1 Claim.

The invention relates to improvements in games and has particular reference to what is commonly known as a toy game wherein a series of objects such as horses, bicycle riders, etc. are

5 mounted on a spinning dial, each of said objects carrying either numerical or colored identification means corresponding to a like number of electric lamps disposed on the playing board, a light current supply source, contact means between said dial and lamps, and a switch for completing contact between the objects on said dial and lamps so that when said dial spun such contacts energize or light said lamps in sequence until said dial comes toa stop at one of the points of contact between said objects and lamps indicating the winning object or number of the game.

The invention provides a game having substantial appeal to children since the objects on the dial are attractive in color and form, and the electric lamps being of varying colors corresponding to the object colors if desired being subject to the intermittent or flashing of each lamp as the dial rotates, the result and effect is attractive to observe and highly entertaining to participate in the playing thereof.

The spinner or counter dial of the game carry ing the imitative objects may likewise be numeralized correspondingly to conform to a numerical chart designated on the playing board of the game in order to permit the playing of a tabulative game such as guessing the number or object to win and totaling same with a series of plays of spinning the dial.

The object of the invention resides in the providing of a game board having permanently mounted therein a pin or spindle upon which is mounted a spinner dial having mounted thereon a series of bicycle rider objects. Said dial 40 having mounted on its under side a spring contact the point of which is arranged torest upon and engage a series of block contact plates mounted on said board around said pin or supporting stud, said contact blocks being connected with a series of inlaid metal-paper current carrier conduits embedded in the face of said board each of said conduits connecting and contacting a contact bar fastened on the under side of said board and having mounted therein sleeves projecting through said board to the face, thereof to form a series of lamp sockets wherein are disposed a series of colored electric lamp bulbs, and beneath said board a dry-cell is mounted in a suitable bracket, the contact ends of which are disposed in contact brackets one thereof the point where said dial stops indicated by the i lighted lamp being the winning object and number of the same.

A further object of the invention lies in the providing or" structure combining mechanical and electrical elements wherein no form of wire con- '70 nection is employed to complete the structure, it having been found desirous to entirely eliminate any form of wire, since such form of structure employing Wire connections of any form is always subject to injury and disorder.

In the following there is described the general embodiment of the invention, the features thereof being more clearly defined hereinafter in the claim; r

In the drawing Fig. 1 is an elevation of the game board showing the position thereon of the spinner dial with relation to the series of flashing electric light signals and the chart designating the numbers of the objects on said dial; Fig. 2 is a detail elevation of the board and the electric contact conduits between the rotor blocks and the bar and lamp bulbs together with the hand switch and dry-cell for energizingsaid lamps; Fig. 3 is an enlarged detail crosssectional view of the board, spinner dial, battery and general structural assemblage of the game, such section being taken on the line 3-3 of Fig. 1; Fig. 4 is a cross sectional view on the line 4-4 of Fig. 3 showing the rotor contact blocks and dial contact finger, and Fig. 5 is a modified form of the dial contact finger structure showing a form of grooved contact blocks and roller bearing contact means.

Similar numerals of reference indicate similar parts throughout the several views of the drawing.

In the drawing, 1 designates the game board which may be of rectangular form and constructed to produce a housing for parts thereof to be covered, having mounted therein at its upper central portion a stud or spindle 2 fastened therein by means of a washer 3 and nut 4 to provide a substantial support of a rotary spinner dial 5. Board 1 has mounted thereon adjacent spindle 2 a series of copper plate contact blocks 6 each one thereof being connected with a series of metallized paper contact conduits 7 counter-sunk in said board 1 and extending in zigzag formation to a series of contact sleeves 8 mounted in contact bar 9 disposed on the under side of board 1, said sleeves 8 carrying sockets 10 in each of which is disposed a plurality of colored electric light bulbs 11.

Beneath the surface of board 1 within the housing walls thereof I provide a spring clip 12 into which a dry-cell battery 13 is mounted, the contact ends of which are mounted in contact brackets 14, one thereof being mounted on spindle 2 and held in place thereon by said washer 3 and nut 4, the other bracket 14 being fastened to said board 1 to form a contact 15, for hand switch 16 the pivotal end 1'? thereof being mounted on stud 18 carried by contact bar 9 of the structure.

Spindle 2 has mounted thereon said spinner dial 5 which comprises a disk of wood or other suitable material provided with an under pape sheathing 19 and having rigidly disposed therein a hollow stud 20 engaging said spindle 2 and a spring contact plate 21 provided with a contact finger 22 arranged to engage contact blocks or plates 6 and said stud 20 has mounted thereon a knob 23 for rotating said dial 5, the latter having mounted thereon a series of figurative objects 24 corresponding in number to the series of colored electric light bulbs or lamps 11, contact blocks 6 and contact conduits '7. Such objects 24 may be as illustrated, that of bicycle riders or they may be horses, track runners or any other object attractive to the minds of children, etc.

In the structure as described there are eight figures disposed on dial 5 and eight lamps corresponding therewith, and upon said board 1 there is indicated a chart composed of ruled divisions having designated in one set thereof the numerals 1 to 8 inclusive corresponding to the objects 24 and lamps 11 producing a combination for playing either a progressive game or that of guessing the winning number, the repeated flashing of lamps 11 and the rotation of dial 5 carrying figures 24 depicting an attractive game to observe during the playing of same.

To play a form of game upon the device as described, a player may place a ticket numbered for instance (6) on bracket (6) and the chart dial 5 is spun by manually rotating same by knob 23 causing same to spin at a high rate of speed the objects 24 moving in formation in a circular direction the rotation of said dial 5 carrying on its under side contact finger 22 in engagement with blocks or plates 6 after hand switch 16 is thrown onto contact 15, throwing battery 13 in circuit to cause the movement of said dial 5 to energize "lamps 6 through conduits '7, lighting each of said lamps 6 intermittently until said dial comes to a full stop and indicating by the flash of the lamp 6 the winning object 24 and the winner of the game by number or the ticket number placed opposite the numerical indication on the chart, the lamp remaining lighted signifying the winning object and number.

Referring to Fig. 5, of the drawing, the spring plate 21 may have mounted in contact finger 22 thereof a roller bearing 25 arranged to contact grooved contact bars 26 in order to provide a more freely rotating dial 5 and quicker continued flashing of the multicolored signal lights of the structure.

It is to be noted that there are no electric wires for contact media and accordingly the mechanical and electrical mechanism of the device eliminates injury or disorder to the operative parts thereof ensuring economy in manufacture and lasting qualities in usage.

The device is simple in its structure and operation and the parts necessary for its complete functioning may be varied in many Ways Without departing from the spirit of the invention.

What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is:

A device of the character described including a game board, a spindle mounted in said board, a rotatable disk mounted on said spindle, objects imitating bicycle riders permanently disposed on said disk, a contact finger mounted on the under side of said disk, a plurality of contact plates mounted on said board and radially disposed thereon with relation to said spindle and with which said finger contacts to form electrical connest-ion therebetween, a supporting bus-bar mounted on said board, a plurality of lamp sockets mounted on said bus-bar, a series of divers colored lamp bulbs disposed in said sockets, a plurality of paper metal coated conduits embedded in the playing surface of said board so as to produce an uninterrupted playing surface therefor and fashioned in zigzag formation to imitate streaks of lightning, said conduits forming the electrical contact means between said contact plates and said divers colored lights, a storage battery in contact with said spindle and arranged as a current supply source, a cut-out switch disposed on said board controlling the supply of current from said battery tosaid contacts and colored lights, and a sectional chart imprinted on said board having designated thereon identification means corresponding with the identification means on the imitative objects on said rotary disk.
