Abstract

A Therapeutic High Backed Reclining Gaming Chair with Surround Sound and a Tactile Transducer. The chair is designed using Human Factors Engineering. Design characteristics are specifically fashioned to afford therapeutic support and comfort based on the typical movements of seated gaming participants. It is a recliner with targeted padded support, fixed armrests, adjustable headrest, footrest and a repository for gaming remotes and controllers. 5.1 Surround Sound is provided via a plurality of speakers recessed within the chair core and strategically directed toward the occupant. The chair core contains sound deadening materials. There is minimal sound bleeding. Vibrational energy is transmitted including controlling sound and vibrations, which are transmitted through speakers and the transducer. An Infrared Remote Control induces a Transmitter to communicate with a Central Processing Unit in the Chair. A programmable chip within the Central Processing Unit directs communications with the speakers and transducer.

  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • Accordingly, the invention is a Therapeutic High Back Reclining Gaming Chair with Surround Sound and a Tactile Transducer for Bone Conduction. It relates to a recliner, a gaming chair or device and an audio type sound chair. Human Factors Engineering has been applied to all the design characteristics of the Invention.
  • When Garners participate in long gaming sessions, they typically sit on the edge of a couch, bed or hard backed chair, none of which provide support to the back, shoulders, neck or head. As a result many Gamers suffer from associated aches and pains, thus limiting enjoyment of the experience. With the introduction of flat screen wall mounted televisions, many Garners are also forced to look upward to the screen as they play. The chair provides a comfortable'and supportive platform for Garners. It can support their back, shoulders, neck and head regardless of whether the level of sight is straight ahead or elevated. The armrests are positioned at a level and height that is specific to the angles typically used by Garners. The chair has been designed to support the positions and movements undertaken in a typical gaming session. In this regard it is has Therapeutic Benefits.
  • Garners often keep their legs in the same position for an extended period of time. Consequently Garners often suffer from symptoms of Venous Insufficiency; also referred to as blood pooling, which can be caused by standing or sitting for long periods of time. The chair has a deployable footrest that allows the Gamer to elevate their feet during a gaming session, thus mitigating the potential of Venous Insufficiency.
  • Unlike low-end fabric covered chairs, the Invention is covered with high-grade leather to withstand the wear and tear of Gaming. Garners often need to hydrate during extended sessions. This, combined with the motions required for competent play, often result in spillage. Unlike fabrics, the leather rejects spill absorption. The invention also includes, whereas the flat speakers are self-draining via drainage holes, in that event.
  • Garners have a need for a storage area for holding their remotes or controllers. The invention includes 2 leather repositories for storing remotes and controllers.
  • Garners want the most out of their sessions and that includes advanced sound technology. Accordingly the Invention has 5.1-surround sound via a plurality of speaker. The Invention includes a plurality of recessed speakers specifically designed to facilitate an angle of attack that directs the most sound to the Gamer Occupant. This also reduces sound bleeding. An additional characteristic is the sound deadening materials incorporated in the core areas of the chair. A subwoofer is located beneath the chair seat and directly below a Central Processing Unit. It enhances the bass and contributes to the surround sound experience. The system also includes a Tactile Transducer, which is also recessed and located in the core of the back of the chair. This Tactile Transducer provides bone conduction to the Garner Occupant.
  • The invention includes both wireless and wired applications to facilitate the sound and viewing experience. In summary, an Infrared Remote Control sends a wireless signal to a Transmitter. The Transmitter has a connection to a television or viewing screen and also sends a signal back to the Central Processing Unit, located within the chair. The Central Processing Unit contains a programmable chip and it in turn instructs direct-wired commands to the plurality of speakers, the subwoofer and the tactile transducer.
  • The invention is unique as can be seen in the Drawings. There is a need among the Gaming and Entertainment Segments for the type and design of the Invention described herein.
