I claim:
1. A device of the type described comprising a base having a fixed arm, a second arm movably mounted on said base, a jaw carried by each of said arms, yieldable means for urging one jaw towards another whereby an ophthalmic mounting may be held between said jaws, electrical means for heating the mounting held by said jaws, a plunger slidably mounted on each of said arms adjacent to the jaw, said'plungers being oppositely disposed and adapted to be moved towards each other to contact with the mounting I held by the jaws and yieldable means normally urging said plungers away from each other.
2. A machine of the character described comprising a base, an arm fixedly mounted on said base, a jaw carried by said arm, a second arm movably mounted on said base, said second arm' carrying a jaw positioned to cooperate with the jaw on the first named arm to hold an ophthalmic mounting, saidjaws being electrically insulated from each other, electrical means for heating a metallic mounting held in said jaws and a pair of plungers movably mounted in opposed relation a jaw, an insulated member carried by said base,
a jaw carried by said member, a lever pivotally mounted on said member, said lever having a cam portion, yieldable means normally urging said arm into contact with said cam portion and means for supplying electrical current to said Jaws.
4. A machine of the type described comprising a base having an upright column, an arm pivotally mounted on said column, a member carried by said base, said member being electrically insulated from said base, an arm fixedly mounted on said member, means for moving said first named arm towards said second named arm, each of said arms having cooperating jaw portions for holding an object to be heated and means forsupplying electrical current to said jaws.

A machine of the type described comprising a base having an integral upright column, an arm pivotally mounted on said column, an insulating member carried by said base, an arm carried by said member, a jaw carried by each of said arms, means for supplying electrical current to said jaws, yieldable means for normally urging said first named arm downwardly and cam means mounted on said member for moving said first named arm against the action of said yieldable means.

A machine of the type described comprising a base carrying a fixed jaw, a second jaw movably mounted opposite said fixed jaw, yieldable means normally urging said movable jaw towards the fixed jaw whereby an ophthalmic mounting may be held between the jaws, means for electrically heating the mounting held between the jaws, a plunger slidably mounted opposite said fixed jaw and adjacent to the movable jaw, a coil spring surrounding the plunger and normally urging it away from the fixed jaw and stop means for limiting the movement of said plunger whereby said plunger may be selectively depressed to bring it into contact with the heated mounting held in said jaws.
