It is believed to be obvious that it is not necessary to employ the use of a V-shaped resilient member 38 but if so desired, coil springs such as illustrated in Figure 9, may be used. The coil springs 8 are secured to the lower portion of each side of the gripping jaws by means of the rivets 46.

When it is desiredrto remove the box of matches 60 from the device, it is only necessary to move the actuating arms 36 inward against the lspring i pressure, thereby moving the teeth 32 of the gripping jaws out of engaging position with the inner sides of the box and subsequently remove the box therefrom. -It is to be noted in this connection u that the teeth 32 of the gripping jaws 2B depend, outwardly and downwardly thereby presenting themselves at an angle to the inner,` side of the box which in the outermost positiony thereof will grip the side walls of the box and securely hold it on the support.

Referring more particularly to vFigure 10, there is-shown a blank piece of material 6| constructed of sheet metal or the like of general rectangular shape having laterally extendingV .rectangular shaped projections 63 provided with apertures 65.
