Description

    CLAIM OF PRIORITY
  • This patent application claims priority under 35 USC 119 (e) (1) from U.S. Provisional Patent Application Ser. No. 61/685,557 filed Mar. 20, 2012, of common inventorship herewith entitled, “Boot Leg Fashion.”
  • FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention pertains to the field of leg fashion, and more specifically to the field of shoe accessories.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • The prior art has put forth several designs for boot leggings. Among these are:
  • U.S. Pat. No. 258,996 to Mary E. Cory describes useful improvements in women and children's leggings relating to wearing apparel. The leggings are fabricated of light waterproof material commonly known as gossamer, intended as protection against lower limbs against moisture in rainy weather while walking. Each legging comprises an elastic garter encircling a wearer's leg below one's knee to hold the legging in place. The legging flares at the bottom to fit around the foot in step and contains a strap that passes beneath a shoe at one's instep arch to hold the lower part of the legging in place. The legging is open at one side a little toward the front and provided with a row of buttons or other fastening to facilitate donning or removing the legging. A flap is provided thereof to prevent moisture entering through the interstices of the opening containing fasteners.
  • U.S. Pat. No. 562,784 to Charles Fisher describes an improved legging for gentlemen's wear adapted to be worn over the trousers to serve as a protection for the trousers in wet or stormy weather and as a covering to afford greater warmth to the lower limbs of the wearer in cold weather. The legging is neat and elegant while being a covering and protection. The legging is worn without detracting from style and appearance of one's dress and without injuring or marring the material of the trousers over which the legging is worn. The novel part of the present improvement relates to stiff depending clips and tongues adapted to receive and engage the turned up or folded bottom of the trousers leg in such manner that the legging is supported and retained in place during wear without other attaching means.
  • U.S. Pat. No. D22,603 to Morris Sachs describes a new and original design for a legging with a representation of an ornamental band extending centrally from top to bottom of the side surface of the legging. A side surface of the legging includes an ornamental band extending approximately in a central direction from top to bottom of the side surface. The band's right edge is straight containing a curved or hollow portion at its upper end. The band's left edge has hollows or curved portions and V shaped recesses placed at intervals on each of the side edges of the surface.
  • U.S. Pat. No. D59,048 to Charles Tweedie describes an original and ornamental design for a lady's boot top. This boot top stylishly covers one's leg to mid calf containing piped edging around top and lower edges rising vertically up the outside viewable portion and containing fashionable buttons and button holes for fastening purposes. A strap extends from the boot top's lower portion to wrap around an arch instep of a wearer's shoe holding the boot top in place.
  • U.S. Pat. No. D270,869 to Richard E. Kronberg describes an ornamental design for ladies spats to be slipped over boots or tops of shoes creating a fashionable removable article of clothing. The ladies spats contain lovely ornamentation running vertically up the spat's outer side showing unique fashion of the day and a strap at the lower end for slipping around the underside of a shoe or boot to retain the spat in place.
  • None of these prior art references describe the present invention.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • It is an object of the present invention to provide an attachable and fashionable boot leg wear for men, women and children.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • FIG. 1 is a prototypical diagonal view showing a standard boot body wrap around attachment with buckle fasteners and a base stirrup for holding the boot body in place around a shoe bottom.
  • FIG. 2 is a prototypical diagonal view showing a standard boot body wrap around attachment with front seam lace up, an adjustable tongue, buckle fasteners and a base stirrup for holding the boot body in place around a shoe bottom.
  • FIG. 3 is a prototypical diagonal view showing a standard boot body wrap around attachment with a boot strap, latigo fringe, a zipper for fastening, and an adjustable base stirrup for holding the boot body in place around a shoe bottom.
  • FIG. 4 is a prototypical diagonal view showing a customized boot body wrap around attachment with front seam lace up, an adjustable tongue, buckle fasteners and a base stirrup for holding the boot body in place around a shoe bottom.
  • FIG. 5 is a flattened front perspective view showing adjustable buckles, a front seam lace up with an adjustable tongue, and four straps and buckles respectively on each side for fastening purposes.
  • FIG. 6 is a prototypical diagonal view showing a standard boot body wrap around attachment with front drawstrings, an adjustable tongue, decorative leather binding, an outer canvas mesh, and an inner light weight breathable lining.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • Contemporary men and women often are intensely conscious of style and fashion. The latest starlet or teen heartthrob appears casually disheveled in a wrinkled T shirt and out at the knee jeans with uncombed and unkempt hair, but such a look is planned and calculated. Amid the seeming nonchalance of so called beautiful people, a fashion fortress called haute couture prevails and costs more than most people spend on a week's vacation. Another fashion staple and expense are one's shoes and boots. Top picks for making a fashion statement are star studded high end cowboy or biker boots. Many fashion conscious people would own many different styles of boots if they could afford such a luxury. An average cowboy boot of nice leather and quality workmanship costs approximately two hundred dollars. High end cowboy boots with exotic leathers and skins may costs thousands of dollars. Fashion and adorned boots also may cost hundreds to thousands of dollars. Biker boots may cost anywhere from seventy to five hundred dollars. Owning multiple pairs of boots is too big an expenditure for the average person today.
  • The present invention, hereinafter referred to as Boot Leg Fashion, provides a way for people to have the appearance of wearing fashion boots at a fraction of the cost. Boot Leg Fashion is a product line of ready made articles and themed kits containing fashionable embellishments and accessories to decorate the included bootleg fabric which wraps around the calf and fastens under the shoe. Boot Leg Fashion is leg wear apparel similar to spats. Spats are leather or canvas shoe and leg coverings that fasten under the bottom of the shoe and button up the side. Spats originally were designed to protect shoes and ankles from mud and water while walking. Boot Leg Fashion is a new and improved fashion statement on a blank spat canvas. Boot Leg Fashion is produced in a variety of styles that approximate a boot and are manufactured in a firm textile material such as leather. A Boot Leg Fashion sheath is configured to wrap around the calf with either frontal, side or back fastening closures. Additionally, the sheath is held in place under a shoe's bottom with a chain, hook and loop, elastic or leather stirrup like strap.
  • Typically, a zipper runs along the length of the sheath to fasten the sheath around the leg at the calf and ankle and top of the foot. The zipper can be a two way zipper, opening from top to bottom and from bottom to top, to provide adjustability. The zipper can be positioned to be worn at the inside of the leg.
  • An alternative embodiment does not require a stirrup like strap or any other means to fasten the sheath under the bottom of the shoe. In this embodiment, the sheath is held in place by nature of the wrap around the calf and ankle and top of the foot.
  • Boot Leg Fashion kits include fastening closures such as zippers, buckles, laces, hooks, hook and loop and buttons. Each kit contains a basic undecorated sheath equipped with fasteners and stirrup, decorative embellishments and accessories including paints, studs and embroidery threads. A Boot Leg Fashion kit is available in a variety of styles and themes from dressing up or down to theme related kits such as biker and cowboy boots. Kits for embellishment can include leather with laser cut out patterns, patches and other adornments such as paint or beads, yarns, charms, medallions, hooked yarn, hooked ribbons, laces, for example.
  • The Boot Leg Fashion kit is a practical and fun shoe accessory kit that saves consumers a lot of money. Boot Leg Fashion allows a consumer to be trendy and fashionable at a fraction of the cost of owning multiple pairs of boots. Male and female consumers may use imagination and creativity in designing numerous boot fashions and styles. Boot Leg Fashion also saves a person all the time involved in selecting the right shoe for a specific outfit by providing a wearer with various embellishments to adorn and design a boot to complement an outfit perfectly. Consumers who have a hard time fitting into and wearing boots simply can wrap, adjust and fasten Boot Leg Fashion around their calves. Boot Leg Fashions attached to a user's favorite and comfortable heeled shoe with ease and simplicity. Affordably priced, fabricated of the highest quality materials and engineered for a long working life, Boot Leg Fashion appeals to men, women, teenagers and children.
  • Although this invention has been described with respect to specific embodiments, it is not intended to be limited thereto and various modifications which will become apparent to the person of ordinary skill in the art are intended to fall within the spirit and scope of the invention as described herein taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings and the appended claims.
