Description

BREATH DEODORANT Filed Oct. l2, 1933 Patented Oct. 23, 1934 1,978,217 BREATH DEoDoRANT John Muckerjee, Milwaukee, Wis.
Application October 12, 1933, Serial No. 693,225
1 Claim.
This invention relates to breath deodorants and has as an object to provide a new and improved manner of putting up a liquid deodorant for use.
At the present time, considerable stress is being laid upon breath purification, and many devices are on the market for this purpose.` Liquid antisepties` known as mouth washes and medicated tablets, are probably the most common, but these methods of providing breath purification have serious drawbacks, or objections. The inconvenience of gargling the liquid mouth wash is obvious and the medicated tablets, while more conveniently taken, are objectionable in that they upset the stomach. The use of gum for breath deodorant purposes is also unsatisfactory.
To overcome these objections to existing methods and devices for providing breath purification, this invention contemplates the provision o readily disposable capsules containing a quantity of a liquid antiseptic having breath deodorant properties.
With the above and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, my invention residesin the novel unit hereinafter described and more particularly defined by the appended claim, it being understood that such changes in the precise embodiment of the hereindisclosed invention may be made as come within the scope of the claim.
In the accompanying drawing, I have illusso trated one complete example of the physical embodiment of my invention constructed according to the best mode I have so far devised for the practical application of the principles thereof, and
in which:
Figure l is a side view with a portion broken away and in section, showing a capsule embodying this invention; and
Figure 2 illustrates its manner of use.
In accordance with the present invention, a capsule .5, preferably formed of pliable elastic gelatinous material with a bulbous body portion 6 having an integral neck gradually tapering outwardly and terminating in ablunt arcuate well .rounded tip '1, is suitably filled with a liquid antiseptic or mouth wash having breath deodorant properties. The filled capsules may be put up in small readily carried cartons or boxes.
' To use the liquid breath deodorant the body portion 6 is gripped between the thumb and forem finger and the tapering neck portion inserted in the mouth. The user then bites down thereon in the normal manner. Due to the size of the cap, sule and the relationship of the teeth and fingery tips, during the biting action the user instinctively compresses, pulls outwardly, and slightly `twists the capsule. This causes the' teeth as they contact and compress the elastic neck wall to slip slightly on the taper until engaged behind the blunt tip. The tip being a gelatinous mass then larger than the neckacts as a pull stop. The capsule is thus held against withdrawal, and at the completion of the normal bite a shearing action takes place which causes a puncture at some tooth engaged point and consequent4 direct ejection of the contents into the oral cavity.
The convenience and facility of using the breath deodorant of thisinvention is quite evident and as will be readily apparent, the particular shape ofv the capsule forms a very desirable feature and materially facilitates use. What I claim as my invention is: A sealed portable container filled with a measured quantity of liquid breath deodorant sufficient to purify the breath when taken directly into the mouth, comprising a capsule formed of' pliable elastic gelatinous material, a bulbous body portion adapted to be gripped between the thumb and foreiinger, an integral neck gradually tapering outwardly from the body for insertion into the mouth between the teeth, and a blunt arcuate well rounded tip into which said neck merges whichv forms a gelatinous mass acting as a pull stop behind the teeth during a biting action whereby when the body is pulled outwardly compressed and twisted during said biting action there i is produced a positiveshear puncture upon completion of the normal bite.
