. The term “substantially” is defined to be essentially conforming to the particular dimension, shape or other word that substantially modifies, such that the component need not be exact. For example, substantially cylindrical means that the object resembles a cylinder, but can have one or more deviations from a true cylinder. The term “comprising,” when utilized, means “including, but not necessarily limited to”; it specifically indicates open-ended inclusion or membership in the so-described combination, group, series and the like.
  • The present disclosure is in relation to a box for storing goods, the box being foldable.
  • FIG. 1 illustrates an embodiment of a box includes a cabinet 100 and a cover 200. The cabinet includes a base 10, two first folding boards 20 and two second folding boards 30.
  • FIG. 2 illustrates that the base 10 includes a substantially rectangular base plate 1000, a first mounting plate 1010 extending from each of two first sides 101 of the base plate 1000, and a second mounting plate 1020 extending from each of two second sides 102 of the base plate 1000. Each of the first mounting plate 1010 and the second mounting plate 1020 defines a plurality of internal pivoting slots 1030. A pivoting shaft 1031 is set between two opposite sides of each pivoting slot 1030. Each second mounting plate 1020 includes two L-shaped depressed portions 1021 respectively defined in the upper portion of two ends of the second mounting plate 1020. The base 10 includes an L-shaped mounting leg 1040 extending downwardly at each of four bottom corners of the base plate 1000.
  • FIG. 3 illustrates the two first folding boards 20 and the two second folding boards 30 of the cabinet 100. Referring also to FIG. 6, each first folding board 20 defines a recessed portion 120 in a middle of a top portion of each first folding board 20, and two notches 124 in two ends of the top portion. Two latch members 122 protrude from an inside wall of each recessed portion 120. A wedged block 126 is formed under the notches 124 at two opposite sides of the first folding board 20. A protrusion 128 extends from an outside of each wedged block 126. Each second folding board 30 includes two flanges 310 substantially perpendicularly formed at two opposite ends thereof. Two ditches 130 are respectively defined in the two ends of a top portion of each second folding board 30 and each extends to flanges 310. Two openings 132 are vertically defined in each flange 310. Two resilient hooks 134 extend from an inside surface of each second folding board 30 and face the upper openings 132. A plurality of spaced claws 1230 extend downwardly from bottom edges of the first folding board 20 and the second folding board 30. Each claw 1230 includes a C-shaped bent portion 1231 which can be pivotally coupled to the pivoting shaft 1031.
  • FIG. 4 illustrates that the cover 200 includes a rectangular main panel 210 and two first panels 220 extending upward from middle portions of two first sides of the main panel 210, and two second panels 230 extending upward from middle portions of two second sides of the main panel 210. The first sides are perpendicular to the second sides. The first panels 220 and the second panels 230 are parallel to the main panel 210. A mounting portion 240 is formed at each of four corners of the main panel 210. An engaging portion 221 declines from a middle of each first panel 220. The engaging portion 221 defines two openings 223. Each opening 223 includes a joint tab 225 extending inward from a bottom of the opening 223.
  • Referring to FIG. 5 and FIG. 6, in assembly, the claws 1230 of the first folding boards 20 are inserted in the pivoting slots 1030 of the first mounting plates 1010 of the base 10, and the bent portions 1231 are pivotally connected to the pivoting shafts 1031, to pivotably connect the first folding boards 20 to the first mounting plates 1010 of the base 10. The claws 1230 of the second folding boards 30 are inserted in the pivoting slots 1030 of the second mounting plates 1020 of the base 10, and the bent portions 1231 are pivotally connected to the pivoting shafts 1031, to pivotably connect the second folding boards 30 to the second mounting plates 1020 of the base 10. At the same time, the wedged blocks 126 of the second folding boards 20 slide along the flanges 310 of the second folding boards 30 and deform the resilient hooks 134 of the second folding boards 30, until the protrusions 128 of the first folding boards 20 are received in the openings 132 of the second folding boards 30. The protrusions 128 of the first folding boards 20 are blocked by the resilient hooks 134, to fix the first folding boards 20 to the second folding boards 30. The notches 124 of the two first folding boards 20 couple to the ditches 130 of the two second folding boards 30 to form four mounting pits 140 at the four upper corners of the cabinet 100 (see FIG. 1). Thus, the base 10, the first folding boards 20, and the second folding boards 30 combine to form the cabinet 100.
  • The cover 200 is located above the cabinet 100, and the mounting portions 240 at the four corners of the cover 200 are received in the four mounting pits 140 of the cabinet 100. The first panels 220 are located at the top portions of the first folding boards 20. The second panels 230 are located at the top portions of the second folding boards 30. The two openings 223 of the engaging portions 221 face the two latch members 122 of the first folding boards 20. The joint tabs 225 of the openings 223 are locked to the bottoms of the latch members 122, to lock the first panels 220 to the first folding boards 20. Thereby, the cover 200 is fixed to the cabinet 100 to form the box.
  • FIG. 7 illustrates two cabinets 1000 stacked vertically. The mounting legs 1040 at the bottom of an upper cabinet 100 are received in the mounting portions 240 at the top portion of a lower cabinet 100. The two cabinets 100 are in a stacked configuration result. A cover 200 is fixed to the upper cabinet 100.
  • FIG. 8 illustrates the cabinet 100 in a folded state. The two first folding boards 20 are pushed inwardly to slidably release the wedged blocks 126 from the resilient hooks 134. At the same time, the protrusions 128 disengage from the openings 132. The two first folding boards 20 are rotated toward and abut the base plate 1000 of the base 10, and then the two second folding boards 30 are rotated toward the first folding boards 20 and abut against the two first folding boards 20. The cabinet 100 is in a folded configuration.
  • The box can be opened for storing goods and when not in use can be folded for saving space.
  • It is to be understood, however, that even though numerous characteristics and advantages of the embodiments have been set forth in the foregoing description, together with details of the structure and function of the embodiments, the disclosure is illustrative only, and changes may be made in detail, especially in the matters of shape, size, and arrangement of parts within the principles of the disclosure to the full extent indicated by the broad general meaning of the terms in which the appended claims are expressed.
