Abstract

The Cosmetic Application Guides provide a new design in makeup application devices, combining three distinct benefits through the shape and positioning of the appliances. Users are able to quickly locate the appropriate facial lines for makeup application, ensure that makeup is applied only to the desired areas, and protect surrounding areas and clothing from unintended dispersion.

Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • The field of endeavor to which this invention pertains is a means to facilitate appropriate and accurate application of cosmetics such as eye shadows, powder and blushers to the human cheek-line, eye and chin line/neck areas. [0001]
  • BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The invention consists of four (4) plastic forms to be used as guides for the purpose of providing an accurate and efficient means of identifying the appropriate areas for cosmetic application to achieve desired facial contouring effects, to aid in the actual application of the cosmetics and to serve as a shield to prevent cosmetic application in unwanted areas. The four (4) guides are as follows: [0002]
  • 1) Cheek Cosmetic Application Guide—A triangular shaped plastic form used to identify the cheek line area along which cosmetics should be applied to achieve desired facial contouring effects. The form also serves as guideline along which the actual cosmetics are applied and, additionally, serves as shield to prevent cosmetic application in unwanted areas. Refer drawings FIG. 1 and FIG. 7. [0003]
  • 2) Small Eye Area Cosmetic Application Guide—A small triangular shaped plastic form is used to identify the area along which eye shadow or other eye area contouring cosmetics should be applied. The form also serves as a guideline for the actual cosmetic application and as a shield to prevent cosmetic application in unwanted areas. Refer to drawings FIG. 2 and FIG. 8. [0004]
  • 3) Medium Eye Area Cosmetic Application Guide—A triangular shaped plastic form, larger than the Small Eye Area Guide, is used to identify the desired area along which eye shadow or other eye area contouring cosmetics should be applied. The form also serves as a guideline along which the actual cosmetics will be applied and, additionally, as a shield to prevent cosmetic application in unwanted areas. Refer to drawings FIG. 3 and FIG. 8. [0005]
  • 4) Curved Eye Area Cosmetic Application Guide A curved shaped plastic form is used to identify the area along which eye shadow or other eye area contouring cosmetics should be applied. The form also serves a guide for the actual cosmetic application and as a shield to prevent cosmetic application in unwanted areas. Refer to drawings FIG. 4 and FIG. 9.[0006]
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • The cosmetic application guides were developed to provide an accurate and efficient method for identifying where to apply cosmetics, to serve as device to ensure application in the desired areas and as a shield to prevent cosmetic application in unwanted areas. To make the guides, patterns are laid out on thin plastic sheets and the guides cut out by hand or they can easily be cut by machine for large volume production. The patterns were developed from measurements of the eye and cheek areas of the human facial structure. The forms are designed to be aligned with key points on the cheek and/or eye areas (Refer to FIG. 5 and FIG. 6 of the drawings) then held against the appropriate area of the face with one hand and the cosmetics applied with the other hand. Measurements for the cheek-contouring guide were made from the ear area on a line from Crus of Helix (upper ear area) slanting down through the Targus (flap above the ear canal) and along the Zygomatic Bone (cheek bone) to the outside corner of the Maxilla (bone area over upper lip). Refer to the drawings FIG. 5 and FIG. 6. Measurements for the eye guides involved identifying the areas for application to include the Subraorbital bone area (over upper eye lid), lateral eye angle and area under the eye. Refer drawings FIG. 6. [0007]
  • The plastic used for the guides is a common Mylar for making templates. All guides are approximately one thirtieth ({fraction (1/30)}) of a centimeter in thickness and all corners and sides are rounded to prevent sharp points near the face. [0008]
  • The cheek guide (FIG. 1 and FIG. 7) is triangular in shape, and measures four (4) and four sixteenths ({fraction (4/16)}) inches at the longest (top) side, three (3) and one half (½) inches along each side, two (2) and six sixteenths ({fraction (6/16)}) from the center of the top side curve to the bottom point of the triangular shape. The top curve has a depth of six sixteenths ({fraction (6/16)}) of an inch. [0009]
  • The small eye guide (FIG. 2 and FIG. 8) is triangular in shape and measures two (2) and one half (½) inches along the longest side, one (1) and thirteen sixteenths ({fraction (13/16)}) inches along each side, one (1) and one fourth (¼) inches from the center of the curve on the longest side (top) to the bottom point. The top curve depth is five sixteenths ({fraction (5/16)}) of an inch. [0010]
  • The medium eye area guide (FIG. 3 and FIG. 8) is triangular in shape and measures three (3) and one half (½) inches at the longest side (top) side, two (2) and one half (½) inches along both sides and one (1) and ten sixteenths ({fraction (10/16)}) inches from the middle of the top curve to the bottom point. The top curve depth is four sixteenths ({fraction (4/16)}). [0011]
  • The curved eye area guide at (FIG. 4 and FIG. 9) is a triangular shape with a deeper curve than the Medium Eye Guide on the longest (top) side. The longest side (top) measures three (3) inches across, the sides are two (2) and one half (½) inches long, and the distance from the middle of the top curve to the bottom point is one (1) and one half (½) inches. The curve depth is eleven sixteenths ({fraction (11/16)}) of an inch. [0012]
