Abstract

A double-face usable duster and the method for making the cleaning cloth thereof for cleaning dust off various articles comprises a first surface cleaning layer and a second surface cleaning layer and a central layer, each of the surface cleaning layers being formed by two layers of non-woven fabric through a hot-melt process. The central layer is an electrostatic precipitating portion sandwiched between the surface cleaning layers made of hot melt yarns. The three layers are combined to form the cleaning cloth of a double-face usable duster. Each of the surface cleaning layers is further provided with a plurality of sleeves for retaining a handle.

Description

    FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates to dusters and methods for making the cloths thereof, more particularly to a double-face usable duster and the method for making the cleaning cloth thereof. The double-face usable duster thereby made has a central portion for cleaning irregular surfaces, and the inner layer and the outer layer can be swapped to extend the durability of the double-face usable duster.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • The dusters of the prior art are mainly feather dusters suitable for cleaning surfaces of large areas and less efficient for cleaning irregular surfaces. To clean irregular surfaces, a cleaning cloth is held by a hand and applied to a surface. The hand holding the cloth is easy to get stained, or the hand will wear a glove, which is inconvenient to a user in either case. Therefore, it is desirable to invent a duster for generally cleaning and cleaning irregular surfaces.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a double-face usable duster and the method for making the cleaning cloth thereof for cleaning dust off various articles. The double-face usable duster comprises a plurality of surface cleaning layers each made of two non-woven fabrics through a hot-melt process, during which process sleeves for retaining a handle arm are formed on each of the surface cleaning layers. Each of the sleeves has a closed end for preventing inserting the handle at a wrong end. Between the surface cleaning layers, there situates a central, electrostatic precipitating layer. The central layer is made of hot melt nodal yarns provided with nodes. The hot melt nodal yarns are a fabric interlaced by coarse and fine fibers capable of being hot-melted, whereby the fibers will not entangled. The central layer, the first surface cleaning layer and the second surface cleaning layer are bound together by hot melting.

  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
  • The various objects and advantages of the present invention will be more readily understood from the following detailed description when read in conjunction with the appended drawings.
  • Referring to FIGS. 2, 3, 4 and 5, a double-face usable duster according to the present invention comprises a first surface cleaning layer 1, a second surface cleaning layer 9, a central layer 8, and a handle 18. A plurality of sleeves 4, 12 are respectively formed on the outer surfaces of the first surface cleaning layer 1 and the second surface cleaning layer 9 when they are made. A plurality of elongated weld lines 5, 13 are respectively formed transverse to a selected longitudinal axis of the first surface cleaning layer 1 and the second surface cleaning layer 9.
  • The first surface cleaning layer 1 is combined by two layers of non-woven fabric through a hot melt process. The first layer of non-woven fabric is a needle-punched non-woven fabric with embossed mesh 2, and the second layer of non-woven fabric is a smooth hot melt non-woven fabric 3. Each of the sleeves 4 has a wider opening and a closed narrow tail section 6, taking the form of an elongated trapezoid. Thereby, a handle arm can be inserted and secured therein, and the closed narrow tail section 6 can prevent inserting a handle arm at a wrong end. Further, the outer portions of the cleaning cloth made of the first surface cleaning layer 1 and the second surface cleaning layer 9 are cut to form a multitude of transverse strips 7 for providing a more effective cleaning effect.
  • The central layer 8 is an electrostatic precipitating portion sandwiched by the first surface cleaning layer 1 and the second surface cleaning layer 9. The central layer 8 is made of hot melt nodal yarns with a node density of 50 per inch. The hot melt nodal yarns are a fabric interlaced by coarse and fine fibers capable of being hot-melted, whereby the fibers will not entangled. The central layer 8, the first surface cleaning layer 1 and the second surface cleaning layer 9 are bound together by hot melting.
  • The second surface cleaning layer 9 is combined by two layers of non-woven fabric through a hot melt process. The first layer of non-woven fabric is a needle-punched non-woven fabric with embossed mesh 10, and the second layer of non-woven fabric is a smooth hot melt non-woven fabric 11. Each of the sleeves 12 has a wider opening and a closed narrow tail section 14, taking the form of an elongated trapezoid. Thereby, a handle arm can be inserted and secured therein, and the closed narrow tail section 14 can prevent inserting a handle arm at a wrong end. Further, a multitude of transverse embossments 15 are formed on the outer surface of the second surface cleaning layer 9 for providing a more effective cleaning effect.
  • A double-face usable duster 16 thereby formed is further provided with two elongated openings 17 respectively along the respective longitudinal axes ending at the elongated weld lines 5, 13. The elongated openings 17 have the effect of expanding the cleaning surface of the double-face usable duster 16.
  • Referring to FIG. 7, a handle 18 is inserted into the sleeves 4 on the first surface cleaning layer 1, forming a double-face usable duster 16. The double-face usable duster 16 is capable of cleaning a variety of articles, and, especially, the elongated opening 17 is suitable for cleaning irregular surfaces. When the cleaning cloth is dirty, the handle 18 is pulled out and the cloth is flipped so that the second surface cleaning layer 9 becomes the outer layer. The handle 18 is reinserted into the sleeves 12 on the second surface cleaning layer 9, as shown in FIG. 6.
  • Referring to FIGS. 1, 2, 3 and 4, the double-face usable duster and the method for making the cleaning cloth thereof are illustrated.
  • The method of making the cloth of the double-face usable duster is illustrated in FIG. 1, which comprises the steps of piling up a needle-punched non-woven fabric with embossed mesh 2 and a smooth hot melt non-woven fabric 3 to form a first surface cleaning layer 1, being cut to form a multitude of transverse strips 7, yarn setting and five-layer combining processing.
  • The central layer 8 is formed by the steps of processing coarse fibers capable of being hot-melted into hot melt nodal yarns, yarn setting and five-layer combining processing.
  • The second surface cleaning layer 9 is formed by the steps of piling up a needle-punched non-woven fabric with embossed mesh 10 and a smooth hot melt non-woven fabric 11, cutting the second surface cleaning layer 9 to form a multitude of transverse strips 15, yarn setting and five-layer combining processing.
  • The first surface cleaning layer 1, the central layer 8, and the second surface cleaning layer 9 are then piled up and undergo the steps of yarn setting, five-layer combining processing, and five-layer hot stamping.
  • The first surface cleaning layer 1 and the second surface cleaning layer 9 of the cleaning cloth are cut to form respective elongated openings 17 extended along the longitudinal axis and ended at the weld lines 5, 13. The cloth is then folded about its longitudinal axis to form the final configuration of the double-face usable duster.
  • The handle 18 is inserted into the sleeves 4 on the first surface cleaning layer 1 to form the double-face usable duster 16, as shown in FIG. 7, which can cleaning a plurality of articles. The elongated opening 17 of the double-face usable duster 16 is especially suitable for cleaning irregular surface of some articles. When the cleaning cloth is dirty, the handle 18 is pulled out and the cloth is flipped so that the second surface cleaning layer 9 becomes the outer layer. The handle 18 is reinserted into the sleeves 12 on the second surface cleaning layer 9, as shown in FIG. 6.
  • The present invention is thus described, and it will be obvious that the same may be varied in many ways. Such variations are not to be regarded as a departure from the spirit and scope of the present invention, and all such modifications as would be obvious to one skilled in the art are intended to be included within the scope of the following claims.

Claims (5)

1. A method for making the cloth of a double-face usable duster, comprising the steps of:
(1) piling up a needle-punched non-woven fabric with embossed mesh and a smooth hot melt non-woven fabric to form a first surface cleaning layer, said first surface cleaning layer being cut to form a multitude of transverse strips, yarn setting and five-layer combining processing;
(2) processing coarse fibers capable of being hot-melted into hot melt nodal yarns to form a central layer, yarn setting and five-layer combining processing;
(3) piling up a needle-punched non-woven fabric with embossed mesh and a smooth hot melt non-woven fabric to form a second surface cleaning layer, said second surface cleaning layer being cut to form a multitude of transverse strips, yarn setting and five-layer combining processing;
(4) piling up said first surface cleaning layer, said central layer, and said second surface cleaning layer and undergoing through sub-steps of yarn setting, five-layer combining processing, and five-layer hot stamping, whereby a cleaning cloth will be formed; and
(5) cutting elongated openings on said first surface cleaning layer and said second surface cleaning layer along a selected longitudinal direction, folding said cleaning cloth about said longitudinal direction to form a final configuration of said double-face usable duster.
2. A double-face usable duster, comprising:
a first surface cleaning layer combined by a first layer of non-woven fabric and a second layer of non-woven fabric through a hot melt process, said first surface cleaning layer being further provided with a plurality of sleeves extended along a longitudinal axis thereof and an elongated weld line transverse to said longitudinal axis, each of said sleeves having a wide opening, a shrinking middle section and a closed narrow tail section, whereby a handle arm can be inserted and secured in one said sleeve, whereby said closed narrow tail section can prevent inserting a handle arm at a wrong end, outer portions of said first surface cleaning layer being cut to form a multitude of transverse strips for providing a more effective cleaning effect;
a second surface cleaning layer combined by a first layer of non-woven fabric and a second layer of non-woven fabric through a hot melt process, said second surface cleaning layer being further provided with a plurality of sleeves extended along a longitudinal axis thereof and an elongated weld line transverse to said longitudinal axis, each of said sleeves having a wide opening, a shrinking middle section and a closed narrow tail section, whereby a handle arm can be inserted and secured in one said sleeve, and whereby said closed narrow tail section can prevent inserting a handle arm at a wrong end, outer portions of said second surface cleaning layer being cut to form a multitude of transverse strips for providing a more effective cleaning effect; and
a central electrostatic precipitating layer made of hot melt nodal yarns and sandwiched by said first surface cleaning layer and said second surface cleaning layer, said hot melt nodal yarns being a fabric interlaced by coarse fibers capable of being hot-melted, said central layer, said first surface cleaning layer and said second surface cleaning layer being bound together by hot melting to form a combined structure, said combined structure further including two elongated openings respectively extending along said longitudinal axes and ending at said elongated weld lines; and
whereby said combined structure can be folded about one said longitudinal axis to form said double-face usable duster, whereby said elongated openings will have an effect of expanding the cleaning surface of said double-face usable duster, and whereby a handle will be coupled with said sleeves of one of said first surface cleaning layer and said second surface cleaning layer.

The double-face usable duster of claim 2 wherein said first layer of non-woven fabric of said first surface cleaning layer is a needle-punched non-woven fabric with embossed mesh, and said second layer of non-woven fabric of both of said first surface cleaning layers is a smooth hot melt non-woven fabric.
4. The double-face usable duster of claim 2 wherein said central layer is an electrostatic precipitating portion made of hot melt nodal yarns with a node density of 1-50 per inch, and wherein said hot melt nodal yarns are a fabric interlaced by coarse and fine fibers capable of being hot-melted, whereby said fibers will not entangled.
5. The double-face usable duster of claim 2 wherein said second layer of non-woven fabric of said first surface cleaning layer is a needle-punched non-woven fabric with embossed mesh, and said second layer of non-woven fabric of said first surface cleaning layer is a smooth hot melt non-woven fabric.
