In railway draft rigging, in combination witha coupler, a main. yoke, a keyl connecting said coupler and. yoke, said coupler and key having an element therebetween to provide a universal. joint, and an auxiliary member with arms at the sides operatively embracing the stem-of saidtcoupler and said element and each arm intersected by saidkey, to hold the parts assembled to receive buffing forces from the coupler.

8.- In railway draft riggingy in combination, a couplerstem having a rear integral transverse wall and an integral transverse wall forwardly spaced-withrespect thereto, the inner faces-of said walls being substantially I concentric and spherical, the-outer face of *the rear wall being curved substantially concentric with theinner face thereof} a slotted block mounted between said walls and having bearing surfacesshaped to fitbetween ,thespherical portions -thereof, an auxiliary member engaging said coupler stem and formed with forwardly extending arms embracing-said block, ahorizontal yoke with forwardly extending arms embracing said auxiliary memher on either side of the arms thereof, a key extending through slots in the block, and in the arms of said auxiliary member and yoke for connecting the parts, that portion of the auxiliary member adjacent thecurved outer face of the rear wall of the coupler stem being correspondingly curved to fit said face and adapted to bear thereon for the transmission of buffing forces.
9. In railway draft rigging, in combination, a coupler provided with a butt substantially spherical on its rear surface, an auxiliary member embracing the butt of said coupler and provided with a portion adjacent the spherical portion thereof fitting said spherical portion, and a key passing through registering slots in'said auxiliary member and coupler for connecting said parts, sufficient clearance for the key being provided to permit universal angling of the coupler with respect to said member.
10. In railway draft rigging, in combination, a coupler stem with a butt substantially spherical on its rear surface and having a pocket formed between a rear wall thereof and a forwardly spaced wall, the inner-surfaces of said walls being substantially spherical and concentric withthe I rear surface of the butt, a block mounted in said pocket, a yoke associated with said coupler stem, an auxiliary member disposed between the arms of said yoke and having side arms embracing the butt of said coupler, said auxiliary member having a forward face substantially spherical and fitting the rear surface of the coupler butt, and means connecting'said block, each arm of said auxiliary member and said yoke.
11. In railway draft rigging, in combination, a coupler stem with a butt substantially spherical on its rear surface and having a pocket therein.

A coupler provided with a stem having a substantially spherical butt portion and formed with a pocket therein between a rear wall and a wall forwardly spaced therefrom, the inner surfaces of said walls being substantially spherical and concentric with the butt portion, a block mounted in said pocket and formed with curved tending slot in advance thereof, said rear wall having curved rear and forward surfaces, a bearing block having a curved forward face cooperating with said curved rear surface, and a key seat member positioned in said slot and having a curved rear face cooperating with said curved forward surface of said rear wall, the bearing block being provided with forwardly extending arms embracing said shank member and key seat member and serving to connect said block to said key seat member. s

A car coupler adapted for attachment to a draft yoke or the like, said coupler involving a shank member provided at its rear end with a horizontally and vertically curved exterior surface and having in advance of said surface a vertically and horizontally curved, interior face and having a transversely extending slot in advance of said surface, a key seat member having a curved rear face corresponding to and engaging said in-' terior face of the shank member, a bearing block having a flat rear face adapted to engage the follower of adraft gear and having a vertically and horizontally curved forward surface for cooperating with said exterior surface of the shank member, and means attaching said bearing block to the shank member, said means including said key seat member. v
15. A car coupler adapted for-attachment to a draft yoke or the like, said coupler involvinga.
