Abstract

A ribbon gun includes a body having a trigger mechanism received therein and a magazine is received in the body portion. The magazine includes multiple cartridges and ribbons in the cartridges can be ejected by pulling the trigger mechanism. A cover has an outlet and is pivotably connected to the front end of the body. A locking member and a pivot are connected to the cover. The locking member secures the cover to the body, and the pivot is pivotably connected to the body. A pressing portion extends from a rear side thereof which faces interior of the body and a centering piece is located at a center of the pressing portion. The pressing portion presses the board of the magazine to push the cartridges toward the impact rod of the trigger mechanism. The centering piece is engaged with a recess in the board.

Description

    FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention is a Continuation-In-Part patent application of applicant's former patent application with patent application Ser. No. 11/404,788, filed on Apr. 17, 2008.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • Ribbon dispensers used in parties or events generally includes a tubular body and colorful ribbons are received in the body, a line extends from the body and can be pulled to eject the ribbons out from the body. However, the quality of the ribbon dispensers is not satisfied because the line is easily broken and the ribbons are not ejected. The line may need to pull several times to dispense the ribbons in some products. Once the ribbons are used, the bodies become garbage which is not environmental friendly.
  • A conventional ribbon gun known to applicant is disclosed in U.S. Pat. No. 6,120,346 and includes a body with a movable cover connected to a front end thereof, a decorated head is connected to the cover. A magazine is received in the body. The cover includes a positioning eye on a top thereof and a bolt extends through the pivot hole and connected to the body so that the cover can be pivoted about the bolt. The ribbon gun includes many complicated structure which requires too many assembly steps. Besides, the positioning eye is easily deformed or broken such that the cover cannot secured at the correct position and the opening in the cover is then not aligned with the body. Therefore, the ribbon cannot eject from the opening of the cover.
  • The present invention intends to provide a ribbon gun wherein the cover includes a locking member on a top thereof and a pivot at a lower end thereof, so that the pivot is pivotably connected to the two halves and the cover is easily assembled and pivoted.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates to a ribbon gun which comprises a body having a trigger mechanism received therein and an opening is defined in a front end of the body. A cover is pivotably connected to the front end of the body and has an outlet defined therethrough. A locking member and a pivot are connected to the cover. The pivot has two ends which are connected to the body and the locking member has an engaging member which is removably engaged with a protrusion on the body to secure the cover. A pressing portion extends from a rear side of the cover and a centering piece is located at a center of the pressing portion. A magazine is rotatably located in the body and includes multiples cartridges which are located along a circle and the cartridges defining a space located at a center of the cartridges. Each cartridge includes a detonator at an end thereof and the impact rod hits the detonator of each cartridge one by one by activating the trigger mechanism.
  • The primary object of the present invention is to provide ribbon gun which is easily manufactured and assembled. The cover and the body of the ribbon gun are firmly and precisely connected to each other.
  • Another object of the present invention is to provide ribbon gun wherein the cover includes a pressing portion and a centering piece so as to press the magazine toward the impact rod of the trigger mechanism and to position the magazine at correct position.
  • The present invention will become more obvious from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings which show, for purposes of illustration only, a preferred embodiment in accordance with the present invention.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • FIG. 1 is a perspective view to show the ribbon gun of the present invention;
  • FIG. 2 shows one of two halves of the body and the cover connected to the half;
  • FIG. 3 is an end view of the cover;
  • FIG. 4 shows a side view of the cover;
  • FIG. 5 is a partial cross sectional view to show the ribbon gun of the present invention;
  • FIG. 6 is a perspective view of the magazine of the ribbon gun of the present invention, and
  • FIG. 7 shows the magazine of the ribbon gun of the present invention from another angle.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
  • Referring to FIGS. 1 to 7, the ribbon gun of the present invention comprises a body 10 which is composed of two halves 12 and the two halves 12 are matched with each other to form the body 10. A trigger mechanism is received in the body portion 10 and includes a shaft 43, an impact rod 42 and a trigger 41 which extends from the body 10. An opening is defined in a front end of the body 10 and a cover 20 is pivotably connected to the front end of the body 10. The trigger mechanism includes an impact rod 42 and a shaft 43, the impact rod 42 moves toward the front end of the body 10 when the trigger mechanism is activated.
  • The cover 20 includes an outlet 25 defined therethrough and an annular flange 21 extends from a front side of the cover 20 and encloses the outlet 25. A locking member 24 and a pivot 22 are connected to the cover 20. The pivot 22 and the locking member 24 are located in opposite diametrically on the cover 20. The pivot 22 having two ends 23 which are connected to the two halves 12 of the body 10 so that the cover 20 is pivoted about the pivot 22. The locking member 24 has an engaging member 242 extending from an underside thereof and the engaging member 242 is removably engaged with the protrusion 14 on the body 10 to secure the cover 20. A decoration member 30 is connected to the cover 20 and includes a passage (not shown) which is in communication with the outlet 25.
  • A pressing portion 27 extends from a rear side thereof which faces interior of the body 10. A centering piece 26 extends from the rear side of the cover 20 and is located at a center of the pressing portion 27. In this embodiment, the pressing portion 27 is an annular flange (as shown in cross sectional view taken along line A-A in FIG. 4).
  • A magazine 50 is rotatably mounted to the shaft 43 and located in the body 10. The magazine 50 includes multiples cartridges 51 which are located along a circle and the cartridges 51 defines a space 52 located at a center of the cartridges 51. Each cartridge 51 includes a detonator 512 at an end thereof and ribbons are received in the cartridges 51. A board 53 (FIG. 6) is located in the space 52 and closes the space 52. A recess 54 is defined in the board 53.
  • When the user pulls the trigger 41, the impact rod 42 moves toward the magazine 50 and hits the detonator 512 of one of the cartridges 51, the detonator 512 is activated to eject the ribbons in the cartridge 51 out from the outlet 25 and the decoration member 30. In the meanwhile, the magazine 50 rotates an angle to feed another cartridge 51 to the position ready to be fired by the impact rod 42. Therefore, the user can fire the cartridges 51 one by one by activating the trigger mechanism.
  • The cover 20 can be easily opened by disengaging the locking member 24 from the protrusion 14, so that the magazine 50 can be replaced.
  • After the new magazine 50 is installed into the body 10, the cover 20 is pivoted to close the opening of the front end of the body 10, the pressing portion 27 pushes the board 53 of the magazine 50 and the centering piece 26 is engaged with the recess 54 so that the magazine 50 is well positioned to ensure that the impact rod 42 can hit the detonator 512 precisely.
  • While we have shown and described the embodiment in accordance with the present invention, it should be clear to those skilled in the art that further embodiments may be made without departing from the scope of the present invention.
