Abstract

An exercise device for exercising may include a blade section for resistance movement in a fluid, a handle section to connect to the blade section to hold the exercise device with a hand of the user and a wrist section to connect to the handle section to guide the exercise device with the wrist of the user. The blade section may include a first convex surface at the distal end of the blade section. The blade section may include a second convex surface at the distal end of the blade section.

Description

    FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates to a paddle device and more particularly to a handheld paddle device with a wrist stabilizer.
  • BACKGROUND
  • There are many games which require hitting a ball or other object with a paddle. These games include tennis, racket ball or other such sport. With the growing popularity of ball games which a ball or other game projectile is struck by a paddle, various paddle configurations have been developed to provide better control of the ball during play. Conventional paddles commonly use a flat panel, which is fixed to a handle. A player's fingers wrap around the handle to hold the paddle in a bat-like manner. This configuration provides marginal ball control as the player swings the paddle at the ball. Players often wrap their hand around the flat panel to obtain more direct control of the ball. The disadvantage to using conventional paddles in this way is that the transition from forehand to backhand is difficult. Furthermore, a paddle may be needed in order to steer and propel a watercraft or other device.
  • From nearly the beginning of time there has been the use of a paddle that is used to propel a water vessel across the seas. A paddle typically consists a handle, shaft and a blade which allows a person to propel the water craft forward by efficiently pushing the water backwards, which then, delivers an opposite forward force which propels the water craft.
  • SUMMARY
  • An exercise device for exercising may include a blade section for resistance movement in a fluid, a handle section to connect to the blade section to hold the exercise device with a hand of the user and a wrist section to connect to the handle section to guide the exercise device with the wrist of the user.
  • The blade section may include a first convex surface at the distal end of the blade section.
  • The blade section may include a second convex surface at the distal end of the blade section.
  • The blade section may include a first concave surface at the proximate end of the blade section.
  • The blade section may include a second concave surface at the proximate end of the blade section.
  • The handle section may include a first discontinuous back wall.
  • The wrist section may include a first rear ward extending arm connected to the first discontinuous back wall.
  • The handle section may include a second discontinuous back wall.
  • The wrist section may include a second rear ward extending arm connected to the second discontinuous back wall.
  • The wrist section may include a concave curved arm connected to the first rearward arm.
  • The concave curved arm may be substantially perpendicular to the first rearward arm.
  • The fluid may be air.
  • The fluid may be water.

  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  • The present invention may be used as an exercise device in order to paddle water by creating resistance from the water or other medium and the present invention buffers the arm and produces torque through a fluid such as oil, water or air or any less dense medium. The present invention may be used for exercises in the pool in order to exercise the chest, arms and other areas of the user. FIG. 1 illustrates a top perspective view of the paddle device 100 of the present invention. The paddle device 100 may be formed from metal, plastic, wood or other appropriate material, and the paddle device 100 may be a fluid resistance device to be used in the fluid wherein the fluid may be oil, air, water or other appropriate fluids. Additionally, FIG. 1 illustrates a user 101 of the paddle device 100, and the user 101 may not be to scale of the paddle device 100. The paddle device 100 may include a wrist section 103 to stabilize the paddle device 100, a hand section 105 to connect the hand of the user 101 with the paddle device 100 and a blade section 107 to connect to the hand section 105 and to strike the object such as a ball.
  • The wrist section 103 may include a rearward extending arm 109 which may connect to the hand section 105 and which may be a rectangle or other appropriate device. The wrist section 103 may include a lining of foam/foam padding in order to protect damage to the user's skin. The rearward extending arm 109 may be solid and may extend in the longitudinal direction of the paddle device 100. The rearward extending arm 109 may be connected to a concave curved arm 111 which may extend in the traverse direction and substantially perpendicular to the rearward extending arm 109. The concave curved arm 111 maybe solid and may have a substantially rectangular cross-section. The concave curved arm 111 may be curved to cooperate with the arm of the user 101 to stabilize the paddle device 100 and may be connected to a downward extending arm 113 which may extend downwards in order to stabilize the paddle device 100 with the arm of the user 101.
  • The hand section 105 may include a substantially rectangular device and may include a front wall 115 which may be substantially rectangular and which may be connected to an opposing pair of sidewalls 119 which may be substantially rectangular and which may be connected to a discontinuous back wall 117 to a single sidewall 119 which may be opposed to the front wall 115 and which may be substantially rectangular. The discontinuous back wall 117 may be connected to the rearward extending arm 113. A top wall 121 may connect the opposing side walls 119 and may be rectangular. A bottom wall 122 may be opposed to the top wall 121 and connected to the opposing side walls 119. The top wall 121, the bottom wall 122, the discontinuous back wall 117, the front wall 115 and the opposing side walls 119 may define a cavity 123 for the hand of the user 101.
  • The front wall 115 may be connected to the paddle section which may include a paddle blade 125 to enable the paddle device 100 to strike or impact balls or objects. The paddle blade 125 may extend longitudinally with respect to the paddle device 100 and may include a top surface 127 which may include a top concave portion 135 which may extend from the front wall 115 to the horizontal portion 131, the horizontal portion 131 which may extend from the top concave portion 135 to the top convex portion 133 and the top convex portion 133 which may extend from the top horizontal portion 133 to the front surface 137. The blade 125 may include a bottom surface 141 which may include a bottom concave portion 143 which may extend from the front wall 115 to the bottom horizontal portion 145, the bottom horizontal portion 145 which may extend from the bottom concave portion 145 to the bottom convex portion 147 and the bottom convex portion 147 which may extend from the bottom horizontal portion 145 to the front surface 137. The front surface 137 may extend from the top convex portion 133 to the bottom convex portion 147. The blade 125 may include a pair of opposing side surfaces 151.
  • Additionally illustrated is a handle 153 which may be a cylinder or other appropriate device for a handle may extend between the top wall 121 and the bottom wall 122. The above-described walls in the handle section or the arms of the wrist section may have one or more walls/arms deleted and is still within the scope of the present invention.
  • FIG. 2 illustrates a side perspective view of the paddle device 100 of the present invention. The paddle device 100 maybe formed from metal, plastic, wood or other appropriate material. Additionally, FIG. 2 illustrates a user 101 of the paddle device 100, and the user 101 may not be to scale of the paddle device 100. The paddle device 100 may include a wrist section 103 to stabilize the paddle device 100, a hand section 105 to connect the hand of the user 101 with the paddle device 100 and a blade section 107 to connect to the hand section 105 and to strike the object such as a ball.
  • The wrist section 103 may include a rearward extending arm 109 which may connect to the hand section 105 and which may be a rectangle or other appropriate device. The rearward extending arm 109 may be solid and may extend in the longitudinal direction of the paddle device 100. The rearward extending arm 109 may be connected to a concave curved arm 111 which may extend in the traverse direction and substantially perpendicular to the rearward extending arm 109. The concave curved arm 111 maybe solid and may have a substantially rectangular cross-section. The concave curved arm 111 may be curved to cooperate with the arm of the user 101 to stabilize the paddle device 100 and may be connected to a downward extending arm 113 which may extend downwards in order to stabilize the paddle device 100 with the arm of the user 101.
  • The hand section 105 may include a substantially rectangular device and may include a front wall 115 which may be substantially rectangular and which may be connected to an opposing pair of sidewalls 119 which may be substantially rectangular and which may be connected to a discontinuous back wall 117 to a single sidewalls 119 which may be opposed to the front wall 115 and which may be substantially rectangular. The discontinuous back wall 117 may be connected to the rearward extending arm 113. A top wall 121 may connect the opposing side walls 119 and may be rectangular. A bottom wall 122 may be opposed to the top wall 121 and connected to the opposing side walls 119. The top wall 121, the bottom wall 122, the discontinuous back wall 117, the front wall 115 and the opposing side walls 119 may define a cavity 123 for the hand of the user 101.
  • The front wall 115 may be connected to the paddle section which may include a paddle blade 125 to enable the paddle device 100 to strike or impact balls or objects. The paddle blade 125 may extend longitudinally with respect to the paddle device 100 and may include a top surface 127 which may include a top concave portion 135 which may extend from the front wall 115 to the horizontal portion 131, the horizontal portion 131 which may extend from the top concave portion 135 to the top convex portion 133 and the top convex portion 133 which may extend from the top horizontal portion 133 to the front surface 137. The blade 125 may include a bottom surface 141 which may include a bottom concave portion 143 which may extend from the front wall 115 to the bottom horizontal portion 145, the bottom horizontal portion 145 which may extend from the bottom concave portion 145 to the bottom convex portion 147 and the bottom convex portion 147 which may extend from the bottom horizontal portion 145 to the front surface 137. The front surface 137 may extend from the top convex portion 133 to the bottom convex portion 147. The blade 125 may include a pair of opposing side surfaces 151.
  • Additionally illustrated is a handle 153 which may be a cylinder or other appropriate device for a handle may extend between the top wall 121 and the bottom wall 122.
  • FIG. 3 illustrates a front perspective view of the paddle device 100 of the present invention. The paddle device 100 maybe formed from metal, plastic, wood or other appropriate material. The rearward extending arm 109 may be connected to a concave curved arm 111 which may extend in the traverse direction and substantially perpendicular to the rearward extending arm 109. The concave curved arm 111 maybe solid and may have a substantially rectangular cross-section. The concave curved arm 111 may be curved to cooperate with the arm of the user 101 to stabilize the paddle device 100 and may be connected to a downward extending arm 113 which may extend downwards in order to stabilize the paddle device 100 with the arm of the user 101.
  • The hand section 105 may include a substantially rectangular device and may include a front wall 115 which may be substantially rectangular and which may be connected to an opposing pair of sidewalls 119 which may be substantially rectangular and which may be connected to a discontinuous back wall 117 to a single sidewalls 119 which may be opposed to the front wall 115 and which may be substantially rectangular. The discontinuous back wall 117 may be connected to the rearward extending arm 113. A top wall 121 may connect the opposing side walls 119 and may be rectangular. A bottom wall 122 may be opposed to the top wall 121 and connected to the opposing side walls 119. The top wall 121, bottom wall 122. Order to The discontinuous back wall 117, the front wall 115 and the opposing side walls 119 may define a cavity 123 for the hand of the user 101.
  • The front wall 115 may be connected to the paddle section which may include a paddle blade 125 to enable the paddle device 100 to strike or impact balls or objects or to paddle water. The blade 125 may include a bottom surface 141 which may include a bottom concave portion 143 which may extend from the front wall 115 to the bottom horizontal portion 145, the bottom horizontal portion 145 which may extend from the bottom concave portion 145 to the bottom convex portion 147 and the bottom convex portion 147 which may extend from the bottom horizontal portion 145 to the front surface 137. The blade 125 may include a bottom surface 141 which may include a bottom concave portion 143 which may extend from the front wall 115 to the bottom horizontal portion 145, the bottom horizontal portion 145 which may extend from the bottom concave portion 145 to the bottom convex portion 147 and the bottom convex portion 147 which may extend from the bottom horizontal portion 145 to the front surface 137. The front surface 137 may extend from the top convex portion 133 to the bottom convex portion 147. The blade 125 may include a pair of opposing side surfaces 151.
  • Additionally illustrated is a handle 153 which may be a cylinder or other appropriate device for a handle may extend between the top wall 121 and the bottom wall 122.
  • FIG. 6 illustrates a top perspective view of the paddle device 100 of the present invention. The paddle device 100 maybe formed from metal, plastic, wood or other appropriate material. Additionally, FIG. 6 illustrates a user 101 of the paddle device 100, and the user 101 may not be to scale of the paddle device 100. The paddle device 100 may include a wrist section 103 to stabilize the paddle device 100, a hand section 105 to connect the hand of the user 101 with the paddle device 100 and a blade section 107 to connect to the hand section 105 and to strike the object such as a ball.
  • The wrist section 103 may include a rearward extending arm 109 which may connect to the hand section 105 and which may be a rectangle or other appropriate device. The rearward extending arm 109 may be solid and may extend in the longitudinal direction of the paddle device 100. The rearward extending arm 109 may be connected to a concave curved arm 111 which may extend in the traverse direction and substantially perpendicular to the rearward extending arm 109. The concave curved arm 111 maybe solid and may have a substantially rectangular cross-section. The concave curved arm 111 may be curved to cooperate with the arm of the user 101 to stabilize the paddle device 100 and may be connected to a downward extending arm 113 which may extend downwards in order to stabilize the paddle device 100 with the arm of the user 101.
  • The hand section 105 may include a substantially rectangular device and may include a front wall 115 which may be substantially rectangular and which may be connected to an opposing pair of sidewalls 119 which may be substantially rectangular and which may be connected to a discontinuous back wall 117 to a single sidewall 119 which may be opposed to the front wall 115 and which may be substantially rectangular. The discontinuous back wall 117 may be connected to the rearward extending arm 113. A top wall 121 may connect the opposing side walls 119 and may be rectangular. A bottom wall 122 may be opposed to the top wall 121 and connected to the opposing side walls 119. The top wall 121, the bottom wall 122, the discontinuous back wall 117, the front wall 115 and the opposing side walls 119 may define a cavity 123 for the hand of the user 101.
  • The front wall 115 may be connected to the paddle section which may include a paddle blade 125 to enable the paddle device 100 to strike or impact balls or objects. The paddle blade 125 may extend longitudinally with respect to the paddle device 100 and may include a top surface 127 which may include a top concave portion 135 which may extend from the front wall 115 to the horizontal portion 131, the horizontal portion 131 which may extend from the top concave portion 135 to the top convex portion 133 and the top convex portion 133 which may extend from the top horizontal portion 133 to the front surface 137. The blade 125 may include a bottom surface 141 which may include a bottom concave portion 143 which may extend from the front wall 115 to the bottom horizontal portion 145, the bottom horizontal portion 145 which may extend from the bottom concave portion 145 to the bottom convex portion 147 and the bottom convex portion 147 which may extend from the bottom horizontal portion 145 to the front surface 137. The front surface 137 may extend from the top convex portion 133 to the bottom convex portion 147. The blade 125 may include a pair of opposing side surfaces 151.
  • Additionally illustrated is a handle 153 which may be a cylinder or other appropriate device for a handle may extend between the top wall 121 and the bottom wall 122.
  • FIG. 7 illustrates a back perspective view of the paddle device 100 of the present invention.
  • FIG. 8 illustrates a top perspective view of another embodiment of the paddle device 100 of the present invention.
  • FIG. 8 illustrates a first discontinuous back wall 117 a and a second discontinuous back wall 117 b which may be opposed to the first discontinuous back wall 117 a and illustrates a first rear ward extending arm 109 a which may be connected to the first discontinuous back wall 117 a and a second rear ward extending arm 109 b which may be opposed to the first rearward extending arm 109 a and which may be connected to the second discontinuous back wall 117 b. The first discontinuous back wall 117 a and the second discontinuous back wall 117 b may be connected to opposing side walls 119.
  • FIG. 9 illustrates a first discontinuous back wall 117 a and a second discontinuous back wall 117 b which may be opposed to the first discontinuous back wall 117 a and illustrates a first rear ward extending arm 109 a which may be connected to the first discontinuous back wall 117 a and a second rear ward extending arm 109 b which may be opposed to the first rearward extending arm 109 a and which may be connected to the second discontinuous back wall 117 b. The first discontinuous back wall 117 a and the second discontinuous back wall 117 b may be connected to opposing side walls 119.
  • FIG. 10 illustrates a first discontinuous back wall 117 a and a second discontinuous back wall 117 b which may be opposed to the first discontinuous back wall 117 a and illustrates a first rear ward extending arm 109 a which may be connected to the first discontinuous back wall 117 a and a second rear ward extending arm 109 b which may be opposed to the first rearward extending arm 109 a and which may be connected to the second discontinuous back wall 117 b. The first discontinuous back wall 117 a and the second discontinuous back wall 117 b may be connected to opposing side walls 119.
  • FIG. 11 illustrates a first discontinuous back wall 117 a and a second discontinuous back wall 117 b which may be opposed to the first discontinuous back wall 117 a and illustrates a first rear ward extending arm 109 a which may be connected to the first discontinuous back wall 117 a and a second rear ward extending arm 109 b which may be opposed to the first rearward extending arm 109 a and which may be connected to the second discontinuous back wall 117 b. The first discontinuous back wall 117 a and the second discontinuous back wall 117 b may be connected to opposing side walls 119.
  • Additionally illustrated is a pair of opposing support rods 171 which may extend between the opposing side walls 119.
  • While the invention is susceptible to various modifications and alternative forms, specific embodiments thereof have been shown by way of example in the drawings and are herein described in detail. It should be understood, however, that the description herein of specific embodiments is not intended to limit the invention to the particular forms disclosed.

Claims (13)

1) An exercise device for exercising, comprising:
a blade section for resistance movement in a fluid;
a handle section to connect to the blade section to hold the exercise device with a hand of the user;
a wrist section to connect to the handle section to guide the exercise device with the wrist of the user.
2) An exercise device for exercising as in claim 1, wherein the blade section includes a first convex surface at the distal end of the blade section.
3) An exercise device for exercising as in claim 1, wherein the blade section includes a second convex surface at the distal end of the blade section.
4) An exercise device for exercising as in claim 1, wherein the blade section includes a first concave surface at the proximate end of the blade section.
5) An exercise device for exercising as in claim 1, wherein the blade section includes a second concave surface at the proximate end of the blade section.
6) An exercise device for exercising as in claim 1, wherein the handle section includes a first discontinuous back wall.
7) An exercise device for exercising as in claim 6, wherein the wrist section includes a first rear ward extending arm connected to the first discontinuous back wall.
8) An exercise device for exercising as in claim 1, wherein the handle section includes a second discontinuous back wall.
9) An exercise device for exercising as in claim 8, wherein the wrist section includes a second rear ward extending arm connected to the second discontinuous back wall.
10) An exercise device for exercising as in claim 7, wherein the wrist section includes a concave curved arm connected to the first rearward arm.
11) An exercise device for exercising as in claim 10, wherein the concave curved arm is substantially perpendicular to the first rearward arm.
12) An exercise device for exercising as in claim 1, wherein the fluid is air.
13) An exercise device for exercising as in claim 1, wherein the fluid is water.
