A wedge block 25 having a cut-out slot 26 therein, and with serrations 27 preferably on its lower face, is mounted between the block 19 and the arm 18. An adjustable screw 28 having a calibrated head 29 is journaled in the arm 18, and can be elevated to a desired position to seat within one of the narrow teeth 27 of the lower surface of the wedge member. The side of the wedge 25 may be calibrated, and when the nut 21 is released, the wedge member may be moved readily to a desired position.
The wedge 25 has its lower side arching around the upper side of the support member 18. This is best seen in Figs. 4 and 6, where the wedgev 25 has been adjusted back from its position in Fig. 3. This is because the notched portion of this lower side of the wedge and the forward unnotched portion of the wedge are not in a straight line but divergent at a wide angle. If these portions were in a straight line, adjustment of this wedge 25 merely would vary the elevation of the guide and not its inclination. The wedge 25 thus has a combined rocking and elevating or lowering action when adjusted, so that it is efiective for moving said guide in a series of non concentric arcs.
In the modification illustrated in Figure 4, there is the same support 17 having a lateral arm 18. I have shown a bolt 20a extending through the arm 18 and passing through the groove of the wedge member 25, which is similar to the wedge member illustrated in Figures 2 and 3. The guide track 16 has a block 19a secured to its outer side, and the bolt 20a passes through a tapered aperture 30 and has a head 31. An auxiliary wedge 32 having a slot 33 through which the bolt passes, is illustrated in this modification, which, as will be obvious, permits the guiding track to be clamped down at a predetermined inclination. In Figure 6 I have shown the upright arm 17 mounted on the machine frame, and the side arm 18 extends out from the upright 17 in a manner similar to the mounting shown in the other figures. The track 16 is held in position by means of a wedge member 25 in the same manner as in the other modifications. In Figure 6, instead of providing an adjustable screw, the end of which seats Within the serrations within the lower surface of the wedge, I have merely provided a ridge or elongated tooth 33.
In Figure 6 I have indicated in dotted lines the position which the track will assume upon the advancement of the wedge to increase the angle of inclination of the track. In order to increase the inclination of the track, the wing nut 21a, must first be backed off and the wedge 25 can then be pushed, as indicated, to the right or left.
It will be obvious that with the wedge mounting which I have provided, more accurate con trol of the angle of inclination of the track and a greater range of adjustments to various angles of inclination may be provided and recorded. With the wedges provided with calibrations as indicated, an operator can readily set up the machine for a given heel, be instructed as to how far in to insert the wedge, and the contour which will be given to the heel can thus be very accurately controlled. The calibrations being extended along the side of the wedge member, can be much farther apart and thus more readily visible when an auxiliary calibrated screw is used.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:-
1. In a machine of the character specified having a rotary cutter and a blank holder arranged to be swung into different positions relative to saidcutter, a guiding track for said blank holder, and mounting means movable relatively to said track comprising a wedge adjustable to hold the track in different guiding positions.
2. In a machine of the character specified having a rotary cutter and a blank holder arranged to be swung into different positions relative to said cutter, a guiding track for said blank holder, and mounting means movable relatively to said track comprising a wedge adjustable to hold the track in difierent guiding positions, said wedge having calibrations on its side by which different positions of said track may be determined.
3. In a machine of the character specified having a rotary cutter and a blank holder arranged to be swung into different positions relative to said cutter, a guide for said blank holder and means for supporting said guide in different angular positions, said means being movable relatively to said guide and eifective for moving said guide in a series of non-concentric arcs.

9. In a machine of the character specified having a rotary cutter and a blank holder arranged to be swung into different positions relative to said cutter, a guide for said blank holder, and means for mounting said guide comprising a supporting arm, a wedge member movable relative to said supporting arm, said guide having a mounting block and a bolt securing said guide on said arm, said mounting block being provided with a tapered hole through which said bolt extends, said wedge being slotted providing clearance for the passage of the bolt therethrough.
10. In a machine of the character specified having a rotary cutter and a blank holder arranged to be swung into different positions relative to said cutter, a guide for said blank holder, and means for mounting said guide comprising a supporting arm, a wedge member movable relative to said supporting arm, said guide having a mounting block and a bolt securing said guide on said arm, said mounting block being provided with a tapered hole through which said bolt extends, said wedge being calibrated and having a. serrate lower surface, and an auxiliary adjust ment screw extending into contact with the serrate lower surface of said wedge.
11. In a machine of the character specified having a rotary cutter and a blank holder arranged to be swung into different angular positions relative to the cutter, means to support said holder and guide its swinging, comprising at least two members with mutually engaging sides, one of which members is adjustable relatively to the other, and one of which sides arches around the other one of said sides along the line of adjustment to effect a combined rocking and raising or lowering adjustment of the path of swinging of the holder relative to the cutter when said members are relatively adjusted.
12. In a machine of the character specified having a rotary cutter and a blank holder arranged to be swung into different angular positions relative to the cutter, a member to guide the swinging of said holder, a supporting member, a wedge interposed between said members and adjustable relatively to said members, and means adjustable to hold said members together in differently spaced relations established by adjustment of said wedge.
13. In a machine of the character specified having a rotary cutter and a blank holder arranged to be swung into different angular positions relative to the cutter, a member to guide the swinging of the holder, a supporting member, a wedge adjustably interposed between said members, said wedge and at least one of said members having mutually engaging sides, one of which sides arches around the other along the line of wedge adjustment, and means adjustable for holding said members together in differently spaced relations established by the adjustment of said wedge.
14. In a machine of the character specified having a rotary cutter and a blank holder arranged to be swung into different angular positions relative to the cutter, a member to guide the swinging of the holder, a supporting member, a plurality of wedges interposed in series between said members, one of said wedges and one of said members having mutually engaging sides, one of which sides arching around the other along the line of wedge adjustment to effect a combined rocking and raising or lowering of the guide member when said one of said wedges is adjusted, the other wedge supplementing the raising or lowering effect when adjusted, and means adjustable forholding said members together in differently spaced relations established by adjustment of said wedges.
15. In a machine of the character specified having a rotary cutter and a blank holder arranged to be swung into different angular positions relative to the cutter, a member to guide the swinging of the holder, and a supporting member, a wedge adjustably interposed between said members whereby said wedge and at least one of said members have mutually engaging sides, one of which sides arches around the other along the line of wedge adjustment to effect a combined rocking and raising or lowering of the guide member, supplementary means for varying the spacing of said wedge and one of said members to modify the effect of the wedge adjustment, and means adjustable for holding said members together in differently spaced relations established by said wedge and said supplementary means.
16. In a machine of the character specified having a rotary cutter and a blank holder arranged to be swung into different angular positions relative to the cutter, a member to guide the swinging of the holder, a supporting member, a wedge adjustably interposed between said members, varying the spaced relation of the members by its adjustment, an adjusting screw varying the angle of the wedge to one of said members, supplementary to the adjustment by said Wedge, and means adjustable for holding said members together in differently spaced relations established by said wedge and said screw.
17. In a machine of the character specified having a rotary cutter and a blank holder arranged to be swung into different angular positions relative to the cutter, a member to guide the swinging of the holder, and a supporting member, a wedge shaped element in adjusting relation to said guide member on said supporting member, adjustable to hold said guide member at various inclinations and elevations relative to the cutter, and a bolt and nut device holding said members together, permitting their various spacing and having engagement with one of the members, and allowing the various inclinations of said guide member.
