Abstract
A monitor support device includes a tube for fixing a post and at least one collar is pivotably connected to the tube by engaging two respective toothed surfaces on the tube and the at least one collar so as to support a load in vertical direction. A plurality of pivot members are pivotably connected with each other and the first pivot member of the series of pivot members is pivotably connected to the at least one collar, and the last pivot member of the series of pivot members is pivotably connected with a U-shaped connection member on the monitor. The monitor can be pivoted in horizontal and vertical directions and the toothed surfaces are able to hold the monitor in position in vertical directions.
Description
- (1) Field of the Invention
- The present invention relates to a monitor support device which allows the monitor to be pivoted in horizontal directions and can be supported in vertical directions.
- (2) Description of the Prior Arts
- In a modern office, computers are used for the members in the office and each member is equipped with at least one monitor which is connected with a computer so as to form a office network. Each monitor is connected to the desk by a support device which generally includes a base with a post connected thereon and the monitor is pivotably connected to the post. The monitor can be adjusted in horizontal directions to meet the user's needs. However, an inherent shortcoming for the conventional monitor support device is that the monitor is so heavy so that the support device cannot well hold it in the direction directions and the monitor tends to pivot downward due to its weight.
- The present invention relates to a monitor support device that includes a tube for being connected to a post and two plates extend radially from the tube. One of the two plates has a positioning plate connected to an inside thereof and the positioning plate has a first toothed surface. At least one collar has an insertion extending therefrom which is pivotably connected between the two plates. The insertion has a second toothed surface which is matched with the first toothed surface. A first pivot member is pivotably connected to a first passage of the at least one collar and has a first bar extending radially therefrom. An extension rod has a first end connected with the first bar and a second end of the extension rod is connected with a second pivot member which is pivotably connected with a third pivot member. The third pivot member is pivotably connected with a U-shaped connection member which is connected with a monitor.
- The primary object of the present invention is to provide a monitor support device which can support the monitor in vertical directions.
- The present invention intends to provide a monitor support device that can be extended to connect with multiple support devices to form a monitor wall.
- The present invention will become more obvious from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings which show, for purposes of illustration only, a preferred embodiment in accordance with the present invention.

FIG. 13 shows the monitor is adjusted in vertical directions. - Referring to FIGS. 1 to 4, the monitor support device of the present invention comprises a
tube 10 through which apost 74 extends and thetube 10 includes twoholes fastening sleeve 11 having a longitudinal slit is received in thetube 10 and mounted on thepost 74, twopositioning bolts holes post 74 to position thetube 10 relative to thepost 74. One of thebolts 131 is connected with anoperation handle 13. Acollar 20 is connected to thetube 10 and includes afirst passage 21. - A
first pivot member 30 has a first threadedrod 31 which extends through thefirst passage 21 and is cooperated withwashers 321 and anut 32. Thefirst pivot member 30 is pivotably connected to thefirst passage 21 of thecollar 20 and has afirst bar 33 extending radially therefrom. Thefirst bar 33 includes a plurality of grooves andridges extension rod 60 includes an axial passage defined therethrough and thefirst bar 33 is inserted into a first end of theextension rod 60. Asecond pivot member 40 has asecond passage 42 and asecond bar 41 which includes a plurality of grooves and ridges defined in an outer periphery thereof and is inserted into a second end of theextension rod 60. - The
extension rod 60 includes agroove 63 defined in a top thereof and threadedholes 62 are located in an inside of thegroove 63 so thatbolts 61 extend through the threadedholes 62 and are engaged with thegrooves 332 of the first andsecond bars decoration plate 64 is engaged with thegroove 63 to hide the threadedholes 62 and afastening belt 65 is wrapped around theextension rod 60 to position thedecoration plate 64. - A
third pivot member 50 has a second threadedrod 31 which extends through thesecond passage 42 and is cooperated withwashers 521 and anut 52 so that thethird pivot member 50 is pivotably connected to thesecond passage 42. Thethird pivot 50 includes alug 53 which has a throughhole 531 and thelug 53 is pivotably connected to the U-shapedconnection member 55 by extending abolt 54 through apolygonal hole 551 in one of two wings of the U-shapedconnection member 55, the throughhole 531 in thelug 53, a circular hole in the other wing, anut 554 and connected with ahandle 56. The U-shapedconnection member 55 includes acenter hole 552 and abracket 71 is connected to the U-shapedmember 55 by abolt 53 extending through thecenter hole 552 and connected with a nut. Thebracket 71 is connected to aconnection plate 72 fixed on amonitor 90 bybolts 711. - The length of the
extension rod 60 can be set to be a desired length so as to extend the position of themonitor 90. Themonitor 90 can also be pivoted in horizontal directions by pivoting thefirst pivot member 30, thesecond pivot member 40 and/or thethird pivot member 50. -
FIG. 5 shows that two sets of thefirst pivot members 30 and theextension rods 60 are used to increase the length in the horizontal directions. In other words, thesecond pivot member 40 is connected with another set of thefirst pivot member 30 and theextension rod 60. -
FIGS. 6 and 7 show that the number of thecollars collars tube 81 so that three sets of the support devices can be connected to onepost 74 to arrange threemonitors 90 side by side to form a monitor wall. -
FIG. 8 shows that the number of thecollars collars post 74 as shown. - Referring to FIGS. 9 to 12, a second embodiment of the monitor support device comprises a tube 110 a
tube 10 through which apost 74 extends and thetube 110 includes two holes defined through a wall thereof. Afastening sleeve 111 having a longitudinal slit is received in thetube 110 and mounted on thepost 74. Twopositioning bolts post 74 to position thetube 110 relative to thepost 74. One of thebolts 1131 is connected with anoperation handle 113. Twoplates tube 110 and one of the twoplates positioning plate 115 connected to an inside thereof. One of the twoplates apertures 1141 defined therethrough and thepositioning plate 115 has a plurality ofpositioning protrusions 1151 which are inserted into theapertures 1141. Thepositioning plate 115 has afirst toothed surface 1153. - A
collar 120 has aninsertion 121 extending therefrom which is pivotably connected between the twoplates insertion 121 has arecessed area 1212 and a secondtoothed surface 1211 is defined in therecessed area 121 and the secondtoothed surface 1211 is matched with thefirst toothed surface 1153. Abolt 117 extends through acentral hole 1142 in theplate 114, thehole 1152 in thepositioning plate 115, thehole 1214 in theinsertion 121, anotherhole 1121 in theplate 112 and is connected to a threadedhole 1180 defined in aknob 118 so as to position theinsertion 121 between the twoplates tube 110. - A
first pivot member 130 has a first threadedrod 1301 which extends through afirst passage 123 in thecollar 120 and is cooperated withwashers 1321 and anut 132, and is connected to a threaded recess in aknob 134. Afirst bar 133 extends radially from thefirst pivot member 130 and includes plurality of grooves andridges - An
extension rod 160 has an axial passage defined therethrough and the first end of theextension rod 160 is connected with thefirst bar 133 and a second end of theextension rod 160 is connected with asecond bar 141 of asecond pivot member 140. Thesecond bar 141 includes a plurality of grooves and ridges defined in an outer periphery thereof. Theextension rod 160 includes a plurality ofbolts 161 threadedly extend through threadedholes 162 in theextension rod 160 and are connected with thegrooves 1331 in the first andsecond pivot members extension rod 60 includes agroove 163 defined in a top thereof and the threadedholes 162 are located in an inside of thegroove 163. Adecoration plate 164 is engaged with thegroove 163 to hide the threadedholes 162 and afastening belt 165 is wrapped around theextension rod 160 to position thedecoration plate 164. Thesecond pivot member 140 has asecond passage 142. - A
third pivot member 150 is pivotably connected to thesecond passage 142 and pivotably connected with aU-shaped connection member 156 which is connected with amonitor 90. Thethird pivot 150 includes a second threadedrod 151 which extends through thesecond passage 142 and is cooperated withwashers 1521 and anut 152, and is connected to aknob 153. Thethird pivot 50 includes alug 154 which has a throughhole 1541 and thelug 154 is pivotably connected to theU-shaped connection member 156 by extending abolt 155 through theU-shaped connection member 156, the throughhole 1541 in thelug 154 and connected with ahandle 157. TheU-shaped connection member 156 is connected with abracket 71 and aconnection plate 72 that is fixed on amonitor 90. -
FIG. 13 shows that two sets of thefirst pivot members 130 and theextension rods 160 are used to increase the length in the horizontal directions. In other words, thesecond pivot member 140 is connected with another set of thefirst pivot member 130 and theextension rod 160. By the engagement of the first and secondtoothed surfaces monitor 90 can be held in position in the vertical directions. - While we have shown and described the embodiment in accordance with the present invention, it should be clear to those skilled in the art that further embodiments may be made without departing from the scope of the present invention.
Claims (17)
1. A monitor support device comprising:
a tube adapted to mount on a post and at least one collar connected to the tube and including a first passage;
a first pivot member pivotably connected to the first passage of the at least one collar and having a first bar extending radially therefrom;
an extension rod having a first end connected with the first bar and a second end of the extension rod connected with a second pivot member, the second pivot member having a second passage, and
a third pivot member pivotably connected to the second passage and pivotably connected with a U-shaped connection member which is adapted to be connected with a monitor.
2. The device as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the tube includes two holes defined through a wall thereof and a fastening sleeve having a longitudinal slit is received in the tube, two positioning bolts extend through the two holes and are adapted to contact against the post.
3. The device as claimed in claim 2 , wherein one of the bolts is connected with an operation handle.
4. The device as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the first pivot includes a first threaded rod which extends through the first passage and is cooperated with washers and a nut.
5. The device as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the first bar includes a plurality of grooves and ridges defined in an outer periphery thereof, the second pivot member has a second bar extending radially therefrom which includes a plurality of grooves and ridges defined in an outer periphery thereof, the extension rod includes an axial passage defined therethrough so that the first and second bars are respectively inserted into the axial passage from two ends of the extension rod, a plurality of bolts threadedly extend through threaded holes in the extension rod and are connected with the grooves in the first and second pivot members.
6. The device as claimed in claim 5 , wherein the extension rod includes a groove defined in a top thereof and the threaded holes are located in an inside of the groove, a decoration plate is engaged with the groove to hide the threaded holes and a fastening belt is wrapped around the extension rod to position the decoration plate.
7. The device as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the third pivot includes a second threaded rod which extends through the second passage and is cooperated with washers and a nut.
8. The device as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the third pivot includes a lug which has a through hole and the lug is pivotably connected to the U-shaped connection member by extending a bolt through the U-shaped connection member, the through hole in the lug and connected with a handle.
9. A monitor support device comprising:
a tube adapted to mount on a post and having two plates extending radially therefrom and one of the two plates having a positioning plate connected to an inside thereof, the positioning plate having a first toothed surface;
at least one collar having an insertion extending therefrom which is pivotably connected between the two plates, the insertion having a second toothed surface which is matched with the first toothed surface;
a first pivot member pivotably connected to a first passage of the at least one collar and having a first bar extending radially therefrom;
an extension rod having a first end connected with the first bar and a second end of the extension rod connected with a second pivot member, the second pivot member having a second passage, and
a third pivot member pivotably connected to the second passage and pivotably connected with a U-shaped connection member which is adapted to be connected with a monitor.
10. The device as claimed in claim 9 , wherein the tube includes two holes defined through a wall thereof and a fastening sleeve having a longitudinal slit is received in the tube, two positioning bolts extend through the two holes and are adapted to contact against the post.
11. The device as claimed in claim 10 , wherein one of the bolts is connected with an operation handle.
12. The device as claimed in claim 9 , wherein the first pivot includes a first threaded rod which extends through the first passage and is cooperated with washers and a nut.
13. The device as claimed in claim 9 , wherein the first bar includes a plurality of grooves and ridges defined in an outer periphery thereof, the second pivot member has a second bar extending radially therefrom which includes a plurality of grooves and ridges defined in an outer periphery thereof, the extension rod includes an axial passage defined therethrough so that the first and second bars are respectively inserted into the axial passage from two ends of the extension rod, a plurality of bolts threadedly extend through threaded holes in the extension rod and are connected with the grooves in the first and second pivot members.
14. The device as claimed in claim 13 , wherein the extension rod includes a groove defined in a top thereof and the threaded holes are located in an inside of the groove, a decoration plate is engaged with the groove to hide the threaded holes and a fastening belt is wrapped around the extension rod to position the decoration plate.
15. The device as claimed in claim 9 , wherein the third pivot includes a second threaded rod which extends through the second passage and is cooperated with washers and a nut.
16. The device as claimed in claim 9 , wherein the third pivot includes a lug which has a through hole and the lug is pivotably connected to the U-shaped connection member by extending a bolt through the U-shaped connection member, the through hole in the lug and connected with a handle.
17. The device as claimed in claim 9 , wherein one of the two plates has a plurality of apertures defined therethrough and the positioning plate has a plurality of positioning protrusions which are inserted into the apertures.
